ArcadeUFO has uploaded a video where Fubarduck and Frieda broadcast the anti-Phoenix tech discovery of an anonymous Japanese player.

Watch how aerial X-Factor can allow you to get in a second shot at an exchange while preventing the Phoenix player from countering.

Damn, I knew air x factor would hurt pheonix but not like this. Pheonix hasn't been doing very well in tournaments but this proves the bitch is dead. Sure it's not absolute but its an incredible mind game, its too risky to use her now. Already poor help, needs 5 meters, can't use meter and now this? The bitch is done.

Nice sh*t, Fagcom. Not only that I have to mash side exchange whenever I am being comboed like a lunatic, now I need to worry about this mixup?

TAC is the STUPIDEST mechanic in any fighting game I've ever seen. What kind of logic lies in rewarding the user for a 2/3 chance?

Was this really necessary.........

@14 Sentinel isn't much of a crutch, he's full of weaknesses and I have never played him.

And I play Wesker on point, so if you can't kill my first character then you're the one who's handicapped. You can borrow my "crutches."

Krownclown said on January 12, 2012 at 10:42 a.m.

@15 shout outs to all the real wesker monsters, the people who play him on point :)

hahaha wow she's done, she was broken anyway so they needed to nerf her.

bullitt23 said on January 12, 2012 at 11:11 a.m.

@10 what rewards a 2/3 chance? Rock, paper, scissors maybe?

TAC's are fine, they were fine to the majority but a little thing like this seems to blow rational thinking out of the water.

SnakeEyez said on January 12, 2012 at 11:42 a.m.

@10 TACs aren't that useful anyways (besides the gaining/removing of supers). I can do more damage with my original character than doing a TAC or two and finishing it off with another character. Also, why take a chance that they can counter your TAC therefore losing any potential damage you could've done. I only use TAC when I want to remove/gain a super or want to switch out characters, and even then, I do it sparingly.

Just churn butter! It prevents TAC more often than not.

Shout out to over-nerfed characters getting patchlessly nerfed again.

TAC is not useless, its great to use to get in a team member safely if you dont have hyper meters to do so and you dont loose your red health. its better than hard tag in and get punished.

Oh! I thought we were talking about the lawyer, not the mutant.

Cool, I guess.

Skeez said on January 12, 2012 at 12:34 p.m.

@22 lol, overnerfed? Every Tron main from vanilla would like a word with you. Oh, not to mention the lawyer mains from month one.

Jean is still good, even with this existing. You know what nullifies this entire mixup? Shocking Pink assist. Sure, Joe's a weird fit for a Phoenix team, but you should have to work to get the beast, right?

DarkPhoenixRises said on January 12, 2012 at 12:34 p.m.

With Phoenix I do everything possible to trick my opponent into dealing enough damage outside of combo'ing her because online, you don't even need that trick...exhanges just work majority of the time, mashing or not.... So by the time you knock her into the air, your aircombing is too much damage to exchage her

No this won't work i play phenix and that won't work on me. sorry :)

@19 Lol did you drop out of primary school?

#28
bullitt23 said on January 12, 2012 at 2:33 p.m.

@28 lol....Was you dropped on your head as a child? Seems it

And nope i have a university degree, a few additional qualifications in my related industry. My education is fine thank you, it is yours i worry for though. You can't even debate to primary school standards without resorting to dragging it down to non-sensical childish comments.

TAC's are fine, they're nowhere near pointless nor are they overpowered.

#29
mozart0341 said on January 12, 2012 at 2:59 p.m.

@27 how won't this work its a complete 50/50 even more so, you guess wrong on the first TAC you lose a bar plain and simple unless you guess right the first time i already tried it online against a non scrub DP it worked

JustEddie said on January 12, 2012 at 3:04 p.m.

Do people really think Phoenix is "dead" xD? I reckon it's the same ppl who thought Wolverine was done or Vanilla Sentinel was OP.

Mark my words, as soon as we see Phoenix do well in a major, the chats will be blown up with sarcastic "She was nerfed?" comments. Competent players will keep her alive with proper team building (people that don't use her a crutch I mean) and will still blow up other teams in less than 10 seconds flat upon Dark Phoenix's arrival.

TL;DR Don't be fooled. Despite keeping DP subdued being more manageable in Ultimate, she's still a problem.

As for this topic though, this is some pretty cool tech. T'is a mind game that will weed out the brain dead Phoenix users and force 'em to really keep on their toes. Nice find =)

nitrocan said on January 12, 2012 at 3:38 p.m.

@29

Lol good job on comparing the chance of TACs to rock paper scissors, advanced math right there.

Kurow said on January 12, 2012 at 4:52 p.m.

The entire feature of remove a "super meter" was created as a anti dark phoenix option. It is a surprise that is not until now that players found that it is a great factor in any match when Phoenix is in.

She got too nerfed and they can remove meters from you now. She is pretty useless now if you fight someone that know what he must do to win.

Awesome tech right there

#34
SavagePope said on January 12, 2012 at 10:14 p.m.

How is this "overpowered" tech? This REQUIRES you to have at least 2 characters left + XF + Phoenixs hp high enough to not die before the SECOND TAC hits... Not really overpowered, if you manage to pull off this situation out on a phoenix you outplayed her, plain and simple.
