There are no plans currently for additional DLC for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, according to Seth Killian. While things can change, as the Street Fighter 4 series picked up some updates even after Capcom said they were finished with it, this is unfortunate news for fans hoping there was something in the works for the immediate future.I'd love for this not to be the end of UMvC3 and not just the costumes, but a few new characters. well its not like theyre are gonna say "hey! new characters in two months" on twitter. if they do decide on more characters, they'll officially announce it.
This is a "Deja Vu" and in a few months the rumors of the "arcade edition" will be out... Sven said that he "thinks" that it will be more DLC... said as usual cant say anything and it is completely useless. This is just like when ultimate was in works. They managed to keep ultimate as a secret all the time and people believed that it was going to be DLC until the very announce of the new game.
$15 DLC coming within a years time with prolly like 5 or six new characters or right before EVO and people will barely have time to know the matchups with those characters. And there will be balance tweaks and wesker will be nerfed to all hell and then some character will Be recognized as broken(Nemesis) and one or two of the new characters will be broken as well and then in less than a year after that there will be a free update that'll nerf some more people that are deemed as broken since wesker won't be top tier anymore. Come on Folks its Capcom You think they won't find a way to milk more cash out of us? And i feel bad for typing this because this has all been said when Vanilla mvc3 came out

You're probably right. If this game was full of basically the casts of most of these 90s heroes/villains there would have been so much more tacked on when they announced 12 more characters to add on (who then could've been obscure and cornerstone characters who weren't mainstream), UMvC3 would have dragged in so many more people just off of mass casual appeal that it probably would have sold like a brand new game, just because people would have responded to Vanilla a lot better (because they would have had the casuals' hearts from the beginning).
So what's so special about jill and shuma being the only dlc characters? Now if it were just mega man and venom id understand... :0 Maybe they just want to bring out the vita version and promote it a bit and bring out some new content in a few months.
ok, i'm going to come out with this, i don't play as Magneto as often as other characters but god dammit i feel so bad for the character and the people who use him because now he'll be the only character without a costume
UMVC 3 did not sell well enough to warrant more DLC. I think it is that simple, and Capcom probably feels that even if they updated the game with 8-10 new characters they are still risking losing money in the end. Rushing to release MVC 3 and then UMVC 3 (which made MVC3 look like a demo) angered many gamers. Heck i usually am the first to pre-order any new Capcom fighter but didn't bother getting UMVC 3 yet, although i plan on doing so when the price drops even more. I just felt really, really disappointed with how "stripped" vanilla MVC3 felt and didn't get me excited enough for UMVC3. Coming from someone who owns all 3 versions of the SF IV games (plus special editions) , well, u get what i mean.

They should have put DLC characters other than Shuma and Jill. Honestly... Who knew who Shuma was before you saw him? Who was legitimately a fan? The first time I saw him, I had NO idea who he was.
Why don't they just add the faces that people care about? Megaman, Venom, Gambit and Cyclops to name a few. And for the a-holes who try to say "That's WHO YOU CARE ABOUT, DERP!" You're wrong, you've seen so many times people asking for those characters. Remember Megaman fanboys? Yeah... notice the S? It's plural. MEANING MORE THAN ONE.

I don't know why they had to create a TvC look alike for PS3 and Xbox. They couldn't just stick with the roots? They couldn't include the original cast and have the game play more like previous Marvel games? They just had to use Marvel as a marketing tool and add characters that are "relevant". I blame Marvel for this too. Vanilla Marvel should've been a good enough indication of where this series was headed. RIP MVC. Next up: Kill the Alpha/Darkstalkers series right after re-releasing 3S:OE which I couldn't play online even with their whole GGPO bs.

this doesn't surprise me because 1. Jill and Shuma failed 2. if they did release dlc characters they wouldnt be top tier or anything because then people would complain people are "paying" to win 3. Most of the new characters in UMvC3 suck only good ones are Vergil, nova, hawkeye and frank so any new characters would probably blow as well

It's so obvious this game sold horribly
1. Capcom loves money, they wouldn't put out dlc for a game that sold poorly
2. Instead of outright denying the sales figures s7venson just says not to trust vg charts and his only responses are via Lol or hahaha
3. 80 % of the people i personally know that bought vanilla did not buy ultimate
4. when developers games do hell, they brag about it.
5. Capcom has put out statements for every fighting game they have released since hd remix saying it met or exceeded sales estimates or that they were satisfied. Why not now?
6. Capcom was quick to patch vanilla sentinel and make a few other minor adjustments to the game for vanilla, no word on that yet even with all the constant whiny bitches crying about "team trenchcoat" especially wesker.
7. Go on amazon, ebay, or walk into gamestop looking for a used copy of umvc3, it's pretty hard to find.
Capcom, you've been trolling us and mistreating your fans for a long time and they have had it. Other developers like snk are giving us complete games, and publishers like atlus are throwing in 4 disc soundtracks for free (im looking at you kof 13, you are great) We know you kept lobby spectating out of vanilla, did horrible matchmaking and made sure team bffs and pheonix were still broken so people would have the desire to buy umvc3. lets not forget your on disk dlc that was on vanilla and chocolate street fighter 4 and jill and shuma.
Kind of hoping they would just stop with all the bs costume dlc. Wouldn't mind if the majority of them weren't complete eye sores.

So they are gonna leave a popular character costumeless and no plans to even correct an oversight that was their own fault? They wanted so desperately to let other unheard of characters have the limelight knowing how risky that is, then to repeat the same mistake again with the updated umvc3. And the only dlc characters we are graced with are is a different version of a character people actually wanted and a unpopular character that marvel didnt even really want in the game until capcom begged them.
We speak with our wallets, yet in the end everyone loses. They arent gonna correct there mess up to get us to want to buy it. Just instead stop supporting it altogether from the looks of it and let it die off >_<.
All my friends that did have umvc3 got rid of it after like a week cause they wasnt feeling/knew the new characters. And seeing how all of them played mvc3 for a good few months, they figured since they didnt like the new characters why bother with umvc3 anymore cause they didnt really add much else to the game.

I felt like they could have made more money off of dlc characters than the game itself. Think about all the tournaments every console will have to have all the characters for it to be competitive. Everyone who plays would most likey buy them just to keep up with the match ups ect...
People cried for mega man, gambit, venom, gene on and on. thats 15 dollars for a package right there. throw in 4 more characters thats 30.
What I don't understand is People are willing to shell out money every year for a new madden, nba2k, Call of Duty, Halo, WOW expansions and buy all there dlc for 15$ a pop. The fighting game community is unforgiving when it comes to dlc and producing games. Kinda sux.

they say there is no DLC planned, but really that is just bs. why would they up and tell you all their plans for the next two years? which is what i bet they already have planned out. how many versions of SFIV have they had already? 4? people are just catching on so they're 'waiting for the next version' all the time. i will be that they won't do any character balances in UMVC3 because they will be waiting for UMVC3 Arcade Edition to do that. i'm sure most will be buffs, but wesker will definitely get his health nerfed if not more.
UMVC3 was too little too soon, and it seemed like even the more hardcore players were going to focus on other games like skyrim and battlefield and mw3.
i can almost guarantee that a few months after SFXT comes out, that they will announce UMVC3 Arcade Edition. Which will most likely have Daredevil (who will be broken), Luke Cage, Bullseye, Alex from 3rd Strike, and probably like 8 other characters.
then after UMVC3: AE they will have Super SFXT and then Dark Stalkers or something and then UMVC3 AE 2013 where they fix the broken new characters they added. this is how capcom works and stays in business. You can all quote me on this.

If there was DLC, people would say Capcom once again shipped the game incomplete with DLC that's already on the disc. Since there's not any DLC (which he only said RIGHT NOW), people are mad at Capcom for not adding anybody. The FGC is so fickle there's no telling what will please them besides bringing out a major fighter from a rival company so idiots can say "Screw Crapcom, I'll just play [insert any fighter not made by Capcom]", even though they still virtually live on EH.com and buy every Capcom fighter because when all is said and done they have the only fighters that truly live for long periods of time.

I think if the actually put any effort into making Jill or Shuma appealing characters they would have gotten bought by basically everyone. But I mean I basically never see neither of the two (I see Shuma only when playing my friend ChaosArchangeI), so it's pretty much like they don't even exist to begin with for people that do have them, so who the hell would buy them? Sheva or RE1 Jill would have sold more off of name alone without even seeing gameplay (which turned people off right away when they seen RE5 Jill's gameplay). Now Shuma, I really don't know. I think Shuma is pretty good, but nobody gives a damn about him. Capcom needed another boss, and Capcom should've accepted another character besides badgering Marvel for Shuma, I guess. Miss Marvel, maybe?

@50 These 90's characters you speak of are flurishing in comics now wtf you talking about? Do you think they no longer exist or something? Venom is averaging 9+ in critics reviews as is Uncanny X-men/Wolverine and the X-men and Daredevil. Cable is having his duel with the avengers now.

You know what is the sad part? Magneto's costume is already in the disc and to prevent the access to the costume they are just not going to release the unlock key for that costume. After some time hackers will manage to unlock the costume and it will be available anyway. Spain stupid complaints sucks...

I'm glad people are hungry. There should be a demand. If it wasn't the game would die out. Halo, Call of Duty, and Gears came out with dlc within the first 3 months whats wrong with that?
What Capcom should do is have a Official poll and the characters that get voted top 5 on each side should get put into the game. So the characters "We" want get put it and not some characters they think we want. I don't trust there decisions although i do play with Pretty much everyone.
Those are FPS not FIghters. You can break a map down in a couple days. Asking for a ton of new characters without figuring out the ins and outs of a character just seems silly to me.
But it is what it is, I personally enjoy the game with the characters that are there. If they add new characters its a plus. Doesn't mean I'll stop playing because there aren't though.
