YESSS i hope the top 3 stays as is, except maybe sakos ibuki taking number 1.. amazing
I'm confused as to why they're playing another set. I read the rules. Somehow i'm not understanding them correctly. I thought Tokido already won 6-3, also fulfilling the must win by 2 games stipulation.
Match report here:
http://tokido77.blogspot.com/2012/02/...
@Donchilio thanks for clearing that up. think i got it now.
I think they mean that a guy can't win the first to six, 6-5. gotta be 7-5, for example.
Simple words
Win 2 sets of FT6
If the FT score came to 5-5, it has deuce +1 match
Tokido has a strong game against Sagat and Fei long thanks in part to playing Mago a lot. His wins in the previous half of the league were against Kindevu, Bonchan, and Fuudo (Cammy, Sagat, Fei Long respectively.)
I doubt Tokido will win this but I do hope he puts up a stronger performance than he did before leaving for germany, and at germany (where he didn't make top 8)
He'll beat Mago, normally beats him all the time. He'll have problems at the Beast ha
People were saying on other footage that Tokido was in a rough spot in terms of his play but from the looks of the comment section he is bodying Japanese's best, Good stuff from Tokido.
@TheSaltyAustralian
dude, he just beat 2 people. you cant just disregard all his previous losses. the ones that put him in 11th place to begin with.
Not to disregard all the previous matches but those rounds were online. Now that the matches are in person I think some of the results will be different.
If this event came out later on a DVD format, I would definitely buy it, I missed all the actions.
@40
Daigo beat Fuudo? I thought it was the other way around.
see now that they are playing offline the result is much differenet,,, lag was a pain in the a!!
They asked the people attending not to leak results because its being broadcast on the 16th on korean tv. Ill send in the cam i recorded after. I didnt get to film the grand finals because battery ran out. Hint hint its who you expect
Wouldn't it be awesome if Tokido somehow beats all of them and becomes champion after getting last place in the round robin stages??
@ 59 No. They had a film crew on and made it a production. We actually did retakes of each players entrance. Pretty good event. Again, out of courtesy to LG, Laugh on their behalf asked us not to spoil it until the 16th. They are going to televise it here in Korea.
@63: top 8 is justin wong, mike ross, daigo, fuudo, m.lizard, kimlegend, infiltration and poongko.
I made a table of the rounds each character has won against each other from the round robin. It's just data so take it as you will.

Tokido wasn't doing well against Cody, Ryu, Sakura and Seth. At best, he'll be eliminated by Daigo. My guess is that he'll be eliminated a lot sooner.
Kindevu's main problems was Cody, Ibuki and Makoto. If he does exceptionally well against Momochi and good enough against the rest, he might make it to final 3. But with his current performance, Momochi will be his last match.
Momochi only lost badly against the top 2. If he can close the gap against the rest, he'll be top 3 for sure. My guess is around top 5.
Both Fuudo and Mago got beaten by Makoto so top 2 is very possible, especially Fuudo. Mago is unlikely to do better than Fuudo.
Sako's biggest problem is Kazunoko who may not even challenge him (see below). If he can manage to avoid Kazunoko, he just needs to edge out Haitani.
Haitani just barely beat out the three people below him in the rankings and there is also Daigo. He's still the man to beat but if Fuudo or Mago makes it to him, he'll have a lot easier time.
Daigo is going to have a hard time winning it all. Unless he turns on the magic in the elimination round, I don't see him making it past Fuudo.
Both RF and Bon-chan have an uphill battle ahead of them. I see them ending up around 6-8th place at best. Bon-chan will probably end up higher.
Uryo has no significant threat directly below him but faces a tough challenge on top especially from Sako. I predict top 3 and maybe even take it all.
Kazunoko still hasn't figured out how to beat Sakura. What can I say other than a top 4 finish?
In conclusion, Sako will probably beat whoever that challenges him to setup a final against Haitani. My prediction is for Haitani to edge out another victory to win the 555,555 yen.
nice man, tokido is getting beat bad by momochi now on stream....
I was at the event and the GF was between.............
wait for it..........wait for it..........
between Bruce lee and some Karate guy
Momochi The man! Tokido is just not being himself,, and damn the damage on codys Combos are huge!

enjoy.
maybe i missed something somewhere, but how the hell tokido have so many matches in the chart compared to everyone else. Can any shed any light?
@ #87
"The Topanga League will resume on February 10, 2012 with an in person elimination round. This tournament will change into a first to six format, where a player must win by a 2-game margin.
The 12th seed will battle the 11th seed, and the winner of that will move on to face the 10th seed, and so forth and so on. The 1st overall seed only needs to win one set to take home top honors."
Basically, until you're defeated you keep going. Tokido won 3 sets (RF, Kindevu, Bonchan) before losing to Momochi, so he played more matches than the aforementioned players.
lol @ eventhubs posters making sweeping statements as #89 has made. Present us with your data and results as to why that is true, otherwise your opinion holds practically no weight whatsoever. Gotta take the comment section with a pinch of salt but it gets irritating seeing people contribute nothing and yet know something the rest of us don't. Seems like everyone plays at the "top level" these days and that they can decide tiers with educated guesses from xbl/psn. Get Real. Please.
@#88
Guess i was looking at the numbers in the wrong way, makes more sense now counting up the stuff. The numbers add up, just looked real funky glancing over it at first.
@96
I think it's hilarious personally. They knew the prizes when they entered the tournament.
Hmm.Haitani only needs to win one set when he plays against the top two player. Where as the other player needs to win two sets.. And given Haitani's dominating performance in the first round of the tournament, I can see him winning the tournament. However, due to his seeded status.. He might not have that momentum anymore since he'll literally have to wait it out without getting any action to at least warm up before the grand finals. That's the only deterrent to his victory I guess.
