Beginners can also take advantage of this new system!
Street Fighter X Tekken features a Quick Combo system! Quick Combos are preset combos that can be unleashed by pressing 2 buttons (Light Punch + Heavy Kick) at the same time. However, it costs 1 block of the Cross Gauge to use a Quick Combo. There is a consequence to using them, but players who have trouble with combos will find them very helpful!
Ryu's Preset 1 Quick Combo has a Cross Rush (Light, Medium, Heavy, Heavy attack) with a Launcher recorded! Use a Quick Combo to easily unleash a Cross Rush!
The Quick Combo command can be recorded on the button of your choice from the Controller Settings menu!
It's possible to now deal damage all at once without the need for difficult commands!
If you're facing someone that needs a preset combo button to do a basic 3 hit to launch, then you don't have much to worry about.
If anybody complains that they are making this game too casual friendly or noob friendly I'll lose all faith in you guys.
If anything, by imposing these restrictions and costs on the casual friendly mechanics, it's opening up the community by trying to help these new players learn how to do those things without having to spend any meter or use a gem for it.
We should be happy about this, because there's a chance it could increase the amount of good players online (after a few months)
im glad finally one step closer to my woman playing a fighting game with me
I have been saying this for the longest, Capcom took some major thinking about these mechanics before implementing them. I never complained about the gems, everyone assumed they knew the outcome without even getting their hands or even wait for more info or vids on this stuff. These mechanics they are introducing have some type of consequences to them and if you are complaining about casuals using them then you shouldn't play the game, everyone here is talking like they are elite players and if thats the case then casual players shouldn't be any threat to you when they use these mechanics. The more I look into this game, the more I cant wait to play it.
#9, because that would mean more time and resources. More time = more money so obviously Capcom would rather opt to this easy quick fix.
I mean look at the gems..its a lazy way to "balance" the game.
"Capcom!!! Ryu does no damage!! please buff him!"
Capcom: Well little Billy, you can add strength boost gem to boost your strength! Fixed!
"Capcom!! Character A's health is too low!! Please fix it!!"
Capcom: Well Charlie, you can use the health gem and boost your health initially when the round begins! Fixed!
I wouldn't call it lazy to use gems to balance because it's a business an I'm sure they don't have all the time in the world to rebalance games over and over it used to go hey here's the game oh this is broke or OP so what deal with it and it's a casual friendly game period tournament scene don't see it happening and don't care as long as I get mass fun and time out of it there is madness in it it's like a Capcom smash bros. Notice the wild animations and how all the characters are grossly exaggerated it's all fun and it's ok to play video games for fun and lighten up there are competitive games out there if that's what people want they can play those or you can get wasted with your people and some hot chicks and have fun
@I hate u
the thing is it doesn't matter if the story's good (I disagree fully on that when it comes to MK especially as it forces you to play every non exclusive/dlc character playable) only if they can play it, also I haven't heard much about MK's sales being big or if they're even higher then MVC3 or SF4
#13, sure if you like your games half assed and filled with gimmicks as easy fixes. But hey Capcom is a business and YOU will buy it.
Gems if anything let you cater to your playstyle or weaknesses or strengths it's actually kinda smart now I ain't buying not 1 single gem period and if that puts me at an unfair disadvantage... So what I could care less
#16 lol those were Capcoms words in translation of what I wrote above.
Hey ill give you 5 $1's in exchange for your 1 $10...5 Is more than 1 !!!
@15 it's a video game you ain't really in the department to comment on half a**ing seeing how I have never heard of your video game company you lead and I'm not gonna bash you but it's not serious it's for fun for parties for friends it's gonna be all broken got it but it might just be fun as SH*^
#18, I'm assuming english is not your first language.
But yeah I agree its a party game and should be treated as such. They should remove it from EVO because it doesnt deserve to be there. Doesnt deserve to be played at tournaments due to time restraints ...but thats a different story.
No broken English is my first language but hey I still get paid more than most people that go to college and it makes me laugh all the way to the bank to make my fat A** deposits but do I want it at EVO HHEECcKK no sometimes it's just good to take a load off and chill with a game instead of being so serious that's the only point I am trying to make
#10
Make fun of SFXT for gems but not MK for constant balance patches
lolok
#22, I like how you completely went off topic and had to include MK in the discussion.
In NRS defense, theyre new to competitive fighting and they tried their best to keep the game as balanced as possible for the tournament scene. Nothing wrong with that. I'd rather have FREE balance changes than waiting one year and paying $40.
lolololol get on my level kid.
@23 your like the eventhubs version of a O' Doyle
"O' DOYLE RULES" jk I see the points your trying to make trust me there are some costly gimmicks but I ain't paying for them and I will still enjoy this different strokes for different folks
This is a crazy situation:
If you had told me about "Game X", and "Game X" had all of this messed up $hit in it. I'd say "No thanks, I'll keep playing SF4!"
But this isn't "Game X" it's STREET FIGHTER AND TEKKEN! So now I'm Fu<ked! Because I really want SFxT, but for every good thing they reveal, they reveal three bad things?!?
Wtf:(
It'll be fun to catch a lag match, miss a few of my links, ultimately lose.
Check replay channel, check button inputs, he just pressed Lp Lk, Lp Lk, Lp Lk, Lp Lk, Lp Lk, looool oh the humanity.
Button mapping combos? You guys can't really be getting behind this? Why even play?
Can this only work for magic series or can you specify what combo you'd like it to perform?
Id gladly waste a bar if it ensured a 100% chance of completing a really hard combo with 1 frame links. An example would be evil Ryu's axe kick to medium punch link.
I'm fairly new to fighting games (It's now almost a year since I've started playing!) and I think this is horrible... can we get a tournament and casual mode? I want to filter out people who use this kind of stuff :(
@anabolicchris you're a tool kid Stfu. Do u compete @ EVO? If u do are u forced to register and play all titles? Gate spewing scrubs its going to sell millions and YOU will buy it. Your mad @ Capcom bcuz your a spoilled little turd eat some poop.
Hey danny2times, heard your'e a skinhead..please dont talk to me.
And no I will not buy it. Find proof of me buying the game and ill personally hand you $500. You live in NJ right? I'll hand it to you.
hahaha Hell yeah! Now I can finally do magic series easily! Thank god!
I'm beginning to see the game as what it really tries to be. Now I can accept gems, newcomer-friendly mechanics and all the crap I was doubting at first. I'm gonna have a blast playing this game with my friends (who are really ass at fighting games). Maybe it'll turn out to be good enough for me to take seriously, but that's not my intention right now. That said, I'd welcome a SF game more aimed towards hardcore players at some point.
lol seems like Capcom has a few shills. If you thought a target combo ABCC is hard...not links...a TARGET combo. A dial a combo and itll come out...if you thought that was hard then maybe you shouldnt get into the fighting game genre.
The one button macros are for 11yr and under as well as for GF's and Wifes who may want to play with their significant other.
Hey anabolicchris, nope just a regular dude, live in Detroit Michigan. Save your crappy comments for after you've played the game. Jersey? Jersey shore? Nuff said now go fist pump yo momma.
I'm no sheep skinhead, I wont be playing this childs game.
I'll be at winterbrawl come look for me.
This isn't the first game to have one-button simple combos available. And in fact, the one or two games that did have them that come to mind, didn't have any meter requirements for them.
Not overly concerned about this. As has been said, if you're playing against someone who needs assistance with LMHH combos, probably nothing for you to worry about.
Better yet, I'll look for you because I already know what you look like. Make sure to wear your skinny jeans ;)
@#7
You know what... that's a good way to look at it... otherwise I have no idea why anyone would want this...
Who honestly needs such assistance to do a simple chain series? If my little brother and half-sister can do it(MvC3), then anyone can. All that's needed is an in-game tutorial, not a simple mode.
And lol at "My girlfriend can finally play with me" bullsh!t comment. She's either braindead and incapable of learning the simpliest things or you simply underestimated her intelligence and yet to realize that she's not interested in playing games with you.
Or you could be lying to make a point since it's been stressed in every SFxTK article that may provoke backlash.
skinny jeans are for F@*s yea when your pants are as tight as your girls its pitiful
and news flash most girls that arent ugly as F*C* suck at video games not all but dang near so i dont know where you are meeting all these hot girls that are good at fighting games or even pick simple ones up quick but im calling bullsh**
and actually i have a 5 and 6 year old that love playing capcom fighters and something like this breds future players because at that age it gives them a sense of satisfaction to do cool moves my kids put simple mode on UMVC3 and tear each other up and there is nothing wrong with that some people need to get off there high horses cuz hardcore gamers arent the only ones that are catered too there are games out there for people who want that serious no bull challenge
Light Punch and Heavy Kick?
There's an odd fingering for ya. I mean, I literally fingered it on a Dualshock 3 and it feels easy enough but still awkward.
Yeah, I know you can shift it to be one button but I already have all my buttons assigned and Quick Combo most likely won't be one of them.
Probably overthinking things but if you put an EX move or higher in the QC, will that also take away from the Cross Gauge.
@55 Respect
@55
Hey brotha, I also have young kids that like fighting games. That's why I bought them Smash bros.
SF is kind of a big kids game ya know? I don't invite then to Drink Beer and play poker with the guys either.
They don't add ponies to COD, don't let them turn fighting games into Baby games.
And don't forget that SF and Tekken do have a 1 star difficulty setting. Why not use that instead of Auto Block! Auto Tech! Auto Combo! Auto Eat! Auto Sleep! Auto Sh!t.... You see what I'm saying?
You learned to love/play fighting games the regular way. Let your kids do the same.
@56 thanks btw
but i know people see capcom and tekken and straight up your thinking serious game tight controls legendary tournament play but they just went another direction with it not what most if any expected agreed but there is a place in the woorld for this type of game and its a great type of game to introduce people to capcom by easing them in i have been around fighting games since the dang creation so i aint no noob not that there is anything wrong with that at all new players are always welcomed in my mind
@58
You said it man. It's NOT what we expected. That's why people are upset. We (the angry people) wanted the other game you described.
The one with tight controls and all that good stuff. If you are the fighting game Vet you claim to be, I'd imagine you'd be feeling the same way we do.
Not playing Devils Advocate for the 5 and 6 year old community! We've stuck with these games for 25 years man. I hear SFxT and I'm think Brawl! Not Bottle.
Lol, any decent player won't use these mechanics and will beat scrubs who will, what seams to be the problem? You do t like how they're tryinmg to expand their market, if your decent it shouldn't affect you anyways. Plus you have every tool a noob has, so there's no advantage
@59 i know how you feel and there wasnt any of these wild mechanics back then and i took countless A** poundings growing up but i was a persistent bast*rd too alot of young people or a wide variety of the market have no patience these days either so im sure that has alot to do with it
and no i dont play beer pong with my kids either lol like that point though
People, remember you don't have to be worried about these new casual and party features being implemented. Four-player scramble mode? That has a low chance of being used in any competitive sense. This is just another new feature to try to draw in the casual crowd a.k.a. more players to keep this game alive. Features like this and Assist gems (auto-block, auto-tech, easy commands) all have drawbacks that would totally invalidate a skilled user from using them. These features ain't no easy-mode Phoenix from Vanilla that'll have cause all kinds of turmoil and ruin the game.
And even for the big issue of gems, know that tournaments can simply just choose to not have them. Yeah, you probably won't get by in online ranked matches without the use of gems, but I'm sure you can still have online player matches with people that prefer to not have them. I'm neutral about gems at the moment, as I can't tell if they're going to be game-changing or easily ignorable in a match. The worst I see is people who use gems going for a common set of them that is obviously better than other gems. I'm thinking health/meter boost and defense gems could be good.
@62
I'm all for the Fun Stuff! I like modes for parties, I like modes for kids. But why does the main gameplay have to be a cluster Eff!
All games have filters, side modes, all that good stuff. I play COD in Regulat Team Death. My friends play HardCore. Different strokes for different folks.
Why can't this game have modes? Is that really so freaking hard? Everyone would be happy.
I love how the idiots at capcom put exclamation points in the front of these sentences like some how in hell these are great things and good ideas! what a bunch of idiots, yeah, lets water down fighting games, that'll make us more money. I'm gonna refrain from using the language that's in my head, but any one with half a brain can guess what I think to this &^(*^&*%^*()(&)!
Auto-block gem is godlike. You guys have no idea what you're talking about. Get out of ambiguous cross-ups for 1 meter? I WOULD GLADLY DO THAT. Lose a third of my meter to not lose a third of my health or more? No way I wouldn't make that trade.
Also, LOL at E.Ryu Forward Axe Kick > crouch strong link being hard.
Unnecessary but if ppl want to use it sure. I'm a total scrub and I am not even afraid of the combo presets, why are the elites on the site afraid of it? This is a serious question BTW, instead of just bitching about it I would like to know why people think this is a threat online?
BTW Did no one notice that it was only one on one, just saying...
@66
I think what's scaring people is that a difficult combo that people sometimes take days to master can be set into one or two buttons and that it won't teach new players anything.
That or they're just bored and love to bash on this game.
But you know what? It is just an optional setting. People just need to calm down and move on.
Also, kudos for catching the one on one. Hope Capcom announces that as a feature!
@ Chris Damn dude I knew that was you! Lol! What's up!? Been like what 3 years? Yeah most these dudes don't know me like that round here, they don't know how I traveled for a living and hit the local scenes but that's cool. I'll be seeing ya man. Skinny jeans ftw!
why doesn't anyone ask for a simple tutorial. I mean it could be jsut the basics like blazblue gave and i think blazblue was a much more ummmmm seperating game(i think thats the way to put it) wiht all the meters and such. And they taught you what each meant and let you experience it. Then you could learn basics of your character like a combo, anti-air, super and such. I mean wouldn't that be better than giving casuals and obvious disadvantage.
OH and also i mean yeah you could say 'but then so-and-so gets satisfaction.' well what about when the obvious better player mashes his/her face in because they got no meter and the player pulls off bigger, better, and badder combos adn supers and such.
When i was younger playing tekken2 i 'sometimes' mashed out somersault kicks. But any1 who was clsoe to me knows i spent i hefty amount of time in training coming up with combos(not just those 10-hitters) and felt good when i would show my bro,dad,and uncle.
BTW im 16 so i was 6 at the time. Noone babied me about playin except for the occasional win but im a beast now because of it.
Instead of letting the game, play for the newcomers.. how about teaching them how to play instead?!
this is just pathetic.. if someone uses this.. they clearly dont want to learn, play and enjoy this game!
People who uses this should'nt buy it.. seriously..
Man they are really trying to open up this game to newcomers. More power to 'em.
