Cook the thing is you have to make sure you land that combo, which seems like it would be hard against a real enemy(they just have a dummy) also you can only activate pandora when you're below 25% health so it's a really big gamble since even then pandora still only last 8 seconds

Seriously, this does not look like a big deal. Everybody's been up in arms like gems = X-Factor Lv. 3 Hulk against Phoenix with no meter. They said they'd be balanced, and you know what? They look balanced. That Intermediate set with all the attack boosts AND a Super still only did, what, like 50% damage on Asuka? Especially when you can tag out, that's not earth-shattering.
about @7 Again from a dummy, the thing is anyone who's smart will know not to go near a wall bounce character when they're in the range of activating pandora and they have an unknwon gem set that hasn't activated during the match, especially Hugo who's all about the close range game. It's basically the fact that yeah you can combo into Pandora like that, but how many people easily set themselves up when they notice you can active pandora? when you haven't activated any gems?
i can understand having ryu and ken but i wish capcom just added heroes that didn't make it into sf4.

No I dont Warground, but The objective of most playable characters at the point your enemies got a noticablely lower health is to make it hard for them to damage you, so I'd get a distance away when they have low health and try to kill them from afar. I'm not presuming or saying "it should automatically be like this" or anything just saying what any player should know to get at a distance where they can effectively hurt their enemy and make the enemy have to take bigger risk then you're taking in order to make their plan to work. And that last sentence makes no sense as no one said anything about being a 100% health however I'd probably tag in my other character if I had a noticablely low health...again just something a smart player or any player should do.
Everyone here is forgetting that Pandora is essentially a ticking time bomb.
If you have enough life, it won't matter if they catch you. They'll still drop dead.

@16 I meant dummy as in "NPC tranning dummy" because warground is using the example from the Video above where it's a training dmmy not calling anyone names. Also I'm chill, the thing is you can block the wall bounce attack, you don't just have to eat it, plus that puts another huge factor into the mix as the enemy has to have atleast 80 soemthing% of their meter as they have to do the wall bounce move which is an Ex for Ryu and then pandora into super(which only would require 60% meter as it's been reduced by 40% for super arts)...
So literally the factors behind this are pretty numerous

-Warground gems might be banned in toruments(it's up in the air) so it might end up being a No to your last question.
-Again you'd have to connect the combo into a wall bounce (and have the meter do do super after the wall bounce which is an EX move for Ryu) which those can be blocked then you'd have to pandora into super which sounds like a bitch in terms of execution.
-For your howarang with less then 100% health I don't know because I didn't know howarang has less then average (1000 usually) health.
-This game has a different flow so keeping a character out might not be as hard.

Again since gems might not be able to used in tournements that'd make the combo above which is with a character with a boosted 30% attack noticeably less damaging (450 at most imo). But if gems are allowed then Yes expect to see alot of 'close matches" ending with Wallbounce into Pandora into Super for the finish

Pandora has a time limit. If people use it at all, the only time would be for some extra "oomph" to finish off what would most likely be a dying character.
In short, if you're in a position for your opponent to use Pandora on you, you were dead anyway.

Defense boost gems increase overall defense by 10%, so a move that would do 200 damage would only do 180, since 20 is 10% of 200.
Damage resistance gems have a fixed amount for all moves in general, so a super that does 400 damage would only do 300.

I like the gems as it makes mirror matches more interesting but you're just a little b1tch complaining about everything. You think they are gunna take out pandora because you said you don't like it? Lol grow up.
I don't see this being a big deal. You're still going to have to hit confirm for anything that does decent damage, and anyone who can do that is going to be able to land their combo anyway, and probably opt to do it the old fashioned way and save the meter. If scrubs just go around throwing out these "quick combos" they're going to get hit with a punish for the price of one meter.
If you're so worried about Pandora than equip the +30% defense gem which activates when your opponent goes into Pandora. That 672 dmg combo becomes 470 with that gem equipped.
I like how people fotget that 650-680 dmg was capable by SFIV Sagat if he landed a jumpin st mp x dp FADC f+HK Ultra.
This still looks like SF4 Easy Edition (and horribly ugly, with a lot of sh--ty characters I chose NOT to play, since I picked SF).

SFIV isn't the prettiest game around, and those flashing rainbow colors aren't doing the character models any favors. That goes double for Pandora.

It looks like we, the hardcore fighting game fans are no longer good enough for Capcom. We fought many years to become the best we can be, and look what we get now.
And now Capcom just makes the game noob friendly. Just jump in the game and do your combos with easy inputs. Not easy enough, select a few gems to make it even easier.
This game is a stab in the back of the real SF fans. The inputs from SF4 series were easy enough.

I agree, the SF4 inputs were relaxed, but the game still relied on execution. That was the "Do Not Cross Line" IMO.
No offence to party games, but I think we were expecting something different from a game carrying the Street Fighter and Tekken logo.
Meh, people will complain about this just like they complained about X-Factor, Wesker, Sentinel, Yun, Akuma, etc.
At the end of the day, UMVC3 is about as balanced as a game like that can possibly get (the top and top-mid tiers are probably 12-15 characters deep, and even the ones in mid are pretty awesome) and AE 2012 is pretty damn solid as well.
I'm not in love with the gem system, and I'm very dubious as to the potential for abuse of certain gems, but I'd bet it still lends itself to some extremely high level play with some really close and exciting matches.
Pleased to see others from the smarter side of this community actually typing out against this child's play. I am so tired of some of these "fighter fans" acting like since CAPCOM did it, it's 100% right or legit. Been throwing Hadoukens on World Warrior since I was 2 years old and to those bitching to us who dislike these obviously humorous "mechanics" as well as cheap style of repeated animations/models in a "completely new game" despite it being a crossover or not, it's next gen and 2012, damn it.

This game looked really cool, like five builds ago. Now it looks like Ono had a little too much joker gas and decided to cover everything in rainbows. the marvel combos are not really appealing either. I thought this was supposed to be the greatest crossover ever? yet it seems more like a marvel versus game. abcdd bc SHORYUKEN. that was hard.
Can they not glow so bright with the gems?? Pandora: It should lessen your life bar to 1 instead of a time limit, so it forces the other player to fight you at some point, instead of running away. esp cuz this game has alot of Teleport chars. it will be hard for every char. to kill them if its time based. Now if its life, they might want to fight you still to make ur life go down much faster, but with time its just playing keep away. Spread this idea. blast his twitter!! lol

It's all supposed to be for fun, but what fun is it for people who take fighter's seriously when to us, all we would be purchasing is Gem Fighter IV feat. Tekken? I understand you may not get why people like me, who have been ritually playing Street Fighter since World Warrior and looking to be GREAT at each game and sequel from then on, totally DISLIKE what this "new game" has to offer and thus will NOT be playing it. We have to take a back seat and await another year plus for the possibly more innovative crossover and HOPE they do it right, before feeling cheated again and just going back to a previous fighter already out, of our choice, which we are ALREADY DOING in our free time.
Stop being selfish and telling us to "be happy" with what we are given. We are the fans who WANTED this crossover not to SUCK in the first place. They're just a company making video games. I like the look of the game, I agree that the colors are a bit much, but some of the fight mechanics look really good.
I'll reserve my judgement on the game until about 3 months into having it. It's ridiculous now to piss and moan with all sorts of hyperbole about how Capcom is raping your childhood or some nonsense, but none of us really know what the game is going to actually play like at the more hardcore level.
And it's not their responsibility to make games only for hardcore gamers. There's usually a lot less potential in games that ONLY cater to the hardcore. You need to mainstream it up a bit, because if you can bring in a wider audience, it's more money for the company, which means more money to make better games all around, and more competitors paying for tournaments that we all so enjoy participating in and watching.
In short, take a breather. Let's be patient and give the company that is probably most responsible for my competitive gaming addiction the benefit of the doubt because they've been delivering the goods for a long time.
I'm predicting that the application of those sets in tournament will actually be reversed. New players will end up using the pandora gems, and pro-players will end up using AutoBlock to guard against unblockable setups. All the while your typical tournament goer will bitch about the middle set being the set that is the only one which takes "skill".

Question: Why are there Pandora-activated Proficiency Gems? Pandora gives, as I recall, infinite meter, and you generally don't have much more time than a super in Pandora mode anyway.
Seems like a second pandora-activated Attack gem would be more worthwhile, if such a thing is allowed. I don't recall if there is any restriction on using two of the exact same gem. But even if so, a less powerful attack gem with alternate activation conditions still seems like a better idea, unless I'm missing the use of the proficiency gem entirely in this context.

So, basic mentality that you are telling me to go by is, wait for the game to drop before stating obvious issues with it that are obvious? If you've been UNDERSTANDING where I am coming from, it IS NOT about stopping a game already way too far in development. It's about getting the true people who would have ACTUALLY played this game out for about 3 years BEFORE EVER getting bored with it, and expressing how we no longer even want to try it thanks to CAPCOM rehashing OLD GAMEPLAY with CHEAP colorful gimmicks and disguising like they are doing it to appeal to casual gamers who don't take these games seriously.

First quit using all caps it makes you look like your twelve, second that wallbounce combo they showed only did 617 out of 1000 thats slightly above average combo into ultra in SSF4 and then you lose if the combo didnt finish the opponent because pandora would only have 2 seconds or less left so its really not that big of a deal. I play KOFXIII a ton and that game allows 100% combos given the right conditions and even those conditions dont make you lose if it doesnt finish the opponent then and there, so really this pandora combo thing isnt the biggest threat in the game I would say a mix of attack boost gems is the biggest threat if they could all be activated in a combo that leads to a 50/50 reset or hard knockdown then after the reset/hardknock down you still have a seemingly up to 50% attack boost for up to 15 more seconds.

Ever since SF4, Capcom has always focused on the "easy to learn, difficult to master" mechanic. They want the game to look stupid attractive to new players, but once you dwell into it, it becomes a whole different story.
Remember how 3S players said SF4 was "too easy" when it came out because of the shortcuts and other stupid stuff? Well look at it now. Nearly 3+ years later, the community has pushed out tricks, combos, and situations that never could have been imagined during SF4's development period. The countless YouTube videos, tournaments, and famous players have emerged from it.
What many of you need to realize is that many of you are bashing an entire video game based on some demo videos and amateur gameplay. Yes, I say that everything we've seen so far is amateur because nobody has really taken the extensive time to fully master the game's mechanics. Please, just be patient. Everything looks pretty childish now, but months from now, we'll be seeing some pretty insane top-level gameplay that we never thought possible.
Congrats, you guys made a great game turn into a bunch of color flashing sf4 characters.
