King of Fighters 13 patch tweaks matching, adds features, fixes bugs Update: The patch has been released for Xbox 360.

Gamershell has received a press release from Atlus Software that details a long-awaited and highly anticipated matchmaking patch for King of Fighters XIII.

You can read the details for this patch below. It has only released for the PlayStation 3 so far and the Xbox 360 version of the patch is coming soon.

Ranked Match Filtering: One of the most requested additions, players may now set conditions for their opponent’s connection. When a player who doesn’t meet the standby conditions tries to enter the Ranked match, a warning message will be displayed and the match cancelled.

Improved Filtering: Filtering functionality in general has seen dramatic improvements. Previously, certain connection data was not filtered sufficiently and the player had a chance of connecting to opponents with poor connection quality. Now, more aggressive filtering should ensure that players are only matched with opponents who meet their filter settings.

Improved Connection Antenna: The computation behind the players’ connection antenna, the meter indicating the quality of a player’s connection, has been improved, resulting in a more accurate and consistent measurement.

Temporarily Saved Custom Match Settings: Players may continue searching for opponents with the same settings as long as the player remains in the PLAYER MATCH/RANKED MATCH menu.

Character-specific Bug Fixes: "NESTS-Style" Kyo and Iori with the Power of Flames no longer become unresponsive under certain circumstances.

Additional refinements included.

It doesnt tweak netcode, just the relaying of a persons connection info to you, so you can see if its rubbish or not.

This game is so legit one of the best purchases I've made in a long time on any video game.

Loved the game when it first came out but my interest didn't stay for long, i jst didnt find it to be that fun online tbh. I also got kind annoyed with them leaving DLC characters, i know all companies do it but KOF XIII doesn't have that big of a character roster and i am left needing more. While as a game it is great, i actually admit to spending a lot more hours playing MK than this. And i still play my SSFIV till today

So the netcode isn't so robust after all?

This game is officially done now that it's clear they aren't going to fix the netcode.

None of you has actually tried the patch, matches are definitely better than before.

@7 agreed, its much better! im playing it right now :) the netcode was never bad, i could play with my friends 3-4 states away with minimal input lag. it's just that it was hard to find a match and put you up against laggy players because the bars were incorrect. haters gonna hate

@7, That's all I needed to hear. My issue with the netcode initially, was not being able to find any matches, like at all. I tried ranked, player, and even creating one and to no avail, nothing. So if this new patch helps with at least that then this is great news.

As much as I like the game and recognize the work that went into it, I didn't think they'd bother updating it at all. Glad to see I was wrong.

@#10

The demo was before the patch, as I've said it is better. Also who cares if Mai wasn't in 11/12. She's in 13, the game people play.

Can't wait to get home and try out online. Any more feedback on the patch? It's getting some positive response on SRK...

i like the look of this game but was worried about the online play... the patch sounds like it might fix the problem???

my only worry now is that they might not be a lot of players playing from the UK if anyone is from the UK and plays this game could you give me a heads up on what its like online with the new patch please... cheers

@16

My point was the online is better than the demo, and Mai is in 13 so why are you complaining?

You seem more interested in "debating" how many people actually play this game. Which is stupid because that wasn't even my point.

shout outs to people not actually trying the patch
4 bars is nearly lagless and 3 bars is basically the same as 3 bars in sf4. no visible lag there either. no desyncs so far, haven't had a laggy match all day.

@qaigoov3rrated damn son u ok? u went out of ur way to come here and bash this game and its engine.yeah u have a right to voice your opinion but please atleast list facts.i could go on for about hours upon hours of post of why this game is the Truth and definitly one of if not the best fighters out now.but it seems it will go over your head.and judging by ur last comment about "eventhubs users" to get this game off this site just shows your stupidity.people like you are the reason the FGC will die soon.

@22 u obviously dont have the game, so u look even more stupid for bashing it. alot of games dont sell better than SF or mvc3, u know why? cus theyre HARDER. u lazya$$ dillholes dont feel like practicing or getting better. "why bother? i can just use X-factor & trounce a whole team." KOF13 is 4 REAL hardcore fighting game players who dont like being spoonfed win because of some bullsh*t comeback feature put in for skilless CASUALS. KOF's fanbase is so small right now because the generation of fighting-gamers are getting whinier & more indebted to. "wahh, this games too hard, it sux". & i play ALL fighting games btw. KOF13 has its things about i like about that i cant say 4 sf4 or mvc3. im fans of all of course. but KOF13 did good imo.

Good to see the patch is out and addresses quite a few of the issues. Having no spectator mode is still aggravating, but I still love this game, and definitely awesome to see it getting so much attention.

Now I need to go practice XD

Classic Women's Team, ftw.

@ #22... yeah you obviously need to take a strong-ass swig of some STFU juice. Seriously, you jump in popping off about a game you know little about... so little, in fact, you don't even know how much it costs.

@22 Kof has a decent size community.. and I never sat down and tried to play a king of fighters game until 13 I've always been a big fan of street fighter but I have to say KoF 13 is the best fighting game this generation period. Stop hating

I'll definitely test out that patch when I get home, that's for sure.

And damn, ignorance is bliss, "5 players is too high?", sure thing, it's the same kind of rejection and ignorance as people who see gamers as spoiled brats wasting their time on digital toys for no reason and without merits. Oh wait...

As a guy whos played every single KOF since 94', I'm glad to see this game getting the update and recogniton it deserves. I'e always been a KOF fan and although I enjoy playing Street Fighter, I'll always choose KOF over it. Now I'm gonna go and practice my Duo Lon and FINALLY fight someone online.
