Updated: Top 8 for SSF4 AE v2012 singles and top 4 for 2v2 teams have been added into this story, along with archived footage from the event. You get to check out TS|Min's T. Hawk in action here. Note: The UMvC3 tourney was cancelled due to lack of entrants.
@5
just a shame about all that blatent counter picking then, half the counter picking specialists in the west (arturo etc.) wouldn't last 5 minutes in a character locked japanese tourney
@9
well they didnt show results for UMVC3 so im wondering if the tournament is still on..
@10 people who don't counterpick are people who don't know how to use all of the options available to them.
you dont counter reavers with zerglings
To everyone complaining about counter-picking:
Let's say you're a character loyalist. That's fine, but by default it means that you need to know every single match-up with that character. So if you lose to someone who counter-picks you with someone they don't main(and thus don't know as well as their main) then it simply means you need to learn that match-up better. There are not un-winnable match-ups in SSF4, so if you lose the only person you have to blame is yourself.
tl;dr: If you're losing to people who counterpick, get better.
Made it through 3 minutes of Arturo's mumbling, stuttering, laughing for little or no reason, random 'eSports' comments, excessive 'ooohs' and 'ahhh' and 5,345 shout outs before I had to shut it down. Really wanted to see Min's Hawk, but wanted to have some commentary to go along with it. Can we get someone to dub over it?
The stream (or in my case the archives) was good and there were fun matches. Commentary wasn't the best.
@21
You'll just have to watch the games on mute then. Arturo was at his "best" during the Min vs ChrisG Finale.
@22
Agreed. It's as if the commentators forget they are being streamed and are just having a private conversation.
Arturo may be a talented player, but as a commentator he is an absolute annoyance.
@ 19
Everyone counter picks. Daigo, Mago, Justin Wong, Americans, Japanese, and Europeans all counterpick.
I can certainly see why people would want "serious commentary", but I do feel there is a place for it because it can make some people laugh. That said the real disaster of commentary is in the 2nd video. Sounds like 2 dudes who picked up the game a few months ago and have no desire to gain an intimate knowledge of the game trying a bit much.
Agree with 22, 23, 26. I appreciate the stream and donate _EVERY_ time I sit and watch-- at least a few bucks. I'm a weekend warrior type of player. More than a novice, but not nearly a pro. I get that this is just a video game and not serious reporting so I love when guys make a few jokes here and there and have fun with the crowd or whatever, but in my opinion the vids are unwatchable. The matches are amazing and it's a shame that we don't get some insight from a top level player on what's going on. That T.Hawk had some stuff I've never seen before and I'd love to hear about them. Instead we get ridiculous and annoying banter about nothing with the occasional point about the play. I'm hoping they level up their commentators.
lmao am I watching the Team sp00ky stream or Rush Hour 4?
