Kazunoko returns with more online Seth Super Street Fighter 4 AE v2012 play

Posted by Catalyst

Several weeks ago we linked to some match footage of eLive|Kazunoko playing his Seth online. GodsGarden recently put up more video of Kazunoko's Seth as he destroys the online community in Japan.

After checking out this footage, who do you think has a better Seth, TH|Poongko or Kazunoko? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.

Also, after the jump, you'll find another set between Kazunoko's Ryu against Naruo's Yun.

Poongko, easy. Anyone picking Seth post-Poongko looks like a poor imitation of him in my opinion. It's not really like that for any other character - see Daigo and Valle's Ryu, for example.

Due to the sheer amount of Poongkos I expect in the comment section, Kazunoko.

I'd say Kazunoko will win more often that Poongko. Poongko style is more risky and will win big sometimes but Kazunoko style is the typical traditional Japanese min/max. That is the style that beat Poongko and won Evo.

@#11 It doesn't matter what side they're sitting on. Watch Kazunoko's reactions during the match, it's pretty obvious he's the Ryu.

They say that immediately when the match begins. The roles are reveresed(Gyaku). and they also say that Kazu is Ryu and Naruo is Yun.

poongko is basically manny pacquiao; very aggressive and somewhat careless. both are very good, but definitely not the best, and somewhat overrated.

Poongko. Why? because poongko plays seth way better because he uses him in the gamble seth way which means he goes all out and doesnt let up. Someone can comeup with anti seth stuff but at the same time that doesnt equal an easy win against seth of course. I am not dismissing Kazunoko but his seth just isnt exciting at all ( even though your question was who's seth is better?). I personally think kazunoko himself just isnt exciting. Usually every pro player has a trait or something about them that gets you hyped up but idk Kazunoko is just boring. Daigo has a super strong ryu and pretty much has ryu stamped to his entire self while tokido has the nastiest gouki skills i've ever seen. Uryo with such a great sakura that destroyed poongko in such a clutch moment of Godsgarden of 2011 and Poongko who is just a pure machine who plays for 18 hours a day and just murders people online "most" of the time with such a scary seth that even perfected the beast at EVO 2011 !!!

Wolfkrone whos viper is so strong he came so close to winning canada cup in 5 vs 5 against team japan who had SEVERAL very powerful players but lost in a mirror match to kindevu sadly ( great match).

Overall Kaz is good but hes just bland nothing to get excited about when something about him is posted.

Poongko, but Kaz def no slouch.

Kaz has better spacing, and a better defensive game (by a small margin).

Poongko has better reactions, better adaption, and better pressure and mixups. His offensive game is miles ahead of Kaz while his defensive game is only slightly behind.

But Poongko also has probably around a thousand more hours put into Seth than Kaz.

Both Poongko and Kazunoko are great Seth players with their own style. Poongko is super aggressive and flashy which might entertain people who hate turtle player but sometimes he can be reckless. Kazunoko is more calculated and more defensive, dealing damage whenever he saw an opening.

What #22 said.
Kazu is probably better against higher caliber players, but Poongko is more dominating against the overall player base- and very exciting to watch. But there's NO WAY Poongko can win as consistently as Kazu if he played against the same players (Gatchi).

That being said, would be nice to see a match up for 5 or 10 games.

Too early to tell. As far as these comments go, they're plain silly. Doesn't matter who's Seth came first it's about now. I understand the "exciting" Poongko factor, but find it just as exciting when someone plays a cold and calculated style too.

Also the title of the video has Kaz as Ryu hence the initial confusion of his reactions to the match believing he was Yun. Doesn't help that Naruo is using Kaz's tm red Yun too. ;)

When Poongko played on PSN everyone said he was nothing special, the real competition was on XBL. When he moved to XBL, he destroyed the whole Japanese online community including overhyped tier whore Mago. After that everyone sait that online means nothing and that he must show it in tournament. He raped everyone at Shadowloo Showdown and even raped The Beast with a perfect at EVO.

I'm not saying he's the best or anything, but still. PSN, XBL, tournaments, Poongko is a beast, he murders the competition.

@ #30 there are many replays of poongko getting raped on xbox..even perfects. no one is doubting him but he also took part in the gachi matches while in japan, and he's matches were 50/50. he lost to fuudo, drew with nekojita, lost badly to daigo and kazunoko etc.. he didnt destroy or dominate, things were pretty even. with that said id take his seth over kazun

Poongko is too random and makes off the wall decisions. It worked for him in EVO because I think it was unexpected, but I think down the road, Kaz will do better with the character.

What #31 said. Kazu is repeatedly playing these guys and repeatedly winning. Poongko was downloaded after a short while. I'm not saying who is better- but his style is a do-or-die when fighting against top notch opponents.

That said, i think a great offense will dominate in this matchup. So, head-to-head, i may choose Poongko. Just talking though.

Poongko is the best Seth. He made the character what he is today. Kaz has a long way to go before he'll be considered in Poongko's level.

As for Poongko being too random. I disagree. He's just the right amount. For instance against Fuudo, if he hadn't ex srked or backdashed and Fuudo would of ex command grabbed, that would of been it anyway. The matchup is that horrible.

Kazu seth equals boredom. No fun in playing a beastly character like ur playing ryu. Might as well give him J.HP to zone out some more.

and LOL and people expecting the best seth or anyone Pro to NOT lose at all.... its a game, you cant always win. Its like when a top BP player loses online and the winner wont rematch, but rest assured he'll send all sorts of hate mail talking smack about beating your high BP. LMAO!

#37 no one is expecting him not to lose, but some fanboys were making it out like hes destroying any and everything when thats not the case. he has been dealt losses too, and not just the odd game. his fanboys just need to acknowledge that he didnt have it all his way in japan like someone made it out to be in an earlier post

#37 Boredom doesn't matter as long as he get that consistency of winning. Having fun with a character but losing all the time doesn't help in tournament.

Captainbuttocks said on January 7, 2012 at 12:42 p.m.

I didnt see anyone put him as Godly, the question was whos a better Seth. My point was to #37 that if you have a crazy char that has little limits compared to the rest of the cast, why play him like ryu?? In the end this is a game. People seem to forget what games are for, but thats another topic. I think a mixture of both players would be perfect with the char... Poongko has to learn when to back off and Kazunoko has to be alil more ballzy.

On another note. Not all us seth players are Poognko wannabees. I have been maining seth since I unlocked him in vanilla and I bet others like me dont want to be seen as Poognko CopyCats... Alas the recent flood of seths makes this hard to get out of. So now im seconding Oni lol... and Hakan. :D

Poongko has the better Seth imo!

i have been maining Seth since vanilla, back then when Poongko switch his main from Ryu to Seth and saw his matches, i totally base all my Seth knowledge from him (combo, setups, etc), and since ever my Seth has been dominant and would haven't reached Rank A with him back in super!

im not on the same level of Poongko's execution skill, u can call my Seth a 2nd or 3rd rate copy of his, but my knowledge and skills with Seth would be broaden bcuz of Poongko!

So who is the best Seth?

I would have to say that RIGHT NOW Poongko is better than Kazunoko, but I have a feeling that Kazunoko will soon be able to surpass Poongko and take the place of World's #1 Seth.

@30

When Poongko played on PSN everyone said he was nothing special, the real competition was on XBL. When he moved to XBL, he destroyed the whole Japanese online community including overhyped tier whore Mago. After that everyone sait that online means nothing and that he must show it in tournament. Your knowledge is a bit off. Poongko did play a long set against Mago's Fei when AE just came out but Mago soon adapted to Poongko's playstyle and started doing better towards the end of the set.

IMO the results of that long set between Poongko and Mago during the early days of AE gave Poongko an advantage because practically all of Fei Long's frame-data remained the same going from Super --> AE while Seth's frame-data recieved numerous buffs that threw Mago off. I think that Mago would have done much better against Poongko had he learned about Seth's AE buffs.

Back onto the subject, Poongko has dominated his competitors during the initial bouts but he almost always ended up getting downloaded. Ex: Mago handled him pretty well at Shadowloo Showdown, Daigo beat him in the FT-10 set, and Uryo raped him at SBV.
