even though the matches werent impressive, at least we know when it comes to marvel stuff nobody here in america who actually wants to levelup should have almost any excuse of why they didnt improve. These few clips show that players in japan either dont get enough exposure to the game which results in matches like this or they just arent very good at this kind of game.
thanks for the vids though as its always nice to see something else from a different perspective.
This is very awesome. And my favorite thing about it is seeing Tron in again. I'm maining her because she needs some appreciation from all the overrated characters.
Idc that these guys aren't as good as the top players in the States, the teams their picking are so awesome. Thor, Tron and She-Hulk? The guy might not be the best I've seen with those characters, but at least I don't see a trench coat..
Good to see some Japanese Umvc3. Obviously this tournament aint at the same level as some American tournies. Also I wouldn't write off Japan after watching a random online tournament.
I'd pretty much judge Japan with the online tournament. There's no arcade version of UMVC3 and Japan isn't really big on offline UMVC3 play since their internet infrastructure very very good.
Maybe there'll be an offline UMVC3 tournament there in the future, let's hope so.
ARE YOU TROLLS SERIOUS!
These were EASILY the best matches ever seen AND without using the usual American staples.
DID YOU NOT SEE How Frank Leveled up using Rocket Raccoon's traps?
Or The Tron Player FORCING them to eat She-Hulk's air super?
you're not gonna see that from America
@14 Aemrican have MORE diversity than japan does believe it or not. You be supsrised at some of the players that don't go to tourneys(like bum163) using teams and tech nobody has ever seen before but that not to say that japanese arent good because they are, they're still not on par with the americans. 1 of their best player frieda didnt even crack top 32 at evo.
Some of those matches were good (liking the players that used Tron/Thor/She-Hulk and Joe/Raccoon/Frank)
@ 14 I'm not going to see these were the best matches ever but I will agree the tech they showed was pretty impressive. I dont understand how # 4 didnt think it was impressive. The Tron/ Thor/ She hulk team impressed the hell out of me. Stop hating ppl. I'd much rather watch this tourney than another big two snooze fest with a wesker in every goddamn minus Diemenion and )Chris G sometimes). No disrespect towards spooky though, his production quality is excellent.
Lol, guys, do you really think Americans are going to use tech? You do realize that most of the known MvC3 players are just MvC2 wash-ups right?
All Americans are going to do when they play this game is air dash/teleport forward and hit buttons. Why bother learning tech when characters like Wesker, Wolverine, and Doom can kill you in 2 generic BnBs that are easy to set up?
Japan may not be as good at this game, but if there's one thing Japanese do better than us, it's understand HOW to play a game. Americans just go all in, which is why we suck at Street Fighter but are awesome at Marvel, a game that rewards you for just blindly going in.
@ 20
If America is better at the game, and they know how to win (i.e. use Wesker), I think America understands just fine HOW to play a game.
Also, Japan uses top tiers a lot in Street Fighter, that's why there were so many Sagats in Vanilla and Yuns in AE.
@ 20
Also, UMvC does not reward you for blindly going in. That only works for bad players. If you watch the pros, they are so damn good at blocking it's ridiculous.
This game is all about offense. But if you want to be an elite player, you will have to learn to block and tech throws. Something a majority of the people don't know how to do.
@ 26
REALLY?
Ur so "Wise" Y dont u show us ONE video of Nerdjosh using Tron and Thor with She-Hulk?
Or one of them using the she-hulk blocking trap?
@28
The guy specificly said Tron, Thor and She Hulk, not just Tron and She Hulk, maybe you need to read better and be less aggressive, you sounds eaxctly like a rider yourself.
Nice and interesting matches. Liked the character variety. It may not be at very high level but feels very fresh. These are what I would show people to get them into playing UMVC3.
And I am sure if Japan takes MVC as serious as we do, we would see a lot more Weskers, Dooms etc and "high level plays" in these videos.
This just goes to show that casual players aren't as interested in smart play and winning and get really excited about seeing something new.
Neat tricks won't win you a tournament, solid play will. None of these "exciting and unique little snowflakes" will ever beat Justin Wong, Chris G, Viscant or Combo Fiend.
I wonder if the Japanese know that Wesker is the best character in the game. Also, do they not know about the streams from US tourneys?
I'm just asking cause they don't play Wolvy, Sent, Morrigan, or any other character the way that Americans do. Most of them don't even wave dash...
there are some jp umvc3 players that can make top 8 in US majors.
Video 1: Funny intro music. I love OGTynet gameplay. Very very nice
Video 2: Funny intro music. Boring until OGTynet comes back at 9:59 to play the tricky & small team of Kusolman
Video 3: Kusolman team shows off on Tshimizu09's huge team of monsters. OGTynet weird teams lost badly at 7' vs another weird combination of Indotg. 13'22 Kusolman trashes Indotg.
Video 4: OGTynet comes back with his real team to do 4 combo video at 10'15.
Favorite players:
OGTynet Thor, and Kusolman Frank West

Come on, it's not that bad. These people look like they're only intermediate players so their execution isn't quite as tight yet and it's quite unfair to compare them to pro players already. What's interesting to me though is that they developed their own culture where creativity is encouraged even at the expense of tons of meter. It's similar to Combofiend's playstyle actually. It may not be very effective but I got a feeling that this is how UMvC3 was meant to be played.
Actually NerdJosh used the She-Hulk/Tron tech in vanilla. Except he used the M command grab for the stun and tagged Tron back in, setting up an infinite. Not sure if he invented the tech, but he definitely used it.
Anyone arguing that Combofiend isn't one of the most inventive players around is just wrong. He invented Spencer in vanilla and his She-Hulk resets were ridiculous. He also kept improving his team making adjustments until it was near perfect.
All that said, I still think these matches are insanely entertaining. But claiming Japan has way more innovate tech than America does is just wrong.
Japan probably does have more tech because they actually use the whole cast. While I won't argue that America is better at the game, that's only represented by the very best. I think Japan probably has many more solid players overall just because they're not lazy and go straight to top tiers because they think hopping the bandwagon makes them awesome.
I'm not even d*ck riding look at American tournaments and all you see are pros using a form of top tier team or teams with great synergy, and a bunch of scrubs copying them but getting nowhere.
Players used She-Hulk because of her massive damage and ability to relaunch. This made her able to do over 1.5 million damage on basic combos with dual supers. Combined with the DHC trick made her a perfect choice if you were looking for a character to pull it off.
Tron? Ha! She was used because her Gustaf flame was invincible. And her massive Lunchtime combo damage... and huge H hitbox. One of the only two invincible supers in the game. It set up into easy as hell combos when you have an assist that literally can't be hit.
Honestly, did none of you see the THOR in that team? He's not just an assist and he's not a side line character. The guy can definitely play as Thor and the setups between all three of the characters make this guy exciting as hell to watch. Nearly got a perfect on someone who didn't know what the hell to do.
And I don't remember seeing NerdJosh do any of these Tron combos with Servbot catch loops... since you know.. the rock infinite was what he liked and it worked. The entire match was him fishing for j.H and looking for the infinite. Better get used to Tron yelling Whoa and She Hulk yelling Strike.
But this? You can compare what this guy is doing to what they did because the characters were strong as hell? It's easy to use a character when they're the top feared character on the list. Much harder to take those same characters and do this.
Always nice to see players not use the trench-coat-brigade all the time.
