Playing Street Fighter - A training mode video by Desk

Desk added this note up on his blog concerning what his latest video details.

I get tons of mail about what kind of things to practice and/or what techniques to work on to improve execution. I originally intended this to be simple, visual examples of plinking (both timing and frequency of use) but it soon turned into something hopefully a little more interesting. Also, I haven't had access to a camera for a little while and since now I do, I wanted to do something with direct feed + actual inputs.

Hit the link above to read the entire entry.

Tip from DK_Brawler and Rafael2487.

Does anyone know the button setup desk has? Or what the normal button layout is?

i'm pretty sure he uses the two extra buttons for triple punches/kicks (for ex moves)

when he does the ex hands combo with honda, he pianos it differently then doing jus regular hands

if you land any of these combos you automatically win regardless of the damage, just stand up and walk away, you are a champion.

@ex_ein obviously didn't get it the statement. I think cris25 was saying "desk sold his soul to the devil for those skills."

Maybe he uses the extra buttons for the select button, cause you can plink lp and lk with that. I would be surprised though.

I would kill to have that sort of execution, just simply amazing, can't wait to see how he go in this year's EVO.

He doesn't ever use the last two buttons on the end of the stick. His pinky is always near them but I watched it again and he never hit them. A couple times he came close but it was only because he was using med/fierce buttons to plink with and moved his hand over closer to them.

I think he uses last buttons as 3*p and 3*k, you can see this in the honda combo part 2:35 where he pianoed the last button to get the ex version of hundreds hand.

There's a lot more to winning a match then just combo execution in a controlled environment. Even if he could do it as flawlessly in a real match, it's probably not very significant in a game like SF4. So, I'm not sure why people think desk will do well in Evo based on his combo videos alone.

If he wants to compete in a tournament, he'll get my support but there is no reason to pressure him or build him up to be something he is not. Just enjoy the game.
