coldviper, how is it to make more money, most of the gems have effects you can get by combining 2 gems you already have and the dlc gems usually take up 2 slots, so with that in mind if you have the DLC gem you now can only activate it once a match, while if you have 2 gems that equal out to that DLC gem you now can have both effects or one but not the other going at the same time... basically it'd probably be more strategic to use NON DLC/paid gems as paid gems take up extra slots
But i though the Capcom phags at Capcom-unity said they would never have DLC that affected gameplay? Pretty phucking sad that i used to love this money-grabbing company.

but gems are already apart of core game play so unless you find a gems that breaks the game in the DLC gems(which all have been basically combos of gems that exist in the core game and in some cases worse versions) also you're forgetting activation conditions also play a huge factor as it doesn't matter if you have a gem that can make you practially take 5 damage from a cross art(no gem like that exist), if you can't activate it.

Live in Tasmania, pre-ordered my Special edition for $108 from EB. All the gems (which I don;t give 2 sh*ts about :P) plus an ARCADE CABINET and UDON comic :D I am okay with this completely.

I also do not see how pre ordering a game is paying more!? It is simply paying for it in advance. Retailers offer exclusives to try and earn your business since the developers are constantly trying to cut them out offering their games on their respective sites.
PREORDERING a game is NOT paying more. It is the exact same cost. I am getting the game, I want it paid so all I have to do is walk in and walk out. It is not rocket science people. If you are retarded and NEED al pre order bonuses, buy all and return them later. If you live paycheck to paycheck then I suppose preordering would SEEM crazy. Do the math, budget your life better, and enjoy! =)

well the activation conditions are different cuz everyone plays differently. lets say u just like to sit back and spam with sagat for example and u play really defensive ur gonna wanna pick gems that activate when u block a certain number of attacks or when u hit ur opponent with a certain number of special moves but if ur a more offensive player and u pick someone like rufus who is always in someones face u might wanna pick gems that activate when u land a certain number of hits ect. so far this game truly only has about 10 different gems but each gem has about 4 or 5 different activation conditions, so depending on how u play u can still pick the gem u want. if each gem only had 1 activatoon condition and u didnt like it u would never use the gem thats why they gave us a bunch of ways to use each gem.
I see some mods can't take people POSTING FACTS about the fagzz at crapcom and their money-hungry azzh0les.
This game will most likely bomb anyway. Thank god. 27k copies sold here wo go! DEAD.

From what I've seen, the gems don't really do much. It's a very minor boost. And the attack boost and defense boost are basically the same - they cancel each other out. The speed boost only affects movement, it doesn't change the framedata on moves.
Once the game comes out I think people will realize all this complaining is for nothing.
I guess everyone forgot about the boost gem that had to be activated with pandora, while the dlc boost gem condition was to activate it with 2 launchers. If you were watching the stream you would've noticed.
the only spectacular thing he could announce for me is inclusion of Karin, Mika, Alisa and Christie into SFxT roster...other stuff doesn't interest me at all in this game...and as the whole my hype metter drastically fallen after Pandora BS got announced and even more after Gems got announced...
@58 capcom will make most of their money on this game from the sale of the game itself. Besides being an innovative system to stretch the longevity of this game, the gem system will also bring in capital after the instant hype of this game dies down. I've got no problem supporting a game and a company that has been entertaining me since I was four. I don't know why everyone else doesn't feel the same way.

I want to buy this game for Hugo and Rolento but all those gems are gonna hurt. I'm not in USA, Australia or in Japan.
Bottom line is, people will always complain about gems because they need something to hate about the game. First it was Pandora, then it moved to gems. It's lulz exploitable.
Even after seeing gems in action for the first time on the stream, they'll still spread the hate around just to do it. Anyone who actually was watching the stream they did can tell you the gems really don't affect the gameplay as much as they would have you believe.
It's just the only thing they have to hold on to let them hate the game and feel good about it. It really doesn't mean much in the end.

@Frankwest, I'm okay wit their choices, it's me as someone who knows in the end the gems won't effect gameplay as much as you seem to believe, if scrubs want to pre-order or pay for it, that's on the person who bought them but to me the fact that I can make combos of gems that match the effects of the pre-order DLC, you aren't okay with it but that's fine it's called difference of opinion oh yeah you can say ass and fag...just don't call anyone those words. Who wrote this story? Whoever wrote it has a LOT of info wrong. First fix you should put is that the Special Edition that's available at any place in the United States (NA) will have the 4 preorder gem packs PLUS it has its own preorder gems. What I read on Amazon just now for the SE, it said that for $69.96 you get all those gems, the comic AND the DIY little arcade cabinet. Not just 2 packs of gems like the story states. Find out your own information guys.

I'm just happy with my game. I don't really care much for those pre-order gems because I'm sure you will end up getting better gems in the game. The pre-order ones will probably just give you a temporary illusion of an advantage until you actually start earning the in game gems. It's how most games with pre-order items are.

capcom isn't "forcing" anything on anyone either because it's been stated time and time again that even though their plan is to implement gems as a core mechanic you don't have to select them when playing the game but on the flip side there is no option to turn them "off"

I don't understand why there is that hatred tournaments like evo have already banned gems so you just don't select them in the character screen, and when playing online you could ask your opponent not to pick any..if you're playing someone online who's been following the game they probably won't use any either problem solved

Their are only two versions of the game the regular edition 59.99 and the Special Edition 69.99 there is no collectors edition or super expensive edition just those two if you are interested in the gems the better buy would be the 69.99 that is all...

There are only two versions in NA. The Special Edition if pre-ordered comes with all the DLC gems. This article needs to be fixed.
