If you'd like to know what the criteria Capcom looks for when they're checking out franchises to do a cross over game with, Christian Svensson dropped some knowledge on the Unity Boards going over what the company's stance has been historically.I would like to know would Capcom ever do crossovers with bankrupt, dead or lesser successful franchises in the future? — Sean
Svensson: When we talk about cross over partnerships, we have historically consider a number of elements:
1. How cool are the characters/universes we're talking about?
2. How popular are the characters/universes we're talking about?
3. How could the gameplay of said characters/universes mesh with our own and what interesting outcomes could come from them?
4. Would such a match up and resulting gameplay and excite fans?
Any of those points could trigger a conversation. With that in mind, please understand that the answers to those questions, and how strongly or not strongly people internally feel about a given property has a lot to do with personal tastes, creative vision and even territorial biases.
We haven't heard much about the Sony guys in Street Fighter X Tekken. Even when they are shown, its in bad quality or just bad gameplay. So we will ever see these guys in action. like in a trailer yet? — Final Fight x Tekken
Svensson: Guys, we'll have more info/assets on these a little closer to launch (and more cool stuff too). So the short answer is, we'll figure a way to show you them more a little later.
I would like to know if there is a way to patch the 3D edition of SSF4 on 3DS so character themes play on online matches. — Frankwest27
Svensson: Sorry Frank but there are no plans for a patch for SSFIV:3D Edition.
Svensson forgot the last and most important element:
"5. How much $$$ can we milk out of it."
Give something awesome and I'll be happy to lactate moolah for you Capcom.
capcom vs dc
capcom vs nintendo
capcom vs sega
capcom vs konami
awwww yeaaa
@5
your appsolutely right. they dont make a game unless they APPSOLUTELY think it's going to sell well for them(nothing wrong with this but they go over board with this). darkstalkers and megaman are clear good examples. (at Evo, put 10 or 20 bucks in the air if you want a darkstalkers game) are you feakin seruous.
Crossovers that I would like to see are:
Shonen Jump Vs Capcom ( licensing issues are way through the roof with this one)
Capcom vs SNK 3
Namco Vs Capcom ( I don't know why they just didn't go ahead and make this instead of SFxT because it's essentially the same except Capcom gets to use more franchises from both the Capcom and Namco universe.
Anyone one of these would be pretty cool.
Hint to SNK? lol Im still rooting for another Capcom vs SNK
I never played them because i wasnt familiar but ive seen CvS2EO and it looks like a good game. Im a big fan of KOF dont worry guys things will happen on its time.
I believe that these fighting game makers will come together to keep this alive. - maybe a Capcom vs Snk in the style of KoF XIII (HD)or maybe done by the Blaz Blue team lol that mad random but just a thought
Well then, by that logic of the crossover games criteria, a game like Nintendo vs. Capcom could happen in a snap, or be feasible at the very least.
1. How cool are the characters/universes of Nintendo?
-A grand majority of Nintendo characters are just plain boss. Smash Bros has proven that any character can bring something cool to the table.
2. How popular are the characters/universes of Nintendo?
-Capcom themselves already knows this! The most well known series have an incredibly massive following of fans, and even the lesser known titles (Earthbound/Mother series, Fire Emblem, etc.) have a size-able cult following. The Nintendo characters are just as well known as the Capcom characters.
3. How could the gameplay of Nintendo characters mesh with our own and what interesting outcomes could come from them?
-Fighting game elitists can deny this all they want, but Nintendo characters do indeed have a good number of moves that can be applied to the Vs. Series engine. As for the interesting outcomes? Personally, I would love to see Capcom's rendition of a Falcon Punch Hyper Combo.
4. Would such a match up and resulting gameplay excite fans?
-Damn right it would! Supporters would be pretty damn thrilled to see Link going up against Dante or Meta Knight battling Zero. The match up possibilities are just as boss as that of the best Vs. Series game!
@9 and 11 MKvDC proves that blood and gore did not matter. It sold great. Over 1 million in sales. Most casuals at that game up it was the competitive side that did not like a few things about it. Which was that it was 3D, free fall, infinites (the bad kind) and that online and offline were different.
Now that NRS are with WB who allows them time to make a quality product like MK9 I would love to see both SFvMK and MKvSF by Dimps and NRS
On another note I want to see a MKvDC2. Since WB owns both MK and DC comics now I hoping that a sequel will come.
Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat
X-Men vs Street Fighter 2
Namco vs Capcom
DC vs Capcom (This is probably the least likely to happen, since WB has their own fighting game company in the form of Netherealm Studios, so if we ever get more DC fighters it'd just be MK vs DC 2)
i'm still waiting for my Capcom vs. Konami, Simon Belmont would be awesome in the fighting style of the vs. games as proven by Ghost Rider and Arthur
ASW Vs Capcom is the crossover I want more than any other possible crossover titles. I don't think it will ever happen though... So sad...
Marvel vs DC would be the best game in history.
@12
Sega vs Capcom:
Streets of Rage vs Final Fight
Bayonetta vs Devil May Cry
Shinobi vs Strider
Sonic vs Megaman
Virtua Fighter vs Street Fighter
House of the Dead vs Resident Evil
Phantasy Star vs Darkstalkers
I can see Sega being a good cross over. Hope it happens since I'm a Sega fan.
i want arc system works and snk-playmore. They do 2D fighters the best and i think it would be the great because they know what their doing with classic feeling fighters and ading some distinct modern feel. yeah i think thats the way to explain it. (this is only cmoing from KoF 13 and 2002 and BlazBlue)
@31 I agree with capcom vs Sega, I even wrote a character roster list in one of my notebooks last year and even figured out about half of the rosters moves and most of the gameplay mechanics.
PLEASE guys lets start a petition list with signatures for CAPCOM VS DC. Or MARVEL VS DC. This game if made would be EPIC to say the least. Let's get this discussion started with the Higher up's and MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Capcom vs SNK 3
Marvel vs DC
Nintendo vs Capcom
Bloody Roar vs Darkstalkers
Shonen Jump vs Capcom
Capcom Fighting Evolution 2
Darkstalkers vs Blazblue
Sega vs Capcom
A guy can dream right?
@38 where would I post it, in the comments below or would I have to create a forum for it or what. I only ask because I don't know the word limit for the comments section.
@41 first you have to go to this page http://www.capcom-unity.com/go/networ... then register,
then you go to the street fighter section and post your idea.
@32
Yes I remember Eternal Champions because I played that a lot back when I was young lol. There are many more games I could add to the list like Golden Axe, Vanquish etc... old and new. Too many to list :)
@43 got it, thank you very much for telling me aridarron
Let the SFxT whining......BEGIN!
