SoulCalibur V officially released in North America today SoulCalibur V was officially released in North America today. The game has a Japanese release date of February 2nd and a European release date of February 3rd.

The game has the same control scheme as its predecessors in the Soul series and tends to follow similar gameplay from its SoulCalibur lineage. What is truly new to the gameplay is the addition of the Critical Gauge which allows Critical Edge (super), Guard Impact (deflection) and Brave Edge (EX moves) to be used on a meter-based system.

SCV also takes place 17 years after the last SoulCalibur, meaning that there are a decent amount of new characters. It also contains many longtime SC attendees and continuous fan favorites such as Yoshimitsu, Siegfried and Cervantes.

EventHubs will have move listings of all the SCV characters up soon and will continue providing coverage of the game as usual. Feel free to submit tips regarding SoulCalibur V to the inbox as well.

I'm so dang excited. Gonna have so much fun remaking the same characters from 4. Except with different heights, adjusted voices, etc.

Too bad my friend's picking it up for me and wont't be able to give it to me until tomorrow...damn.

Ivy the first GILF in existence? The marketting campaign of SC5 has been ridiculous. Taking "sex sells" state of mind to a whole new level.

They even hint at it with some wordplays.

1st image: where it says "shiriizu" in katakana it means "series," but the dots over the "shiri" translate it as "ass."

2nd image: "胸" or "mune" means "heart" but it also means "breasts/chest."

I found it quite amusing. All in all, the character customization sold me out. Definitely getting it.

Haven't been hype for a 3D fighter in quite some time but I like the look of this, unfortunately most of us UK folk won't see this until Thursday/Friday so enjoy the game America =)

@13

Apparently, quite a few characters who ddin't make it into the game have their styles available in the Character Creation. Perhaps Talim's style will be there and you'll just have to make one. I'm hoping the same thing for Zasalamel since he's not actually in this either.

Definitely going to get this, but hte fact that there's no Talim, Setsuka (instead there's "alpha" Patroklos wtf), Yun-Seong or Zasalamel makes me a bit confused. Well, maybe they're in the CAS mode as styles...

@10 Can you please just stop making fun of MvC3 in every single post you make? Theyre two totally different games. I'd very much appreciate you leave MvC3 out of this. Thank you.

Anyway, FF13-2 released today as well. Should be hype for you Lightning fans.

Got a 7.5 from IGN. Like usual, their main complaint is the lack of single-player content.

@23

Yeah, the story mode isn't as good as they led people to believe with all the trailers and crap. The online has been improved miraculously and the new characters are actually pretty fun. The character creation is also absolutely incredible. So while Soulcalibur V is rather lacking in the offline area, it still has things that make up for that.

Other reviewers are giving SCV 8s and 8.5s, so it basically ranges from 7.5 - 8.5. Not really that bad at all.

Game looks nice. Actually took 4 pretty seriously with Tira. Might skip out on this one for the moment, just bought KoF and in love with it for now. Maybe I'll pick it up if I don't enjoy SFxT.
