Somewhat locking down an expected time frame for the PC v2012 patch of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Vince posted an update on Capcom-Unity today.Thats the thing with SFxTekken. In Tekken 6 they gave us all of the costumes FREE! SF...kinda doesnt do that.
I recently started playing AE on PC and I wouldn't go back to console. I wish had bought the PC version earlier.
why so longgggggg
:(
offnote: still haven't installed my PC copy...
i want it on steammmmm (assuming that they push updates there)
At least we have a timeframe now, hopefully they will beat it and have it come a bit earlier!
Glad others @1,3,5 are also diggin the PC version.
Another bonus is that your PS3 pads will work, even this(PS3 only) one that I just bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005...
PC Players can use existing PS3 OR Xbox360 controllers both, so its not hard to move from console to PC, or to just get the PC version for the sweet mods and better online/load times/graphics etc.
@2
The price of Tekken 6 alt costumes were included in the price of the game. If they were free, then someone worked for nothing.
@8
If it's so easy, why don't you do it and share it with the world? Thanks!
@10 and 11
That's only half the job, the other half is distributing it to the world. Unless he managed to find a hack to do that too.
@12 GFWL distributes the patch. It doesn't take 2 1/2 months to get certification or to upload a 11mb update to the microsoft servers.
Also you CAN get the patch from anywhere in the world by simply going to the SRK forums and downloading it. So it is being distributed to the entire world just not via automatic updates.
@15
The other thing I forgot to mention is that the so called patch you can download from SRK is neither complete or bug free.
Anyway, the most important thing to remember about any development is this.
@17 I do development, I'm working on my own project right now. I have people I've known for almost a decade now who work as senior programmers/level designers for Relic/Valve/Gas Powered Games and another who graduates from Digipen in a year and a half.
I understand the basics of how this is handled.
I also know that the patch isn't complete (i actually stated flat out it is only about 85% of the listed changes) and of course it isn't bug free it was made using tools created by fans using trial and error techniques. Capcom however has professional developers and access to the source code base and the full list of changes (as not all changes were listed in the dev log) as well as the clout with microsoft (due to the size of Capcom) to be able to put a little more pressure on MS for speedy certification (compared to the experiences had by developers I've talked with such as Team Meat)
The only person who comes off as ignorant of how this whole operation is run is you.
Capcom most likely has not even started developing the PC patch and have it on their project board but are instead putting all extra resources on SFxT for PC to try and get it closer to the release date of the console version (as Capcom USA is the development team for the PC sku of both SFxT and SSF4 and the two games share resources according to Svensson)
The issue with that is that while we get SFxT sooner, the game will suffer in sales due to Capcom's shoddy support of SF4 PC. But if they pull resources off of SFxT PC for SF4 PC then SFxT gets released later and fans also get pissed about that.
The big difference between the two directions of course is that releasing SF4 2012 sooner and SFxT PC later will secure more guarenteed sales in the future by showing increased post-release PC support from Capcom and will have more people who purchased SF4 also purchasing SFxT. However doing it the way they are doing is a gamble and they are banking on releasing SFxT PC closer to the console release date will garner a larger number of NEW customers as some people may purchase it for PC instead of a console.
all you need is 1 man for 2 x 8 hours, tops!!
the move properties are just a bunch of tables with values that already exist for the arcade version (which is 100% compatible in game assets with the PC version)
if some guy without the internal SDK can add most of them by hacking files in like a week, someone actually working at Capcom would do it efortlessly in 2 days (including testing)
@18
I think you missed my point. I was just saying what Capcom has to do to release the patch is not as easy as what Yeb did. It isn't exactly trivial.
Although I won't argue that they are taking their own sweet time, it still doesn't change the fact that it won't come out sooner unless Capcom makes a profit for it or release it ad-hoc. (Refer to the project triangle)
Well, maybe you can try convincing them that releasing the patch first is will generate more profit. No point convincing me about it.
Is anyone else having problems logging into the Windows Live for Games service through SF PC? keeps telling me that the service is not available at this time or something..
Hilarious. I was just watching the SFxT stream, and the Capcom guy laughed when the PC version was brought up. The guy brushed it off in a very unimportant manner and said that they're finishing the console versions first. Something else he said caused his translator to start laughing, as well.
Their attitude toward the PC is obvious. Frankly the callous dismissal from the capcom guy on stream pissed me off.
I seriously regret ever buying their game and the costumes at this point. :-/
pc players are very interesting with the mods they do like the sfxt combo mod they did i wud luv 2 see 1 with yun guy and anothr ken 1
