I did this in Photoshop. What do you think? — Monkey
Svensson: An interesting concept, and personally I like it.
But let me turn this around and ask a few questions.
My presumption is that more casual or new players to the series are going to want full screen (no black bars at all), which means, zoom & crop or stretch in some form with bars at the top. This is usually why we have it as the default in things like HD Remix, etc. Also, hardcore players know about other options and know how to put it into the 4:3 modes that they want (whereas the same can't necessarily be said about new players/more casual players).
Hardcore players are used to the bars where they always were. Yes, those guys won't play zoomed or stretched, but will likely want the bars where they were because they're used to gauging their play around proportionally perfect gauges as compared to the original.
So if either scenario caters to one audience or the other what segment of the audience would this layout be for?
Sven, Any chance of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to be released on PC? — Jean
Svensson: I'd never say never, but there's nothing in the works on that front.
I'd like to know how much UMvC3 sold. I heard it did horribly.
Svensson: Guys, to be clear, as a publicly held company, only investor relations can provide sales numbers and that's why I won't ever comment or provide sales figures. All I'll say is the "hearsay" in this thread is way off.
I've found most "hardcore" players are far less anal than they think they are, and prefer to stretch games to widescreen (and don't notice when they're playing in 480i on HDTVs, etc etc). I cannot fathom this as with all of their talent and experience, I was SURE they would REQUIRE the original 4:3 aspect ratio so their spacing and footsies remained on point.
Nope, they just hate those black bars. Aspect ratios be damned!! Stretch the **** out of television shows and video games and make everyone look fatter because I hate dem black bars!! UGH. EXTREME pet peeve of mine.
But if they drop a combo... "GODDAMN THIS TV IS LAGGY THIS IS BULL****." Dude's can't even tell HD from SD, no matter how high level they are I KNOW the majority of ALL players out there do not notice 1, maybe even 2 frames of input lag... Few may notice, most do not...
So pretty much no more dlc for Umvc3. I'm pretty sure if they added the characters people wanted such as venom, mega man, gambit, gene from God Hand, or Asura it would have sold more. Or if you put them as Dlc 5$ a piece you would make even more money. If I was capcom I would make it a package so people are forced to buy all characters 800 ms points for 2 characters at a time. I'd buy it just to keep the game fresh.
He won't provide sales figures because the sales figures are terrible, developers are more than happy to brag about how many copies their games sold when they sold well
I guess that's what happens when you release the same crap game twice within a year
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if UMVC3's sales figures were god-awful.
It's Marvel's fault, really. I can't imagine Capcom would have released their super version so soon after the original, money-grubbing as they are, unless they were being pushed by Marvel.
Nearly every Marvel character new to Ultimate is part of something that's coming out soon in Marvel's future.
An Iron Fist movie has been in the works for a long while. It might be part of gearing up for a major announcement on that front.
Rocket Raccoon's set to join the cast of the Avengers cartoon.
Nova's getting a new major story arc revolving around him in comics
Ghost Rider's got that new movie coming out.
And Hawkeye's in the new Avengers movie.
Heck, only character that isn't some sort of advertising plug is Dr. Strange.
Mo the game isn't going well because its barely like mvc2. The x factor is garbage when you have 4 characters that are so broken they'll wipe out s team without effort. I own it barely play it tho, its just to lop sided. All I fight is the same 4 characters because if you want to win in this game forget who you like to play, its slo about top tier and that's just not fun.
lol the game didn't do well in sells which is why these guys won't respond to the comment on how it did.
With characters like She-Hulk,Modok, and Rocket Raccoon yeah I think we see where it went wrong but tbh its not he weird choice of characters its the ones they didn't put in.
Megaman, Gambit, Venom the list goes on. I don't know half the cast in this game...
Then there that whole releasing a new game not even a year later.
@MALDA
I agree dude, get it on for everyone doesn't matter if your on X-LIVE or PSN we all should get it and I am really surprised they;ve not ported SFA3MAX yet to both PSN and XBM but I disagree with you on RR as I'm having fun with him right now as part of my new team him, Fireband and Felica.
Tbh this isnt all capcom's fault marvel wanted the next version out soon as possible in the worse month possible do you think the casual gamer would pick up umvc3 over mw3 or uncharted 3? I doubt it personally capcom should have just added some type of megaman(doesnt matter really) and afew other fan favs, also marvel is to blame for no other spidey characters and spider-man is pretty popular and got tons of villians marvel should have let capcom put in characters like venom, gambit or psylocke but they just want to put characters that are hot in the comics right now,I know this is part marvel can capcom but I think MOST people that are willing to buy the next version are abit more hardcore or really love the game, capcom and marvel messed up by not adding more fan request characters, also I think they will do dlc sometime down the line its just gonna be awhile I think they might talk about it around capcom captivite in april
Drat! I thought the Unity Boards link in the post would take me to Svensson's actual response thread.
It's good of him to finally talk about the "hearsay" about UMvC3's profits.
