Daigo lost 3 times. Confirmed fraud.
It's sick he got those 3xc.mp into sweep CH combo all the time.
apparently daigo's reluctant to be filmed because he doesn't want other ryu players copying this brand new low forward into fireball tech....
oh wait, sorry, same old crap, why he cares about being filmed I'll never know
I don't think he cares about being filmed. Pretty sure people just assumed that because there was no footage of his arcade play. The truth is that they do not allow filming in Japanese arcades.
#2 another hater huh? You know that daigos a great player when he has more haters than anyone else,, The more good a person is the more people hate on even on their littlest of flaws.
"This Ryu ... So creative
No sarcasm I 100% mean that"
What do you mean? Examples plz.
All the moves Daigo do (normals, specials, links, etc) can be done by anyone who is willing to practice.
However, when and where to use these moves and more importantly, when not to use these moves cannot be ever imitated nor learned simply through watching his videos.
@onostolemybike
Daigo doesn't want to be filmed because he doesn't want to be seen relying on mashing dp's during blockstrings or doing wake up dp's. Then when someone gets him in a tourney they think "i'm not on xbl anymore these are GOOD players i don't have to worry about that sh*t"....NEWSFLASH!!!!....good players mash too but they get away with it because they're respected......ume shoryu my a$$.
The thing is Daigo is a Super Turbo champion YOU CAN NOT MASH in that game. He's won SBO and Evo multiple times in ST so I highly doubt he gets wins by just mashing his way through tournaments. Again the "Daigo doesn't want to be filmed" is total bs. Like I said earlier Japanese arcades dont allow filming and someone automatically assumed "omg daigo doesnt want to be filmed".
#2 also he only lost 3 rounds ,, he didn't lose even a single match,, and thats quite and accomplishment against someone like shinochan who has one of the strongest onis out there, And if daigos a fraud,, people who lost to him are bigger frauds? so your basically calling Kazunoko, Nemo, Tokido, fuudo, Mago, Itabashi, Iyo, Sako, haitani, Poongko, Justin Wong, Ricky Ortiz, Alex Valle, Jyobin, Eita, Bonchan, Frauds???
lol at people who didn't get my sarcasm.
@10:
u mad bro?
The reason I assumed daigo doesn't want to be filmed is because he pretty much stopped playing online and as you know with online, you can't even play a casual endless match in peace and quiet without some arsehole filming it and putting it on their ego boosting youtube channel
There is no new tech here, just solid play, what you'd expect from daigo I guess.
Everyones angry because they expected Daigo to find something broken an abusable with Ryu that they could later exploit online. Daigo is a solid player and relies on instinct, experience and reactions.
No tricks or gimmicks.
He was using plenty of "New Tech" in these videos.
Stand Strong Cancel Hadoken.
Stand Close Forward Cancel Ex Tatsu or DP.
Cr Strong X3 into Cr Roundhouse.
These are all new additions to Daigo's game. And besides that he was looking solid as hell! These guys were ranked A and A+ fellas. With over 6,000 PP!
Any of you schleps beat dudes with over 6Kpp? I didn't think so:) Most of you have probably never even played a fighter with 6kpp lol, so stay salty with all that hatoraid.
On another note. Just want to say that SF4 is such an amazing game. To see people playing at such a high level is really inspirational.
SF4 and it's online mode has done so much to bring the FGC together! IMO its the most significant event since SF2 hit the arcades.
I could play this everyday (I do) and never get bored. Hopefully SFxT comes close to the competitive level of SF4.
However, I would like a stage DLC pack. So many Thousands of hours and matches.... I'd love a few new BG's.
SFA2 Grass Stage, SF2 Ryu's dojo and SFA Colosseum PLEASE!
Jeez onostolemybike, do you ever give up? It's getting a bit sad now.........
#2 was obviously being sarcastic.
@16
"Daigo is a solid player and relies on instinct, experience and reactions. No tricks or gimmicks."
Because Ryu is a straight forward character, no tricks, no gimmicks...that's what makes him so hard to play in high level play.
PS: Don't feed the trolls.
"He was using plenty of "New Tech" in these videos.
Stand Strong Cancel Hadoken.
Stand Close Forward Cancel Ex Tatsu or DP.
Cr Strong X3 into Cr Roundhouse."
I've seen all of that before. I've seen Daigo do 3 cr. strongs into roundhouse even back in vanilla.
^ Did you miss the first match of the first video?
"Stand Strong Cancel Hadoken.
Stand Close Forward Cancel Ex Tatsu or DP.
Cr Strong X3 into Cr Roundhouse."
none of this is new, daigo was doing cr strong x3 ages ago
@winston
troll harder son
#30
must hard being lonely :(
Can't get enough of cr mp x 3 - sweep, sick!
@34
yeah, winston, keep launching personal attacks on people you know absolutely nothing about.
I won't stoop to your kiddy level.
Kami has returned flea before you feel his wrath!
Awesome footsies and spacing by Daigo (as always). (But also great rushdown from the oni-player)
Of course some trolls do not understand what footsies are or why Daigo uses cr. MK-FB and bitch about it (This is like to bitch about Zangief using SPDs or Honda doing cr.lp-HHS).
It seems like a lot of the top-players mash SRKs to get momentum and it seems to work out quite well.
Daigo also only mashes from time to time to get into his opponents head and maybe stop him from doin frame-traps.
If mashing a SRK wins a game for you, just do it.
I do not think that Daigo has to worry a lot about average players watching him play bc most people will not recognize a setup/safejump or an os if they see it and even less people will try to find copy setups pro-players do in training mode.
But I guess the reason you do not see a lot of videos from him is bc he plays at an Arcade (like a lot of people have mentioned before) and that he does not upload his wins if he plays on XBL.
Say the guy that constantly launches personal attacks on "Daigo" in every related post to him....kiddy level hun
ROFL.
Onostolemybike, you make fun of Daigo for playing 9 hours a day, but you troll this site 10+ hours day. Can someone say lunatic? You have that real stalker tendency.
Even if it's only trolling and a joke, it seems pretty time consuming, you have like 50 posts throughout an entire day. The joke becomes scary. I could see trolling a few times in the course of a day or week, but you're obsessed. The joke goes from funny to creepy when you tell it 500 times.
@39
Its called critique, I've never launched personal attacks on daigo. I think he's overrrated and overhyped to hell, but how is that personal?
where's the personal attack on him in this thread winston? You just read what you want to read.
When you play online, you are experimenting with new things you picked up. You aren't playing like you would in a tournament. You take risks to see if your hypothesis is correct. If you can't do it 10 times out of 10 online, you learn not to try it in a tournament. Most people on here don't compete in tournaments, so they think online play is the extent of someone trying their hardest.... for "precious" BP and PP points.
@40
oh, hello, are you one of winston's nut huggers?
Btw, you know its easy for me just to close this account, start a new one, or create numerous accounts, say the same thing, etc. etc.
You daigo fanboys need to learn to suck it up, if you're that offended at my criticism of your hero then that just gives me more motivation to piss you off further, good job in getting annoyed. I'll bare your sensitivities in mind.
@44
how many accounts do you have winston, this your 3rd? lol
okay, apparently I'm accused of launching personal attacks on daigo, in that case I may aswell do one now.
daigo is overrated
he hasn't won anything major in ages
he tier whores or...
he plays boring ass ryu all the time
he loses to nobodies online despite being constantly sucked off
he has no personality
he's too lazy to learn english despite all the international attention and trips abroad
he isn't even the most talented sf players around, because everyone knows sako has more raw talent than daigo
he plays 9 hours a day just to play like a scrub against fuudo
that personal enough? good
@46
1) Daigo has been the most dominant player in Street Fighter. Overrated? Nah, he gets all the praise because he plays well and is very consistent.
2) Anything Major? He came here and took all our money in ReveLAtions and NCR and took 4th at EVO. That, itself is a feat. Let me ask you this, how well did you place in EVO? Assuming you entered.
3) So he chooses a character that was dominant in AE, that makes him a tier whore? You realize he's sponsored, right? He's not playing to entertain people by using low tier characters, he's playing to win.
4) Ryu looks boring as hell. Okay, that's an opinion, I won't argue against that. But Daigo's Ryu has done some ridiculous things under pressure that make his, as well as Valle's Ryu, different from all the others.
5) What? Really? You don't say! Everyone loses online.
6) Do you personally know Daigo? Have you talked to him on a daily basis? I'm not saying your wrong, but none of us here really know the guy. He's been doing a lot to help his community in Japan, holding and supporting different events for the fighting game community in Japan. What are you doing? Hell, he's said before that he wants the tournaments in Japan to be as hyped as the USA tournaments.
7) I don't see how that's a problem. No one other than you has complained about Daigo not learning English. People have different priorities, and I don't see why Daigo really needs to learn English.
8) Sako and Daigo are completely different people with different play styles. Who has more raw talent? Who knows. But it's clear that Daigo has been the most dominant player for a while, while Sako hasn't been seen winning anything major for a good while.
9) You realize that Fuudo is not only the EVO 2011 champion, but GODSGARDEN 4 champion as well, right? There's no shame in losing to Fuudo.
As for the video,
Nothing new really, though it is nice to see him play Ryu again.
@50. great post, very poignant and accurate..
i cant believe how many douchebags are on this site.... there cant be a video on eventhubs, with whiny little nerds having a go at player who are fifty times better than they will ever be.
face it, daigo dick sucking blew out of proportion after evo 2004 and the full parry moment, if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be half as famous as he is now
you know whats funny, when I was in japan in 2009-2011 I actually won a few games against daigo in the shinjuku west sega arcade and I'm not a top player. I don't care if nobody believes me, because I know it happened. But here's the thing, I kept asking myself, if daigo's so good how did I win a few games against him?
the simple answer, ssf4 is random bs 90% of the time
anyone playing 9 hours a day thinking they can somehow win against the random factor is kidding himself.
@54
oh, so that somehow makes it less sad then?
doesn't poongko play like 15 hours a day or something?
and these people are heros to sf players? lol
Sako claims he plays 1 hours a day, I can respect that, plus he's married so he's at least been near a bush in his lifetime.
That's the difference, raw natural talent vs players who just play all day. Sako ftw
@53 you didnt beat daigo...you were never in japan...we dont believe you so stfu.
@ a certain troll:
I've read your posts and counter-posts throughout this chain and you always fail to mention anyone more successful than Daigo. It's a very common thing in trolls where they manage to find a backdoor to avoid the things they can't really do anything about.
The truth of the matter is, the fact that you're even WILLING to discuss how "Daigo sucks" for countless hours already says that he's one of the most successful players in FGC.
He is featured TWICE(6th and 1st) in the Top 10 Best Moments in Pro-Gaming History: http://kotaku.com/5820907/the-10-best...
He has more Major Tournament wins than you have braincells in your head: http://beastnote.blogspot.com/p/about...
And he has a wiki page, something none of the other pro players do: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daigo_Um...
State a SINGLE pro fighting game player from ANY era that has accomplished more than Daigo, AS a pro gamer, and I will take you seriously. There is NO ONE in the history of competetive fighting games that can match Daigo's resumé, so how can he be overrated? Just look at his accomplishments in 2010 alone.
And to touch on your pathetic "9-hours-a-day" fail of logic. Daigo plays more than that. You know why? He's getting paid for that. He gets flown around the world for FREE and almost CERTAINLY always returns with a prize in his hands. He's been doing that for well over a decade, earning thousands of dollars everytime in the process. You're a f**king moron if you'd say you wouldn't want to be in his place, since you're an anon posting in an FGC related site.
Stay free, stay salty and keep on hating :).
@onostolemybike
Hmm... that's pretty strange... it's awfully ironic how you accuse Daigo for being a fraud and saying Daigo fanboys are posting forged statistics of his wins... why don't you show us some decisive evidence that you have beaten him in the arcade then? Otherwise, we can easily just say you're just a fraud as well.
you maggots turned this into a thread for onostupid - just stop.
If you don't see the difference in his Ryu from before, you are an amateur. "Same stuff?" What do you expect him to do- program a different move into the game?? Of course he has the same moves stupids. But he plays quite differently.
When did Daigo ever say he plays 9 hours a day post a link? He has a job outside of gaming so I highly doubt thats true.
@#66 http://shoryuken.com/2011/11/01/srk-i...
I was under the impression that he left his job after he became a sponsored player...
@53
Honestly, whether you beat daigo or not in an arcade a couple of times is...well good for you i suppose. He is overall the best street fighter player in history. And yes, there are people very close, if not at, his skill level. I mean don't get me wrong, if i ever beat daigo, i'd be proud. But i could only think so highly of myself if i won three games to contribute three losses to his total over the literally millions of games over his SF career lol.
You know what's funny though? Some people like you constantly knock on Daigo for whatever reason. But if you read or hear the vast majority of pro players, here and overseas, about their opinion of the best player, it's almost always daigo. Fuudo, who you keep bringing up for beating him the other night, ALWAYS always praises daigo and only hopes to be even near his level some day. Daigo himself on the other hand is always incredibly humble, and has always said that he plays solely to better himself and to constantly push himself further. He takes nothing personal, and he is not boastful. That may come across to you as "lack of personality." Just because he is not screaming and getting USA-style hype every win doesnt mean he doesn't have a personality.
If anything, in the last few years he has further developed himself. He sets up many events in Japan and his goal is to get Japanese tourneys to be as fun and fulfilling as the US gatherings. He also now understands that his personal health is a factor in his play, and has even taken up regular exercising and weight-lifting to stay healthy and keep his mind clear.
If that isn't a real-life Ryu, i dont know what is. And that is evident in when he plays Ryu. There is literally no other ryu like daigo's.
Its nice to see Daigo use Ryu again.
