Updated: SuperYan forfeits spot on Cross Assault - Explains decision, feels Capcom handled things well - Aris comments Updated: Aris was on L.I. Joe's Twitch.tv channel tonight to talk about what went down on Cross Assault. An embed of the archive has been added into this story.

As you've probably heard by now, SuperYan forfeited her spot on Cross Assault, avoiding the elimination game against Dr SubZero.

An interview took place with Matt Dahlgren, the producer of the show, where she explained a bit of why she made the decision to leave Cross Assault, and not attend the grand finals taking place at Final Round in early March.

The interview starts around the 9 hour 10 minute mark in the embed below. She also made some remarks on Twitter about what transpired. Hit the jump to check everything out.

Following this up further, SuperYan left some remarks on her Twitter account.

I'm sorry you are going through this Miranda. =( Its horrible the direction things have gone with this show. — AfroCole

SuperYan: The show has been fun, honestly. Everyone here has been nice, just some issues with the coach.

It's really not okay to be that accepting though, it's the responsibility of someone there and no one's taking responsibility. — RobinMGC

SuperYan: Well I brought it up and something was done about it. Gonna squash it and move on now. :)

The entire time you were giggling and enjoying the attention. Someone mentions harassment and not until then do you complain? — SuperDojo

SuperYan: Sounds like you missed a great deal of the stream. Also a lot happens off the stream too you know. -__-

Also the stream is funny cause it's full of idiots, I can laugh about that all day. The things Aris said/did were not funny at all.

I may have come off as a huge douche bag but I don't regret my decision one bit. I also think Capcom handled it well.

L.I. Joe's conversation with Aris takes place at the 29 minute mark in the video below.

First video from Capcom-Unity's Twitch.tv page.

I don't like everyone suddenly attacking Aris, there's two sides to every story and Aris seems like a nice guy. She was willing to put up with the "harassment" when she had a shot at still winning the 25k.

I didn't see much of the blatant creepiness/sexual harassment on stream, but I did see Aris (in the midst of all this) arguing that sexual harassment is a vital part of what makes the FGC the FGC and if we cut back on the sexual harassment, we would no longer be the FGC.

I've liked him for a good while, but the guy just seems to be off his rocker on this show.

It's archived, it's happened when Haunts and Aris are talking to Jared about esports and why Jared left to go to twitch. (Jared left basically because of the same reasons Miranda left the show)

You know, things like this wouldn't happen if people just followed the all-important rule: treat people the way you want to be treated. For goodness sake, they teach you this in grade school, but everyone forgets. Instead, mankind is easily seduced by the beauty of conflict. The fact that at least there are some people that live by that rule provides a glimmer a hope for an otherwise desolate world.

Blaming the victim? Not a good look. I can understand the mindset she was probably in. She's on a show for $25,000 with a bunch of people, almost all of which know and are friends with Aris, and he starts up with that sexist stuff. In that instance what's she going to do? Blow up Aris and run the risk of a lot of the other contestants ripping her?

Sherry proved that tonight when she tried to defend Aris and when it wasn't really working out she made up stuff about Aris apologizing. She couldn't even get her story straight. First it was Miranda talked to him and he apologized, then it was Team TK talked to him and he apologized. And in both instances Miranda gets painted as the guilty person for not letting it go.

According to Miranda the truth is she did talk to Aris and he didn't seem to really care about what she had to say.

deltawhite said on February 27, 2012 at 9:29 p.m.

@Versa SHE should have spoken up? I'm sure that most of the people running the show were fully aware of what was going on and let it slide. They shouldn't wait for her to complain. They should've stepped in from the start and done something about it.

Women get treated like sh*t as it is, just by being on the show. Imagine how much harder it would be for her if she went against a well-respected member of the FGC. And with the people at Cross Assault just letting it happen, do you think she could trust them to do something about it? Just look at what happened. After she finally complained for being sexually harassed, what does Matt do? He sure doesn't get Aris removed from the competition. Instead, he just gives the weakest and most pitiful apology I've ever heard.

Look, at the end of the day Aris is who he is; brash, scathing, trollish, and he has an adolscent sense of humour and knows little restraint... meanwhile Miranda seems like the kind of person who will try to avoid confrontation and laugh off things that are bothering her before she does anything much about them, and seemingly that's what happened here and it reached a point where she felt too uncomfortable to continue.

I don't think think Aris ever had any malicious intent and I'm sure he didn't want to upset her, but when she was laughing off his teasing he probably took that as her taking it for the joke it was intended to be... I'm not trying to say either of them is right or wrong here; they're just mismatched personalities and this drama was bound to happen when you stuck them together for a prolonged period.

Here is my 2 cents, everyone needs to calm down. I was listening to Aris Talk to Jared on Skype the other day on the show, and a few things went through my mind about the situation. Its very sad to see someone who has done so much for the community and possible new star in the FGC scene at each others throats. The talk with Jared concerning eSports had nothing to do with Sexual Harassment, Jared took it there because him and Haunts didnt see eye to eye and he was trying to find ways to prove his point. Jared complained about Phoenix in Marvel getting heckled... Poor Jean I'm sure she got her feelings hurt. You guys ever got to a football game? Its the culture within the culture. Next time I boot Marvel 3 up again (never) ill ask her (Pheonix) if she cares.
I also like how Capcom waited for this to blow up like it did. Im sure they were watching everything watching the viewer count rise. The way he treated Yan was unprofessional yes, but she and Capcom let it escalate. This type of exposure is viral marketing at its finest folks. Ive taken more than a few courses on hows exposure both good and bad (see Kardashians) prints money. Aris is a good guy he does a lot for this community behind the curtain, I think because he genuinely cares for it. Sure he is vulgur. Unfortunately, American is a very sensitive society about anything sexual and people will take anything to offense for the publicity and money.

If it were my Wife, or one of my Daughters this punk would be crapping out his teeth!

The FGC had better make up it mind! If you want to enter the "Main Stream" the "Big Leagues" with all the "Big Money", these effing clowns need to GROW UP!

Keep your PERSONAL VIEWS at home! Treat people (especially women) with class and dignity! You wouldn't want the camera aimed at your Mom's chest! Or your sisters lap!

So many pathetic comments on here. A bunch of you are trying to blame her for making a scene, but then you turn around and blame her for not blowing it up on the stream days ago. You're not making a point you're trying to make her the guilty person in all of this.

There are so many possibilities for why she didn't say something on the first day. Factor in the pressure of earning $25,000. Factor in the pressure of most of the cast being friends w/ Aris. Factor in the contract that doesn't allow her to talk directly about the show. Factor in that not everyone in that situation would speak up.

Blaming someone for not speaking out against sexual harassment is like blaming a LGBT person for not speaking out against gay bashing. When you're on the receiving end and you know there's a good chance that you're surrounded by people on the other end you're not always going to be so quick to speak up. And it's obvious that there are tons of people on the opposite end just judging by the comments on this post.

I'm starting to wonder if this is why many people in the FGC are afraid of eSports. Once eSports hits they're going to have people calling them out on their bigoted BS.

I'd also like to point out that when an interviewer asks you questions and you answer them, that's not "making a scene". She didn't go in there with the intent of blowing up anyone or anything. In fact if you noticed Matt asked her if she wanted to do the interview and at first she said no. I get the feeling he talked her into it so he could get his apology on stream so people knew this wouldn't be tolerated. And at the end of the day Matt's going to get that interview regardless because its in the contract.

I don't understand the mentality people have where they say stuff like "this is who Aris is". I mean, so what? How is that a justification for sexual harassment? Should murderers be allowed to murder because "that's how they are"? Yeah, the example is a bit extreme but you should get the point. Obviously Miranda is no angel either and have both lied and schemed on this show herself, but saying this is her fault and not Aris' because she didn't stand up for herself is just plain wrong. The bullying/sexual harassment/whatever you wanna call it should never occur in the first place.

People need to stop putting woman in a pedestal. they are what they are. Clue: Not children. Man or woman they both should be treated equaly.

Men and women should be treated equally. But at this moment the issue is with someone who is a woman being treated by a man how that man would not treat men. And even if he did, being equally bigoted towards men and women is still bigotry.

Aris does seem like a nice guy, however if you watch streams with him in them he does happen to harass females quite often.

Yan made a very smart decision, and #67 and #69 hit the nail on the head. Regardless of whether Aris has done ANYTHING for the community, he has not shown that is mature. That's the thing about sexual harassment; the victims can't do anything buy try to shake it off and bear a grin to last through it but when you're stressing over $25,000 constantly, trying to grind out a game, and you constantly feel belittled in front of 10,000 people as a joke to a guy who SHOULD be able to act like a Papa Valle and actually coach his team like a mature adult who respects women and respects members of the FGC like Yan - and yet chooses to feed the stream monsters and remain ignorant - that's bullsh!t and should not be allowed.
When Aris signed up for the coaching job he should have known there was a little more to being a coach than keeping his potty mouth off the stream.
And now we see every punk a$$ male gamer thinking their some kind of tough guy by calling out the *victim* and blaming the *victim*? Yeah, that makes sense...some gamers just can't handle real life problems I guess.

lol whatever happens in the FGC happens, my only concern is about the games being put out. So long as Capcom, Namco, Arksystem, or whomever puts out good fighting games i'm still in.

Every White Knight here should also know that in this reality show/competition woman are allowed to compete against men for a reason, now think about that for a second.

I was tolerating this show up until this point. There were a few issues, but it was entertaining. But I don't think I can watch anymore after this.
Whatever though. I give them props for an innovative promotional event.

If superyan was hitting on Aris and stating sexual comments, mentally, most of us would just not care. Honestly, we judge sexual harassment, rape, physical abuse, and even mental abuse much more differently if the victim was either a guy or girl. I think Aris was just trying to put on a good show. I think he was kind of bored throughout the whole production and was trying to entertain himself and the stream by focusing on the things he found interesting; which is a single woman in a sausage fest. Superyan may not have liked how Aris treated her but their were numerous times when she could of spoken out about it. Let's not forget, this is not her first time on shows so she's not a shy and timid person. Maybe at first she ignored it but ultimately got annoyed and used it as an excuse so she could bail; she knows that she can't win. I think that Aris should be much more careful from now on just to prevent himself from getting wrongly accused. I say that because Aris' appearance and personality can cause him to be accused of being guilty when he's actually innocent. Again, I don't know any of them but I think this whole thing is blown out of proportion.

I wonder how many people actually watched Li Joe's stream and even Marn's stream today. Check out the archives for some interesting points from the top players and people who were actually there.

Like Sherry said, Aris would have stopped if you would be "raw" with him and tell him to f*** off. Even Starslay3r says she was offended by Aris when she first met him, but after getting to know him she said, "He's actually a really nice guy."

Maybe SuperYan did ask him to stop off stream, maybe she wasn't clear in what she meant. But Aris never had any malicious intent. His goal wasn't to drive SuperYan into a corner. It's sad that it went down this way but it seems like she let it get this far.

On a less serious note, does anyone else think she would have been less offended if Aris was good looking?

Yeah Brah, I'm typing from HOME! Not running a effing reality show!

Had Capcom invited me in I'd have kept that PIG Aris under control. Believe that.

And yes, I'm a reeeal tough guy.

Aris come off as a total douchebag. What is he talking about ''I try to bend the rules''? He kept zooming in on her ass when she told him to stop.

This is so embarrasing. I guessed something like this would happen when they announced CrossAssault. At least 12 year old stream monsters are happy about all of this. *sigh*
