Updated on Feb. 12th: Lynaken has sent in more of the participating teams. The character count representation in the tournament has also been updated.Kind of sucks that there's no US qualifier. It kind of sucks that there aren't many big Japanese tournaments that US players will go to. In fact, I don't think there are any since the US will boycott SBO after after what happened last year.
Wow. I'm surprised Shiro's team got eliminated.
I was really hoping Sasaki would make it though. I love watching his Cody. :(
US players can go there to enter those tournaments.
@9 If Itabashi switched to Hakan, US would be in serious trouble. Hakan is crazy good now. He just might make an appearance @ EVO2012!!!!
Glad too see Y24's Chun-Li make it in. Hes probably the only pro Chun-Li player left (i think) glad to see him keep the spirit of Chun alive thats dediaction to who you like not who's top tier or something wish alot of pro players understood that.
hmm.. i wonder who eliminated team Shiro (Makoto), Shungoku Neurosis (M. Bison), Hanamaruki (Sagat) and team Osugi (Cammy), KOK (Evil Ryu), Pie (Sagat), both of them seem pretty solid.
The only player i reconize from the qualified teams is MDR (Rufus), i guess new talents are making their appearances.
You got Kazunoko / Nemo / Bonchan listed twice.
That team and the Shiro/Neurosis/Hanamaruki team are the two I'm most surprised were elminated. Both look to have good synergy in character choices and good players as well.
T-SRAI (Blanka), Vegeta (Gouken), Bon (Ken) is a team that I'm not surprised were eliminated. While all 3 are really strong players individually their character choices don't seem to mesh well for covering bad match ups.
Michael Tan (Ken), Mizoteru (Blanka), NO NAME (Evil Ryu) same thing here.
Oni is a great character for 1 or 2 games tournaments.
@23: Oh man, the countless hours I wasted on his channels watching Nakano TRF/A-cho/NSB tournaments. Loved vanilla arcade videos. AE arcade didn't get nearly as much love in youtube. Have had to resort to watching them in Nico Nico.
@#19 @#20 I gotta say im kinda disapointed he droped Chun-Li, but on the other hand he is useing my second favorite character Juri so its cool. I guess he likes the bad girl more so than the good girl lol o well, im still holding out for Y24 all the way ;)
Anyone got a link to the Oni pic used in this post?
Im surprised Kazu, bonchan and nemo's team got eliminated, they are probably considered the best of their respective characters and covers matchups petty well.
ELIMINATED:
AC Revenger (Abel), Umeso (E. Honda), Haneyama (Juri)
QUALIFIED:
Naruo (Ryu), Haneyama (Juri), Shinochan (Oni)
Anyone care to explain as to the discrepancies in the list?
that is not fair that daigo doesn't have to qualify for it... dude's seen scrubby on stream recently...
@32 and 33;
thanks... I wasn't aware of that. But isn't that a little unfair for the other players.. I mean, that's the whole point of forming and being a team in the first place right? if a team didn't qualify... then why would one or more of the players on that team join another team just to have a chance to qualify again.. seems like there's no team loyalty and honour in that. If you lose and didn't qualify.. then that should be it.. tough luck...
but meh.. that's just my two cents on the matter anyways...
more info? American got most of the points. There are no point for most EU, Korean, jp players unless they go to other tournaments.
Basically, the top seed player is not the best player. The top seed is the player that went to the most tournaments. And most tournaments are in US.
momochi lost to mago and tokido very early in the tournament.
Guess what American will have the top seed this year. Who ever got the top seed is clearing not the best player and everybody knows it. Basically, the system reward only the American players and sponsored players.
US, EU, JP, Korea, AU should only have 1 tournament in their area that give out point.
Not Asian has one evo tournaments then Americans have 15 tournaments.
This is why players like Tokido say Europe > USA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTs70N...
Dude that match was so sloppy on both ends. Besides US already demolished Europe multiple times already.
I think Tokido practically gave the match away. The last match when Tokido dizzied him, he did quick rise which allowed Guy to recover. All he had to do was quick rise Ultra or anything and he would of won.
tldr; Tokido didn't care and the Guy player is terrible.
I'm backing Poongko, Gamerbee and Ryan Hart to win!!!!
Character usage is really divers now, I could have never guessed that juri is the most used character, I think this is one of the most balanced version yet.
@Juri players
im telling you right now. if a Juri player wins...get ready for some bitching/bandwagoning.
i don't know, if his team failed the first time, they can try again.
Very surprised at the number of Juris in this tournament. Tied for 2nd most used character? *jaw drops*
@66 This is true, and tier lists by their very nature are based on win % rate vs the other characters. So even though there are 7 sagats through, they probably won't fair that well during the actual tournament. Maybe he's an easy choice for high health, tiger spam reliability/effectiveness.
Wow Sasaki got eliminated? That's sad.
