I'm glad it seems like Japan is embracing Ultimate a bit. Would love to see the U.S. take one challengers outside our backyard =)

Honestly, everyone can say what they want. I say wait for EVO. That's the biggest tornament of the year. As far as I can tell, most of the top 8 winners were American.

Don't take that comment the wrong way though. Japan does have some fierce players of it's own, I'm just saying don't count America out.

@7 um really? that's a rather ignorant statement, we have characters like Ryu who's nationality is Japanease and Amaterasu who's game is covered in Japanease mythology

I used to think you were a troll but now i know its actually what you think...

I personally don't care about the America vs Japan thing but using evo as a basis of whose better is stupid when 99% of those entering the tourny are American.

@19 you are taking that comment way out of context, saying MVC is America's game is not implying that its a game only for American's and Japanese or anyone else should'nt play...

All it means is MVC is a game where America is expected to excel, take the Basketball Summer Olympics for example...they say Basketball is America's game at the Olypics because USA usually does well and dominates the competion this is not to say upsets are impossible...USA took gold 13-16 times in mens and 6 out of 8 in women

DarkPhoenixRises said on January 21, 2012 at 12:15 a.m.

I have no idea yes4me....I think that was a first to ten, I was assuming the last match was the one against, The Morrigan/Wesker/Strider and that Strider/forgot/forgot player

Because the Morrigan/Wesker/Strider guy beat the Phoenix player, and went on play that strider guy, after that Phoenix guy returned against another guy for ten games..

Anyway Amazing play between those two! Best firebrand play I ever seen

Ok yeah so the strider player was the winner, that Phoenix match was a grudge match between rivials who haven been talking a lot of smack about each other (it was the Japanese Mike Ross vs Jago match)

I didn't see the stream, but I don't think Marvel is a game that works when played with super clean combos. It's dirty. It's about traps, resets, mixups, etc. Marvel 2 was America's game for the same reason.

When they play other players who do the same things, they'll both look amazing with all these long combos and awesome, flawless execution. But when they run into someone like MarlinPie or CJ who thrive on setups and traps, it'll look a lot different........like OCV different.

@31

You obviously didn't watch the stream.. So why make a statement like that..

There was a really cool strider player who basically ocv'ed this guy soley on resets.. His mixup was ridiculous. The stream was so cool.

And they don't have flawless execution. There were dropped combos everywhere.. more than american players imo. But they improvised really really well on their mistakes. It was a good stream. Too bad you missed it. It was more like watching "combo video matches". Lots of creativity, and different team synergy tech. They don't see the game like america does now.. so there were so many weskers. the teams were pretty diverse and unique.

You remember how Daigo said he was going to win MvC3 in the US? Perhaps he said that because he felt the game was so easy that he got overconfident. They've had access to this game just as long as us. Quit pretending that all japanese players are superhumans.

GokaiGreen, when do you ever have anything GOOD to say? Whenever you say something, you come off as one of the biggest a-holes.

Japan has a different style than americans in marvel games period, I was impressed by alot of the players on the stream. They had alot of really great vergils! I hope they come down to Evo and we can have an America vs the world 5v5 for marvel.
