Rumors have persisted that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 only sold 30,000 copies, but USA vice president, Christian Svensson again laughed off those claims on the Unity Boards. He also talked about the time line for the PC release of Street Fighter X Tekken, and Ono jumped in about porting that title a Nintendo console via Twitter.
From what I read, while no one can prove their claims, multiple sources say Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 only moved 30,000 copies. — The Chosen One
Svensson: *Laughs* No.
When will Street Fighter X Tekken be available for pre-order on the PC? — Jean
Svensson: Typically about 2 months before launch. And as I've stated before, the PC will be slightly behind the console release as development is trailing the console versions. It shouldn't be too long after, though.
Please... Street Fighter X Tekken on a Nintendo console, you said you wanted to do it for the 3DS, remember? — LunirLlednar
Ono: Personally, I'd like to make it... ;(
He is right MvC3 sold 44,000 so far, Media Create and Vgcharts confirm this.
Svensson I know as marketing you can't the game did bad because it hurts the company, but don't treat gamers as if we don't know whats going on and that you can lie your way through things.
I wonder if Tekken x SF is also going to get released on PC¿
Seeing as how Harada is allowing us to vote on the characters we want for that, I'm more excited for that game now.

Anyone that has been on the internet long enough knows that VGchartz is notorious for giving out false information. If you still believe it to be valid then I don't know what to tell you. Seriously, why some people still quote VGchartz has legitimate info on anything is beyond me.
Media Create only covers sales in Japan. So if they say that the game sold 44,000 copies IN JAPAN, then that's actually pretty good. But I'm gonna assume they didn't actually say that and you're just pulling numbers out of your ass since Sven already said he didn't expect sales to be very strong in Japan given that there is no arcade release and that MvC has never been huge in Japan to begin with. And given vanilla MvC3's subpar sales in Japan, I don't see why UMvC3 would suddenly change that trend.
I know UMVC3 didn't do as well as Capcom liked. The Capcom VS Whatever games are starting to loose their appeal, fast. SFxT isn't even as hype as it's supposed to be.
either way, UMVC3 didn't sell well. if i's not 40k ,then 50k.
Actually, according to vgchartz (which is has a reputation for unreliability), UMVC3 sold over 70K copies (PS3 44K + X360 30K):
http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales-...
So I'd say the game sold at least 100K copies.
Usually Capcom like to boast their figures. I guess they'll just skip on to sfxt and keep quiet about umvc3.
To be honest for as much as I will complain about gems in Street Fighter x Tekken it would be awesome if they added Captain Commando in the game.
It would involve with him traveling back in time stopping the whole Pandora disturbance and helping the Tekken and Street Fighter characters.
@mustain21
That's still wrong, those sales are only based off of Europe and Japan. The question is, why haven't they posted American sales yet?
100K? nope, I'd say around 500K copies in total from all countries combined.
I'd say America sold a total of around 400K to 435K copies combined with the XBOX and PS3 sales.
UMVC3 suffered because it was released on the coat tails of the original release, and lengthy touch-of-death combos definitely scared away all the casual fans. It would have fared much better if they had just delayed MVC3 and released it with the features of Ultimate.
Now, most casual fans are likely scared away from buying Capcom fighting games. Why buy one when they'll just rerelease it later with more content? Not only this but it looks like half of the characters from SFxT are imported directly from SSF4, and on the other end of the spectrum the Gem System has not made a lot of friends with hardcore fans.
Basically, Capcom is gonna have to step their game up if they're gonna want to keep their fighting division afloat. They need to quit with the shoddy business strategies if they wanna win back public support.
@16
Not really, Capcom is focusing on the casual gamers, which is a greater number than the hardcore gamers. They also made it clear that SFxT will NOT have an update like for instance a Super SFxT, but rather just DLC. I saw that coming a long time ago. Just watch, the game is going to have over 50 characters more than UMvC 3, and will not have an update based upon that reason. I think Capcom is actually worn out from doing updates after updates actually.
@cadnexus, you're disagreeing with what I said without carefully reading or understanding what I said. I clearly stated that vgchartz is notorious for unreliability. I also said that UMVC3 sold AT LEAST 100K based on the numbers provided by vgchartz. That means any number above 100K doesn't contradict that statement.
Don't contradict people before you understand what they're saying.
I will never understand some of you people.
Scenario 1: UMVC3 sells a boatload.
"F**K Crapcom! All they do is milk their franchises!"
Scenario 2: UMVC3 doesn't sell well.
"F**K Crapcom! That's what you get for not listening to your fans!"
Seriously, what is with you people? Nobody is forcing you to buy these games. If you don't like them, then why are you even on this site?
UMvC3 is an update, not a new game.
It's not going to and it's not supposed to sell anywhere near as much as regular MvC3.
Look at the SF4 series. Each release sold much less than the previous version because they were mere updates...and those were considered successes by Capcom.
Maybe y'all should leave the business analysis to the pros...
You're crazy, though, if you think UMVC3 didn't do well by Capcom's standards.
Again, if you hate Capcom so much, then why are you constantly pissing and moaning on a Capcom-Oriented site?
We get it, you don't like Capcom right now.
My question is, how many times are you going to keep saying it?
So will they make any more additional content or patches/balances for UmvC3 or is Niitsuma done? I will buy them even if they make another version of the game I will buy it.
Noizychild is definitely part of the Capcom Defense Force, lol. Anyone who cries that much about legitimate complaints and realistic sales figures just has to be.
Really though I like their games too, but damn kid, take Capcom's wang outta your mouth. They don't pay you to swallow their loads. If people don't like a game that you do, ignore it and keep playing.
@36 *facepalms* you could say the exact same thing for yourself.
"damn kid, take the anti-capcom defense force's wangs outta your mouth"
"they don't pay you to sallow their loads."
see what i did there?
#36
Can you be any more ignorant?
I never said I had a problem with people not liking games I like.
The problem is when they have to bitch and moan about it over and over, ad nauseam.
I do believe umvc3 only sold 30k-50k cus I play n see the same people almost everyday
#24 Go F**k yourself if you cant handle the pressure of the peoples comments who they sent to Capcom and if you cant handle it go on a another website and complaints about your falses and cry like a baby for what I dont care because people vote because they believe that their character whether or not will make it...just like I believe Yun and Yang will make it in Street Fighter X Tekken :D XD
release the same crap games twice within a year = fail
Assuming that the game didn't sell well (regardless of numbers) I guess it goes to show that Capcom can't just shovel out the same game, despite quite a few changes and improvements, in the same year and expect people to buy it all over again. Especially when there is no option to upgrade the previous copy at a discount.
Capcom is really shooting themselves in the foot with all these horrid decisions. Just like the gem system being an obvious ploy to squeeze more money out of people directly after they just spent 60+ dollars on a game. Hell, Capcom seems to be overly happy with flaunting that fact in all our faces. Do they just not understand or are they simply that bad at marketing and PR?
You guys read the VGChartz UMVC3 sales data wrong. The data is for the first 8 weeks within game's release, NOT how much it sold total. The USA data is also missing.
What is NOT wrong however, is the sales trend. The game did horribly after the first week and sales never picked up. That is in contrast to original MVC3 where the game did well for 4 weeks in America before it trailed off, Europe sold steadily and Japan just ignored the game.
For UMVC3, the game did not sell in Europe. In Japan, 22k picked up the game on PS3 on day one, while 67k people picked up vanilla MVC3 on day one. That is about a ~66% decrease. In Europe, it was a 92% decrease. I can only guess the American numbers, but if it follows a similar trend to Japan, then only ~274,000 copies were sold between both consoles.
Just give me Sakura and Karin !!!
