Those hoping for cross platform play between the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Street Fighter X Tekken might be disappointed by a recent statement Capcom's Christian Svensson made. Although he acknowledged he understands the desire for such a feature, he states that adding it in would be too much for them to handle, given the small amount of people who would actually take advantage of it.Is there a CPU vs. CPU mode in Street Fighter X Tekken? — Han
Seth Killian: [...] There is totally CPU vs. CPU mode in SFxT. You can set any or all of the 4 slots to CPU control, as well as making the CPU play any of the modes (standard versus, pair match, or scramble).
Will there only be 4 colors in the color edit mode for SFxT once the game is released, or will there be more? I heard that there will only be 4 colors, but free packs will come later down the line. — Ruhul
Seth Killian: I do think you've answered your own question, but yes, more colors will be released over time. Hopefully just a little way to keep things fresh and interesting over time as we try out this new direction.
Will there be cross platform play between the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Street Fighter X Tekken? — Sehnder
Svensson: I do understand the desire for it, however in our experience, the usage of cross-platform play (as we've seen on Lost Planet Colonies a couple of years ago) is very low, even when in that particular case, the requirement for a Gold account on PC was removed for technical reasons by Microsoft.
For cross platform play to exist between Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live, as it stands today, the PC player must also be a Gold member.
Given the development effort, extra testing and logistical headaches trying to keep three SKUs (Steam PC version, non-Steam PC version and X360 version) all in lockstep for all future updates and not breaking anything along they way, it really isn't worth it for the number of people that would take advantage of it.
Will cross platform play between the Vita and PlayStation 3 happen for UMvC3 and SFxT? — Darked The Unknown
Svensson: For UMvC3 Vita, unfortunately no, crossplay isn't happening.
For SFxT. We'll see.
I can understand Cole, Toro and Kuro being exclusive to the PS3 in SFxT, but Mega Man and Pac-Man? Why do you hate Xbox 360 fans? — Sei
Svensson: Our history and our future clearly shows that we love Xbox owners. That said, not every platform gets every piece of content or every title. The same has been true of PS3, Wii, PC, DS, 3DS, PSP, etc. We do exclusive content in some form for nearly every system.
Will Capcom lose rights to guest characters and more in the distant future? — Metalhart
Svensson: Most contracts tend to not have infinite terms, so yes, at some point in time, the ability to sell games with content we don't wholly own means they will not be able to be distributed at that time (without renewing or recreating an agreement with the IP holders).
Because we really needed people trying to start yet another console war.
Seriously, give it up.
I have both consoles but in my eyes Xbox has the exclusive in SFxT: The Pointless Crap Filter .
"Svensson: Our history and our future clearly shows that we love Xbox owners.
We do exclusive content in some form for nearly every system."
Yeah, but in this case - NOT FOR XBOX. :(
BIG-BELLY-MEGAMAN IS XBOX EXCLUSIVE ? I HAD NO IDEA
I GUESS THIS IS XBOX USERS PUNISHMENT FOR GETTING CALL OF DUTY DLC A MONTH EARLIER THAN PS3 USERS REGARDLESS OF PS3 OWNERS HAVING ELITE ......
BILLYBATS IS ACTING CRAZY AGAIN , WAS HE MALDA IN ANOTHER LIFE ?

NUFF SAID
I seriously don't understand why the community is so butt hurt over these exclusive characters for the PSFree, like megafatman, and Miss Pac man. Most of you noobs that are going to be playing this game are going to using the team of ryu/ken and ken/ryu online anyways so the xbox players aren't going to be missing a damn thing.
Yeah Svensson, a crappy shooter nobody gave a damn (on both platforms, that's how bad the Lost Planet IP is) is now the element of comparison for how good cross platform fares in fighting games? How about you give the genre a try?
Stop making excuses, you just want to cash in, only 4 colours on launch and paid DLC for colours? THAT is supposed to keep the game fresh?
I'm at loss for words.
And Xbox users aren't taking it in their arse btw, they got SFxT: gtfo-those-retarded-characters-and-stupid-cat-clones edition.
@ #18
If you got a 360, you'll just share the gold account between live and gfwl and you're set.
If you only got a PC, all you gotta pay is... $35? It's less than 3 bucks per month to be able to play with more, stronger opponents. And if you don't want to, you don't have to pay for it.
The problem Capcom has with this it's that they'll not get a single dime of those $35, so they'd rather split the community and blame LOST PLANET.
Microsoft gamers are so damn ridiculous
their response to the exclusive fighters:
"This totally isnt fair!"
My response: "Like your COD DLC? yeah its totally different when its the other way"
"Yeah our edition is the best we dont have all the crap on it!"
My response: "Erm no regardless we have more content and we have the same game.... so I can safely say PS3 edition is the better edition"
I know that some of these fools dont speak to alot of you guys who actually are pretty decent gamers and can appreciate when your console gets things and when other consoles get things but damn.... Some people really need to pull their head out their ass
The bring up Lost Planet as an example why crossplatform multiplayer doesn't worth it? That game was a nice big mountain of crap, that' why the crossplatform wasn't really used, because nobody played that crappy multiplayer.
In fighting games.... that's a different story, it's all about multiplayer and people on different platforms have no disadventiges compared to each other (controlling), etc etc... just another lie why CAPCOM hates PC.
Still no SFxT PC relase date? As I know it's coming later, after the console versions.
Right, because Lost Planet Colonies was such a widely popular game that it just makes perfect sense to gauge the interest in cross-platform play on that game alone.
Cross platform should be the last thing on their minds as far as online anyway. At least let them figure out how to properly make netcode between the same console first.
I find it funny that the Xbox owner's coping mechanism for having less content in their game is calling the extra content for the PS3 "stupid."
Yeah, it is a horrible and stupid thing having extra content. As a PS3 owner, I wish I didn't have any extra content in my game.
Anyway, this sounds like a good topic for a psychology paper or thesis.
Note that just because someone says THIS exclusive DLC isn't fair doesn't mean they don't consider it unfair when it's in THEIR favor.
Exclusive DLC to either system that could easily be on both (I.E., content that doesn't face licensing issues involving either system's respective company), isn't fair. However, IMO the best stance one can take on either end of the deal is to shrug it off and move on. I'm only planning on getting the 360 version of SFxT, and I would love to (and should) be able to play as Mega Man or Pac Man, but there's little I could do to help it other than ask for them and hope I get them. If I don't, it isn't the end of the world.
Cole: cool Character
The rest of the exclusive characters = Garbaggio
I have both systems but I'm getting the Xbox version just because of the lolz/hype/salt/ on XBOX live Party chat with my buddies.
...am i the only one from category of people, who preffers geek free DLC free content? damn i feel like dying breed...seriously i'm just GLAD that i won't see these five rediculous characters during my characters selection on character select screen on xbox 360!...i better play game with only Tekken and Street Fighter characters (isn't it why the game called SFxT??) than SFxT: Mugen Edition...sorry...
I'm sorry but I refuse to see the logic in pretending like you're against the idea these bonus characters. A. Both console versions cost the same, one of those versions gives you more for your money. B. Honestly if these were 360 exclusives it'd be status quo (i.e. timed exclusivity of GTA 4 dlc, COD, Fallout, Skyrim,etc...) those games all sold better on 360, in large part to that. So what businessman in their right mind would say no to the chance of the potential to have something sell better on their platform? C. Whether or not you're a tournament player who made top 8's and all that these characters are in a game the MAJORITY of buyers will be playing for FUN. Exclusivity is harsh but it's worked both ways.
@29
Though the game is called SFxT, who knows if they will ever have a Capcom X Namco game? So it is nice to have two of prime mascots from both company in the game, both adapted to the Street Fighter and Tekken universes in humorous ways.
Also, the characters are just "guests" and not pivatol to fully enjoying the game, but I never thought having more characters in a fighting game was bad, even if they are silly. The more characters means that you can "play around" more when bored with other characters.
Wow, that's the first time he's given a legitimate reason for boning PC versions. It's not exactly explained properly, but his point is that Microsoft just won't allow it unless you have a Gold sub on a GFWL account... which nobody does unless they're sharing it with a 360 account, so it's pointless. While they did allow it a couple times in the past (aforementioned LP:C and Shadowrun), it's pretty clear they never will again.
how a people upset some extra characters got put in.
i mean i would understand if someone said oh this plays like a whole another street fighter. but you complain about OPTIONAL characters. So if they were on all versions you wouldnt buy it? GTFO!! The cats i dont understand but megaman and pac-man now thats the ish. OLD-SCHOOL MASCOTS FTW. This is a versus game so already there would probably be some xheap exploit or infinite. Poor netcode. i mean stop tryin to justify more charcters.
Lol he is comparing Lost Planet's, a game that no one played to begin with and is a completely different genre, success to SFxT. There's a reason why everyone knows Capcom doesn't care about it's fans. Sven just needs to stick to releasing crappy RE games.
Yeah Xbox owners are glad thy will not get ridiculous characters. Because characters like Kuma, Rufus, Bob, Poison, Hugo, and Zangief are anything BUT ridiculous
I own all 3 current generation consoles but I play most of my fighting games on 360 and trust me these exclusive characters aren't anything to be upset over. I know for one they are worthless, if you are going to do exclusive characters, place characters in the game that actually make sense. This reminded me of Star Wars exclusives in Soul Calibur 4, it just didn't make sense and now we have Cole in Street Fighter X Tekken, I probably would have let that slide if he was Marvel vs Capcom 3.
The character select screen looks like a mess with all of those exclusives in the game, and if I was to purchase the PS3 version I would only try cole and pac man once and never bother to try the cats or Mega Man, they would be sitting there as unwanted space.
http://www.screwattack.com/news/xbox-...
Whoa 360 was the top selling console in 2011, maybe capcom should reconsider.
@MugenLord,
that was well said. I too own a 360 & I can say that I'm extremely glad that those exclusive characters aren't on the 360 version, if they were, I wouldn't even get the game. It would be a waste of $60.
How about crossplatform play with PC/PS3? Like battlefield3 and other games have started to do?
The reason why xbox doesn't get any of the goodies is simple, they didn't want to spend money on this game like Sony did.
Also if you pay for Xbox live, you're getting cheated :)
I don't know why Xbox fans are asking to be trolled by Capcom. You guys really want such ridiculous characters on your version?
The likely candidate would be that lame space marine who wouldn't fit in with the cast at all, but I suppose that's exactly what they want. These damn characters ruin the integrity of the game. At the very least pick more appropriate exclusive characters. Cole, Fatman, and the 2 rats belong in UMvC3 with those other superheroes, super-deformed beings, etc.
Too bad, still happy it is coming to PC, thats where I will be playing!
PC FTW.
It's easier to just assume that 360 owners bash on the PS3 getting exclusive content to justify their purchase of a 360. Otherwise it would be just silly to think that people are actually complaining about having more characters to a genre which is always criticized about "not having enough characters". Maybe I'm to open minded, but hey that is the "penalty" for not just playing a single genre of games.
C'est la vie.
@47 For once? Kratos in Mortal Kombat. The Joker in Batman Arlham Asylum. An extra case in LA Noire. In Red Dead Redemption PS3 got 2 things. For once? Yep.Not that I'm complaining I have both and I,for one,am getting the PS3 version just for Cole,Toro,Kuro,Megaman, and Pac-man.
"Having more content" is NOT a winning argument to say your console's version of the game is superior when that content freaking SUCKS and is pointless.
It's like two middle aged men fighting over who has the best yard. Both yards have equally green grass and some flowers. Then, a dog walks up and takes a crap on one of the lawns and the owner of that yard starts jumping up and down screaming, "Haha! I have the better yard! Mine has more content than yours!"
PS3 owners are that guy.
LOL DO PEOPLE REALLY THINK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT LIKE A FEW BONUS CHARACTERS ON A PER GAME BASIS DECIDES WHAT MAKES A SYSTEM SUPERIOR?
ON TOPIC: I HIGHLY DOUBT ANY OF THE GUEST CHARACTERS WOULD BE MY MAIN BUT I'D LIKE TO FIGHT AGAINST PEOPLE WHO USE THEM ONLINE. I DON'T RESENT PS3 OWNERS FOR GETTING THEM BECAUSE NOBODY'S GONNA LOSE SLEEP OVER THESE CHARACTERS, INCLUDED OR NOT.
AT THE END OF THE DAY I KNOW MY TEAM WILL SMASH ANY COMPETITOR THAT CHOOSES TO JOIN THE LOBBY...ON EITHER SYSTEM.
*EDIT....I DON'T RESENT PS3 OWNERS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T CREATE THE GAME....PLUS NOBODY'S GONNA LOSE SLEEP OVER THESE CHARACTERS, INCLUDED OR NOT.
@70
Keep telling yourself that.
IF you like Pac-man, a nostalgic take on Mega Man and the inFAMOUS game series (which is awesome by the way), then the extra content is far from crap.
I for one grew up playing Pac-man on the Atari and in the arcade, I fondly remember the crazy American box art for the first Mega Man, and love the inFAMOUS series of games, so the bonus characters aren't junk to me.
As for the Sony cats, I had never heard of them till now and I don't understand how they won the poll for characters to put in the game? That being said, they look like silly fun and a way you can really talk trash to someone when you kick their butts with crazy anime cats.
The point is that these extra characters don't mean much to hardcore guys who only play tourneys because they probably won't be allowed, but for those who like to play casual games once in awhile, or play games with people who are casual, the more characters the better, especially if they are fun and interesting.
There is no way that these extra characters make the game worse, unless you only play games seriously and never for fun and lack a sense of humor. However, I think it is just a psychological coping mechanism in most people's cases, as they don't want to admit their jealousy. That is fine, I have been jealous of some things Xbox has gotten in the past. Hopefully, one day, these console wars will be a thing of the past and everyone will have access to everything equally.
Sure is a ton of butthurt PS 3 and Xbox 360 fanboys in here.
@ 20
It seems that absolutely NO-ONE is taking into consideration the fact that these 'exclusive' characters aren't going to be tournament legal, making them even more worthless. Also, who gives a s**t about CoD? PSFreebies need to stop feigning superiority because you got a second Ryu,a second Kazuya,a homeless guy and Cole; it's all pointless waste of RAM. Anyone who tries to use the "casual crowd" defense is an even bigger waste of space.
@70 if both have the same stuff overall but the other has slightly more, then why isnt the one with the most stuff the better one when it obviously is?
#79 because sometimes less - is better...and this is the perfect case...
...also i'd suggest everyone reading what MALDA in his previous post posted in my opinion this is much more serious and more important to talk about than what you're all now arguing about...because for me if Christie, Leo, Guy and Cody will be DLC will mean NO BUY...if its true...
I know this was a ways back but @17 The colors added to the game later are free dlc after launch. Did you skip over that part and just assume you had to pay for them?
@83
No not at all. I'm not saying that it's good to leave them out but if it will come for free it doesn't really make a difference IMO. I mean when the game comes out most people will resort to wearing all black most of the time any way.
I suppose in the long run it wont matter which console gets the exclusive characters or not. First and foremost buy the game on the console thats more appealing to you. If you are a competitive player the exclusive characters wont mean crap to you (in a competitive view) because they cant be used in a tournament.
Win it comes down to it Microsoft had a chance to have its own exclusives and dropped the ball. I will be buying my copy for XBOX regardless for the solid online play and the competition. Its my experience and knowledge that most top players play on 360 anyway. Ex. Valle, Xsk Samurai, Cynistar, El Cubano Loco, LPN, Latif, Snake eyes etc. I would rather play with them any day.
Point being buy what you want and if it bothers you that no exclusives are on the Box then buy a PS3 and the PS3 version or quit your whining.
A valid reason to be pissed off would be lack of hit box modes on the console vs the PSP Vita. I understand the logistics of the decision but completely disagree with it.
For all the console war chumps. They are all good systems based on the consumer. Xbox has better online, more arcade games, and larger communities for the games that are multi-platform I.E. COD. Ps3 has blueray, durability, a good old school ps1 collection. The wii has zelda, wii ware for all the old school fans (assuming you dont emulate)and some of the best unique titles. Quit making fools of yourselves.
to that someone who said that paying for xbox live is like getting cheated, i don't care if i have to pay for an xbox live, at least i know that what i pay is worth it. it offers better online capability and i even have the chance to play online with the top players.
@Schmidty - you are totally right
Now I bet if this was on 360 you guys would be like hahaha stay free ps3 owners, there is nothing wrong with it being on ps3,last I checked 360 gets alot more things than the ps3 does and you guys get dlc wayy earlier but it seems fighting game companies are taking a liking to ps3 many reasons is because the ps3 got alot of really cool characters who could fit in a fighter while the 360 doesnt I actually like playing my fighters on ps3 just because I am a sony fan and I do have umvc3 and sf4 for both ps3/360 and its pretty much the same only thing is there is less laggy players but not a problem since I just play 4bars only
I've only read like half the comments so far, but oh my damn some of you are just too ridiculous for words. Mental gymnastics at it's finest.
I can guarantee that if both Mega Man and Pac-Man were on 360, along with a 360 exclusive character, 360 fans wouldn't call their extras useless or talk about "pointless crap filters."
They are simply hurting the exclusive characters by making them exclusives, unless they will become DLC later on on X360 (at least PAC' and Mega'.
More people would be enjoying their efforts to make these character awesome, and more people would actually try to learn them because tournament players tend to have a big influence on character popularity due to tiers and strategies. Look at Jil and Shuma in UMvC3... They still ain't popular, a all, althought they actually cost as DLC.
