EVO 2012 games lineup announced, Super Street Fighter 4 AE v2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, others Mr. Wizard was a guest on WakeUP SRK this evening to announce the EVO 2012 lineup of games.

The official tournament games announced were:
  • Super Street Fighter Fighter 4 Arcade Edition v2012
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  • Soul Calibur 5
  • Mortal Kombat 9
  • King of Fighters 13
  • Street Fighter X Tekken
Wizard said it's still up in the air how they're going to run the SFxT tournament, it could be a team thing or something else, but it's undecided since the title hasn't been released.

EVO 2012 will take place on July 6-8, 2012 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This is the biggest fighting game tournament every year and 2012 should be one hell of an event. This trailer was released last year.

@3 it says more to come...

SFxT isn't out. For that matter, TTT2 isn't out either. I'm almost certain the 2 will have some sort of presence.

But seriously, SKULLGIRLS4EVO!

Trolling aside, great line-up. SF2012 and UMvC3 were a given. Excited to see KOF13 in.

Time for me to start making plans to Vegas.

I knew MK9 was a given since it attracted so many players last year. I'm sure the new BlazBlue and Skullgirls will be good games, but the player-base is too small for it to make EVO.

I actually like Tekken 6, but I think last year's top 8 killed any chances of it making it back to EVO (Bob, Bob, Bob, Law, Bob, barf). It truly was a snooze-fest.

All in all, the list was what I expected.

@Deadpoolbub

lol if you really think that you are a moron.
If EVO didn't have SFxT no one would play it competitively.
Its not even in arcades so Japan won't play it either.

Why isn't Melee in? It's much better than MK9, hell, it's better than SCV too!
Half-trolling aside, I'd love to see TTT2 in there, SFxTK is in but Tekken has no representative game? Weird.

Skullgirls is cool (yeah, I did that), but without a turbo mode... Air dashes doesn't seem that threatening.

Tear shed for BlazBlue, hope BB3 makes it to EVO2k13.

I'm excited to see what new tech the Japanese will bring for SSF4, who's going to the new king of UMvC3 and the best KoF and SC player from all over the world competing in one tournament

Not really into MK but would be interested to see if the community has grown or shrunk.

The hype for SFxT isn't what it used to be but that might changed once the game is out.

Strange that there won't be a Tekken game in there.

I love Tekken and all, but 6... just can't get into it like I did past games, even Tekken 4 (which I also didn't care for). And the Tekken finals last year at EVO were PAINFUL to watch.

That said, the BB finals surprised me and I'm surprised it's not back this year.

In any case, KOFXIII is in this year, so I'm satisfied with that! <3

UMvC3 is going to be sick this year. The new characters and adjustments have really balanced things out and the competition is just insane now.

People can complain their favorite games didn't get in, but let's face it, if they were going to pick 6 games, they picked the exactly correct 6 games to include. I was really happy to see KOF in there and I hope there's some solid hype for it.

Bit peeved that the broken glitchy piece of crap MK9 (seriously, HOW MANY DAMN BALANCE PATCHES HAS IT HAD) was chosen again over Skullgirls, AH3 and others (BB gets a pass since BBCSEX hasn't had a console release yet), but oh well, definately looking forward to EVO this year, hoping it'll be just as good as 2011 was!

#56
Default avatar
MysticBoudha said on January 4, 2012 at 9:21 a.m.

LOL @ 56. You serious son? Mk9 has a huge scene compared to AH3 which has a very small virgin weeb scene and Skullgirls isn't out yet and isn't that hyped. Evo has 2 big sponsors being Capcom and Namco so UMVC3, SSF IV, SC V and SF x Tekken where a sure bet. Now Mk which is the most sold fighter of 2011 and KOF XIII which is a pretty good game and really popular with tourney players not just the i sit in front of my computer watching streamed events kind of players.

This line up is perfect really. People complaining about 3 rd strike LOL get it over with 3rd strike is dead. Its a niche game for a really small number of players. Skullgirls isn't that hype and BB well too bad i have nothing to say against it.

I can't wait for Soul Calibur V now. This game is gonna be awesome and will change 3D fighters. I'm really looking foward to that game!!!!!
