I was hoping the would be the shape of a Gem :)
Sorry for tripple post but the PS3 pad version looks wired which is great for tournaments. Should have been wired to begin with.
When is madcatz releasing those pads with the interchangable parts I heard about so long ago? I've been waiting a long time for those haha.
Those were released? I thought the previous ones were prototypes.
@12
Hori has always been the superior one imo. Even though technically now they're both basically the same in terms of parts, I would still prefer a Hori over a Madcatz.
I think the only thing that Madcatz has over Hori is the ability to dual mod or even triple mod the stick.
Don't see the point of buying a stick just because it is the offical this game or that. My current stick works just fine and even when it is faulty i will just replace the parts rather than buying a new one entirely.
The pad looks similar to the sf4 one although wired. Might buy that one for a friends bday
I hope they are more durable than the last ones. I love the fight pads, but the build quality was incredibly inconsistent. Some of the dpads on ones I bought turned crap after a few hours.
Also, why would anyone prefer wireless? I have these pads for both the 360 and the PS3 (wired for 360, wireless for PS3) and the input lag on PS3 was atrocious.
@19
I've only used wireless MC pads since they came out. I love them. But I may as well become a MC repair man lol.
I've fixed and or replaced virtually every part on these pads to keep them going.
And wireless was a MAJOR FAIL! The RF doggles burnt up constantly, or fried eachother (if you tried using two). They weren't even tournament legal!
Wired is the only way to go. If they ever try wireless again they'd better skip the crappy RF switch and spring for Blutooth.
think about it 200 dollars for a single console stick in which the only thing different from other TE Sticks is the fact that if you spend an extra 220 not counting Shipping and handling is that you can attach them together and make some sort of a retarded abomination. Compare that to spending about 220 on a multi console stick, yeah can you say asinine, boys and girls?
@23
Too be fair to the product, I use them a ton! So wear and tear on a pad is expected.
I've become very good at fixing them, so mine rarely break. IMO its the best controller on the market. But I'll agree with you that they suck ass due due the wireless doggle.
But it's a testimate to how good they handle that I put up with all the BS so that I can use them.
I also like the 15th anniversary Nubitech (<-spelling) controllers. The Hori FC3 pro also looks really good.
But MC pads with a wire = Epic Freaking Win IMO. It's been too long. Been using/fixing wireless pads since 08!
I used to have a MC rep named Jose's personal line on my cell phone contact list! I $hit you not. That's a true story.
I'll never use the slide in thing unless I'm building an arcade machine.
Love the stick though :-)
The D-pads on the pads better be re-enforced this time. I went through too many.
Luckily the one I am using now(sf4 round 2 version) has been good for well over a year.
Oh yeah and WHEN are you gonna make a PAD that BOTH SHOULDER BUTTONS are on ONE SIDE..
Guys this is GOLDEN. --------------The shoulder button above the pad is crap, PUT IT ON THE OTHER SIDE next to the one above the buttons!!!
@31 yea I checked the gameshark store. They are there, a few versions too(pictures)
i like them.
only thing is that they're f**kin' HUGE
what is the difference between the pro and the versus stick? and what does the turbo button do?
The Quality is worth the $ if they dont break. You might get 1000+ hrs of entertainment out of that 160$ or 200$
You cant do that with movies or 95% other forms of entertainment.
Cant wait to buy this on PC.
@35 - The VS has some sort of connection feature to link 2 sticks.
Turbo rapid fires a button if you hold the button down, some people like it, others don't.
@37those two sentences contained the most information i have ever read in my whole life. But the connection feature is the only thing that makes it cost 40 dollars more?
And so Madcatz continues to make ugly looking sticks.
I think that TE-S Namco Edition is their best looking stick. No crappy art on it or anything, just a sleek black look, Namco logo on the side.
@38 hah Thanks, yea its the first time I heard of the connection feature built into a stick. Its a little bigger and has different rubber feet on the bottom I think. See the Gameshark store.

@39 YEA! I will check that out man! I use diff chars and use those for 3p and 3k and hate when diff chars ultra uses the pad shoulder button. Too awkward to press when I need to use the pad for motions.
@42
Dude that looks awesome, are you sure you can use 3P and 3K both on ONE side though??? Some make it like R1 and R2 are mapped and you cant make them both work on the same side. Is there an XBOX(I use PC) version?
@45
My understanding is that you can map the shoulder buttons as you like. This was the problem with the first Fighting Commander. And people complained, so Hori fixed it.
At least that's how I understand the story.
I think this is PS3 only (I might be wrong). But PS3 stuff usually works fine on PC right?
Check out that tilt feature on the D-Pad! Such elegance lol. I was about to buy this, but I'll probably grab the MC one now. I'm just too hooked on the floating D-Pad.
I think I am gonna get th HORI one, that feature is AWESOME how you can flip those top buttons, looks like you CAN make them both work up there on ONE SIDE. Thanks!!
Good VIDEO review HERE:
http://www.amazon.com/PS3-Fighting-Co...
From what he says, you CAN make them both on ONE SIDE.
This is serious pad innovation and well worth the $ IMO.
Glad you pointed me to it. It has everything.
:D
@49
The MCZ PS3 wireless one works(I got one to play on friends PS3) so I am sure it will work on PC too!
Im interested to learn what constitutes the extra premium for the VS sticks. Is it just that it "connects" or is there more to it? THis press release is very confusing to me. an all metal chase would be a good way to justify such a steep price for essentially a Sega 32X-like attachment. I like the design of the VS sticks, but I feel the $150 price tag of the original TE was spot-on for a this target audience. If anything the price should be going the other direction as materials for sticks like these get cheaper due to volume of part orders... If these sticks were pre-dual modded, then it be a no brainer, but a single console stick at $199, come on Madcatz the FGC will not hunger after these like the OG TE because there is, "tu meni" other things on the gaming horizon to blow our hard earned dollars on.
why do all companies not realize that a single floating d-pad on a controller is ass for fighting games. sony is the only one that has it right.
I'm surprised they did not announce an SE stick along with the others. I have to agree about the ps3 pad finally being wired. Makes me wonder if anything else has improved with it such as the build quality.
As for the actual sticks, the new one which you can connect together with another stick looks great. I love the shape although I would have no use for the connection feature. The new pro stick looks good also. I think this version looks better than the limited edition that was being sold earlier.
Although I like these sticks I doubt I will buy either of them simply because of the fact madcatz sticks cost more cause they use official artwork for a stick. Why pay more for a madcatz stick when you can get a Hori with the same parts cheaper or a dual modded Qanba or Eightarc for the same price?
How many times have we heard someone say if it wasn't for the license adding to the cost they would buy one in a heartbeat. I'm not trying to sound negative as if they're not worth it because in my opinion the designs of both sticks are great i love them and the feature of the new stick makes it worth its $200 price tag, but I feel that if it wasn't for the license art adding to cost there would be more people buying sticks from madcatz instead of going to competitors.
sticking two sticks together is a nice feature for people that build cabinet, but even then it was never an issue for builders, the extra feature is always nice but I think they really needed was to make their sticks cross-platform or they'll fall behind the competition (Qanba/8-arc). And the price, 199$? a same quality stick from Qanba/8-arc is around 150-180 and it's cross-platform, obviously you get more for your money.
