Tip from JapanguyGM.
I'd rather have no Darkstalkers than a Darkstalkers with dumbed down mechanics, dumbed down execution, x-factor like come back factors, and money robbing DLC that changes the game mechanics.
With that said, hopefully SFxT flops like a fish on land.
I think you may offtrack with capcom producing another versus series. they're obviously not gonna let up on this fighting game thing they got going again until the numbers drop again. I think a brand new game all together may be the way to go at this point. Actually as a fighting game fanatic thats what I want as well.
If there isn't going to be anymore DLC then what is Nitsuma's team doing? Making a new game?
No DLC????
WADDAFUK????? Megaman would be a sure fire hit. All the people who bitch about the megaman fan boys... You gotta admit, there's a lot of them (And willing to play as their favorite character.)
Also, I never understood the hate against wanting him in there. Are some people really against extra content???
My problem with no additional DLC to MbC3 is that they basically stop supporting the game, patches or not. Capcom is quick to sell DLC of stuff that already exists on the disk, but nope.jpg when they actually have to do work that wasn't part of the development period.
I dont mind a dumb down darkstalkers as long as I get my darkstalkers,I hope sfxtk does really well I am pretty sure ALOT of casual players will pick it up for sure I know I will get it,also I actually dont wanna see a mvc4 just yet maybe in the next 3 or 4 years if anything I actually just want dlc characters for umvc3 maybe somewhere down the line, now as for another vs game I wanna see a namco vs capcom or maybe shonen jump vs capcom and of course a CVS3!!!
The problem with this is that UMVC3 is essentially all of the planned DLC for MvC3 released on a new disk.
Also, on a more humorous if what I've heard about tiers is true, Wesker's pretty much achieved his dream of godhood. Sentinel, Magneto, and Storm were the Holy Trinity of MvC2, with lesser gods such as Cable backing them up... Who would you say is the Holy Trinity of UMvC3?
@Paine: "My problem with no additional DLC to MbC3 is that they basically stop supporting the game, patches or not. Capcom is quick to sell DLC of stuff that already exists on the disk, but nope.jpg when they actually have to do work that wasn't part of the development period."
Sorry to bork your conspiracy theory, but it has much less to do with scheduling than sales. Maybe all the fans have chosen to believe that UMvC3 has been a gigantic success, in which case they are bewildered by the idea that DLC might not be forthcoming. I'd suggest everyone reorient their beliefs to fit what's happening.
Games go into development years before we hear about them. Nintendo vs Capcom is probably already in development.
Usually smoke means fire, and waaaay too many people are whispering about Nin/Cap for their not to be some truth behind it.
And MegaMan's conspicuous absence could speak volumes toward that theory. Nintendo could have agreed to a game if they had MegaMan exclusively in their title. He was a staple of Nintendo's early success.
Can anyone say.... Wii U launch title? Seems plausible.
Max a new Dark Stalkers will be coming and I belive its just so they dont murder us with Street Fighter titles and end up killing the genre again. Street Fighter 5 will be along ways from this year.
But fighting game heads like Capcom ARC (BlazBlue Team) Namco and others will be more open to working together i believe. In order to bring the genre back. I think Dark stalkers is next then another crossover like CVS3. which Capcom has already had on their lips more and more everytime i check the tweets.
SNK did well and is coming back after KOFXIII the game you cant help but respect and the HD 2d feel i think capcom will let SNK take them back there lol and maybe they will use KOF characters and give them a 3d feel like SSFV
Nintendo X Capcom sounds rediculous only because they dont even look right standing next to eachother. and in what way would they make the game. marios bulgy cartoon nose with ryus 3d/2d tough glare and muscles. hmm idkk about that. if they do it Capcom is amazing then :D
PS. i think blazblue team and Capcom should work on the Dark Stalkers game. (Persona 4: Ultimate Mayonaka Arena! check it out. these aren't the only fighting games worth blogging about!)
1- No more DLC for UMvC3 is awkward. Just because Japan's not much into DLC doesn't mean the parts of the world aren't. I say they should release DLC for America and Europe only, they would sell better. Why can't Japanese developpers make better advertisement outside of Japan. DLC doesn't work in Japan ? Fine, they should try elsewhere, instead of mandatorily have Japan in their sights.
2- Nobody wants a Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2 ? WTF ?!? Come on, it's more balanced, more entertaining and even better than UMvC3. If they keep the 26 characters and add 26 more, that would be a blast. Oh, and it should go multiplatform this time, especially due to the Wii/U-phobic gamers out there.
We had these:
Ken the Eagle, Jun the Swan, Casshan, Tekkaman, Polimar, Yatterman-1, Karas, Doronjo, Ippatsuman, Gold Lightan, Tekkaman Blade, Joe the Condor, Yatterman-2
Ryu, Chun-Li, Alex, Morrigan Aensland, Batsu Ichimonji, MegaMan Volnutt, Kaijin no Soki, Roll, Saki Omokane, Viewtiful Joe, PTX-40A, Frank West, Zero
Now add these:
Jinpei (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman)*
Ryu Nakanishi (Science Ninja Team Gatchaman)*
Rip (Kaitou Kiramekiman)**
Itadakiman (Itadakiman)**
Yattodetaman (Yattodetaman)**
Hikaru (Rescueman)**
Tetsu (Zenderman)**
Tanpei (Time Bokan)**
Rin Yuki (Muteking, The Dashing Warrior)***
Komugi Nakahara (Nurse Witch Komugi)***
Speedy Cerviche (Samurai Pizza Cats)****
Ace (Space Ace)****
Speed (Speed Racer)****
* They both appear in Ken's ending, and Jinpei also appears in Joe's ending. Furthermore, there are 3 series and 2 OVAs featuring Gatchaman, hence one member representing each version.
** The evil trios from every Time Bokan series appear as cameos in Yatterman-2's ending. As a sidenote, there are 2 seriers of Yatterman and 1 OVA featuring the Dorombo gang as main characters, hence one character representing each version.
*** Both were planned, as revealed in the secret file (MuteKing is the guy in red armor).
**** Speedy and Speed were heavily requested, and Ace comes from Tatsunoko's very first series, so...
C.Viper*
Mike Haggar*
Dante*
Spencer*
Amaterasu*
Arthur*
Chris Redfield*
Phoenix Wright*
Strider Hiryu*
Gene (God Hand)**
Asura (Asura's Wrath)**
Nina (Breath of Fire)**
Edward Falcon (Power Stone)**
* They all appear in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, so they would basically play the same, and would be easy to port.
** Those are personal favorites of mine.
52 characters, no DLC required... and one helluva game. Who's with me ?
@JiCi I want Tatsunoko 2 ^^
and I pray every night to every god in sky that we will get it and that it won't be forgotten now that Marvel is back on the scene
also what about Dio from Casshan as an extra Tatsunoko character?
@#22
I would prefer to keep it at "one character per series" for now, just so we can get a diverse roster. However, since there is Casshern Sins, which like the Gatchaman and Yatterman series that have multiple reboots, we could get him as playable... unless they go with another protagonist like Lyuze instead of a rival like Dio. Basically, Casshan would represent the original series and we could get another character to represent Casshern Sins, just like we could get all 5 Gatchaman members, 3 that represent the 3 TV series and the other 2 that represent the 2 OVAs.
That's my major gripe I have right now with UMvC3, especially with the Capcom side, we have several overexposures of series:
- 2 SFII characters (Chun-Li and Akuma)
- 2 Ghosts n Goblins characters (Arthur and Firebrand)
- 3 Devil May Cry characters (Dante, Trish and Vergil)
- 3 Darkstalkers characters (Morrigan, Felicia and Hsien-Ko)
- 4 Resident Evil characters (Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker, Jill Valentine and Nemesis)
I know some people like these characters, and that some other people think it's about time that these characters get a shot in a VS series, but here's my argument: This is what I loved about TvC, one character per series for Capcom, I didn't get flooded with overexposure. Furthermore, they added Zero, Viewtiful Joe and Frank West, but stopped there. Why not replace Akuma with Alex, Firebrand with Kaijin no Soki, Trish with Saki Omokane, Felicia with Roll, Hsien-Ko with Batsu Ichimonji, Albert Wesker with Mega Man Volnutt, Nemesis with the PTX-40A and have Vergil and Jill Valentine (or Chris Redfield, depending on preferences, although give Jill a hybrid moveset between MvC2 and Chris's moveset) by other characters from 2 other franchises such as Sengoku Basara, Power Stone, God Hand or Breath of Fire ? It's like they said: "Quick ! We need characters, regardless of the games they originated" instead of taking the time to select more IPs. Ever since TvC, I would have prefered 25 Capcom characters in UMvC3... from 25 different series instead of getting some overexposure.
I can say the same for the Marvel side... especially Storm, Sentinel, Magneto, Pheonix and X-23 for the X-men. However, Marvel makes their decision that Capcom doesn't have the word on... but they do have that same final word for their own side.
@2
why would anyone want sfxtekken to flop? yea wouldnt it be great if that game didnt sell and capcom stopped making fighters for a few years again? you are on the wrong website.
#27, you are an idiot. Think outside of the box then maybe you'll understand my post.
Oh and to answer your question, I wouldnt mind if capcom bankrupt. One less SOPA supporter to me.
how about marvel vs capcom vs square enix... how bout a level three omnislash, or level one meteor rain? barret doing a level one ungarmax hyper... sephiroth vs vergil....i think they could do it as long as they keep it the same style as mvc3
@28
yeah im an idiot good one...thats some "outside the box" name calling.
@25
Ryu: SF 1 (main character)
Chun-Li: SF 2 (main female character)
Alex: SF 3 (main character initially)
(Incoming wall of text)
How to put it... the SF games are special cases, because each series has its own set of characters. Let me explain:
- SF 1 has only gotten 1 game with a "roster", because Ryu was only playable.
- SF 2 has gotten 6 games with a different roster, with Chun-Li as the first female character in the series.
- SF 3 has gotten 3 games with yet another different roster, with Alex being set to be the new main character... before fans complained that they had a shoto (Sean), but not Ryu or Ken.
- SF Alpha has gotten 3 games with a different roster as well. Here, we had characters from SF 1 and SF 2, but also brand new characters like Rose, Dan, Sakura and Charlie.
- SF 4 has 3 games so far (SFIV, SSFIV and SSFIV AE) and a different roster again. However, it is composed of ALL 17 SF 2 characters, a bunch of Alpha characters, a few 3rd Strike characters... and 8 brand-new characters.
Furthermore, if you take a look at Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, you'll notice that each character, on the select screen, has their respective game/series logo next to their portrait. Ryu has the SF1 logo, Chun-Li has the SF2 logo and Alex has the SF3 logo. While UMvC3 doesn't show any logo, you can pretty much deduct that C.Viper represents SF4.
Finally, the SF series is almost 5 different games with the same characters, because the fighting systems change depending on the series. Alpha, 3rd Strike and SSFIV have different mecanics, like the Alpha Combo, the Parrying and the Focus Attack. They don't play the same. All in all, if we would have gotten SF Alpha, 1, 2, 4 and 3 in the right chronological order with only 1 game, then I would have pick only 1 SF character, because all 5 games with have been proper sequels... However, since they are sequels of sequels and sequels of prequels, it's almost we have gotten 5 different series with the name Street Fighter slapped on them, hence my reasoning for having 4 different SF characters (if you include C.Viper from my choice), since each comes from their respective series.
Hope that clears thing up for you. I'm not "breaking" any logic here.

@26
No, I'm replacing UMvC3 characters with TvC characters, so Zero, Viewtiful Joe and Frank West wouldn't be the only characters salvaged from TvC. It's not the same thing.
I hope after Street Fighter X Tekken people stop buying fighting games for another 5 years. Lets just enjoy the SFIV, MVC3 and SF X Tekken. We finally get a good quality product in Street Fighter 4 and again they keep throwing more crap to make people think it is good $h!T but its not.
thanks capcom for cheating us out of our own money and your broken pos game whatever keep ur f*** a** game. Capcom your new name should be Crapcom
The only reason I'm upset that the game may not have any DLC is because it feels so lazy in the first place. Ultimate has none of the extra modes that made SSF4 worth the purchase. Plus the exclusion of so many fan favorite characters.
This is one game where fans are pretty much begging for a (worthwhile) reason to throw their money at Capcom. Give us what we want.
