While this is getting into the realm of actual news instead of fighting game content, since SOPA has been covered here multiple times, I figured it'd be good to update readers on the situation.Even as a European I say this is tentative good news.
I didnt think that would pass, with all the ruckus ...good stuff!
That's good news. Obama Administration really dosen't care about this bill and they know the consequences of passing this. The bill was just too broad. They should be focusing on laws and problems that are the most important right now like Debt, healthcare, unemployment, immigration, war that needs to be stopped. Stuff like that.
I think a collective "FVCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" is in order here
@18 Which boycott? Which one worked? The boycott against the white house? That wasn't a boycott, that was a protest. I'm talking about all these idiots who are like "DURR IM NUT GUNNA BY ANEETIN FRUM ANEEWUN HOO SUPORTZ SOPA, EVUN DOH DATZ EVRBUDDY HOO AIN'T AN INURNET CUMPANEE! ILL TOTLEE SHO DEM HOOZ BOZ!" And they think that they can destroy these companies by just going hipster, even though they're just ants. Even if there are thousands of them, they're still insignificant. Also, they're not going to hit their wallets, because almost all of these boycotters just pirate the stuff anyway. And even if they're just sending a message to them, they're being counterproductive, because they're message is "you better not support that anti-piracy law or else we're gonna pirate your stuff". I think it's obvious why this is an ineffective message.
Just saying, I'm completely opposed to SOPA and PIPA, but I'm also opposed to ineffective actions that only serve to make those involved feel like they're doing something (like OWS).
@22
wow every point u put up is wrong lmao. boycotting a company is not useless if 100 000 people boycot a company they will cange there minds all they care about is money if not supporting the sopa bill will earn the company more money then they will not support it. sending messages online is not usless it helps spread the news and if more people find out then they will also be against it unless they are trolls like u and go definding a company that doesnt even care about you lol? and dont come tell me that your not a troll. someone who calls people idiots or insults them is clearly a troll.
The fight will never end. We have to keep fighting to make sure that this bill will NEVER see the light of day again.
@26
is that all you have to say? you should keep in mind that not everyone on the internet speaks english as his his native language and i didnt feel like spending to much time on my message i have to sleep soon its 11 pm. and again your going for the trolish aprouch your just a troll.
@31 I take it you're not too fond of my trolish aprouch.
Lol @ the people saying "Obama 12!" simply because he was too busy signing the NDAA bill rather than the SOPA bill. Of course, no one here would know what that is because it doesn't concern fighting games. Only civil liberties. No big deal.
@ Dr Robotnik
Man stop hating already. He misspelled a few things, and had some grammatical errors. Whats done is done no need to troll him any further.
On topic
Im glad this news has surfaced because SOPA does exactly what they said they will not support. Honestly like i said before it will cause more harm then actually solve anything.
But it's all part of my trolish aprouch (seriously, though, I'm just messing around at this point).
just wait there will be super sopa, super sopa turbo, and super sopa turbo hd remix
LMAO@ idiots who thinks boycotts are not effective especially during times like these, 100,000 lost customers? ants? LMAO tell that to netflix
Useless?
You mean like
Viper's Optic Glasses
V. Joe's Dodge
or
Swiss Cheese?
^_^ are you in the correct comment section? I don't see anywhere where someone took a joke made by you out of context..
@47 I would perfer Ma'am, Madam, or My lady, but please Enlighten me, I see the obvious troll but I don't think he's being taken of context what so ever.... I thought maybe u made a joke but I couldn't find it, so I thought u were on the wrong page
@50
Oh sorry then Miss, This comment right here is one of the examples I am referring too "Lol @ the people saying "Obama 12!" simply because he was too busy signing the NDAA bill rather than the SOPA bill. Of course, no one here would know what that is because it doesn't concern fighting games. Only civil liberties. No big deal."
Ok well thanks for pointing that out InitialR I looked 3 times and looked over that comment 3 times... I can only agree with with ur intial post then regarding that example
Lol @ 54 xD
But yeah , good for the white house. Still , we should keep in the back of our heads who was for the bill & against it...
Capcom should not support SOPA just because they are under the ESA. Do they realize that it is the strong community (which I assume is against SOPA) that contributes to it's current success. Capcom stands opposite of YouTube which is a source that helped put recorded matches and garner plenty attention from fans all over. There are other video game developers who at least have a neutral stance.
It's clear that the majority of the nation will be against this bill, but it's the votes that counts, and that is what is so scary about SOPA. The thought that it could pass because we don't vote.
@57 People are misinturpiting Capcoms stand with SOPA, they supported SOPA because it was an attempt to stop piracy something they wanted and I agee something should be done (but not SOPA). However Capcom realized that they have a community that would be effected so they would'nt ban players like you and me from putting their content on the web.
The real problem here is that this does'nt just effect the FGC it effects everything digitally made and recorded. It would'nt stop EA from saying "OK you can't stream our games anymore without permission." So as you can see, it was pointless boycotting Capcom because it would'nt have solved the problem. You have to protest and vote. Thats your only real weapon to fight anything that legally hurts you and your rights.
@34 There is more to that story than you try to lead on to. And to assume people here are not smart enough to follow politics beyond gaming and digital rights is just a sad attempt to inflate your ego. No offense.
personally I watch MSNBC, CNN, and Fox (though I detest Fox) daily and see both sides of the political fence. And based on the mess that I have seen, I will say it again. Obama 12....or else.
@40 The Netflix thing wasn't really a boycott, people just only stuck around for the free stuff and then left when they took it away. They weren't going out of their way to avoid Netflix, they just stopped liking the product. (inb4 "LOL DUMBASS THATS WHAT A BOYCOTT IS")
Yay!
Now we can worry about PIPA!
