Daigo Umehara plays through Street Fighter X Tekken tutorial mode

Posted by Nyoro
February 2, 2012 at 9:46 p.m. PST
The Capcom Channel has uploaded a 14-minute video of MCZ|Daigo checking out Street Fighter X Tekken. He runs through a bit of the tutorial mode then does some matches against the CPU.

This is entirely in Japanese. If you have any translations of what Daigo says, feel free to leave them in the comments.

It's cool to see Daigo so dedicated to brining arcades and video games to the fore-front of entertainment and hey, if he makes some cash off it more power to him. More on topic it looks like the tut gives good building blocks for playing in the SxT engine which is awesome! But I would love it if capcom made a tutorial based around the aspects of 2d fighting games as a whole and then launched into the games unique parts and what not. Oh well one can dream...or buy skullgirls :p

Daigo doesn't really say much. He isn't given much of a choice anyways. It's just the producer telling him what to do. They brought in Daigo just for viewers, not to get his opinion.

Wonder why people always generalize Asians as nice people? Your attitude effects the way you age. If you are always worried or stressed, you age quicker. Compare the typical American to the typical Asian. The Americans lifestlye will seem to be more stressed compared to the Asian. Sure modern science may say that enzyme reaction is the reason why people age..but its the attitude that influence the humans internal body reaction.

Simple. Live a positive lifestyle and you live and look younger. Live a lifestyle like #2 and you'll age quicker.

Lmao. I have seen information concerning enzyme reactions, but none of this attitude business. I rather stick to real science. Also you must not know a lot of Japanese people, or any really, because life in Japan can be stressful very early for example exams to transition into high school. Most people in the U.S can't really say they ruined their future at the age of 14.

#24. Compare a person with high stress to a person with little to no stress. Guarantee the person with little stress will live longer. Theres studies on it; feel free to look it up. ..In fact I'll put my money on it. So yes attitude will affect your longevity.

JinZo's avatar
JinZo said on February 3, 2012 at 12:29 a.m.

@22/23

While I agree with your main point, a typical American isn't any more stressed than typical Asians. Look at the lifestyle in Japan for example with high suicide rates, cramped atmosphere and the amount of global depression from strict work conditions and high standards.

#27
AnaboliChris's avatar
AnaboliChris said on February 3, 2012 at 12:35 a.m.

#27, while that is true, the percentage of stress is less with the japanese people compared to the americans by population.

key word here is 'by population'.

#28
AnaboliChris's avatar
AnaboliChris said on February 3, 2012 at 12:38 a.m.

To expand on this..if you think Japan suicide rate is high...the suicide rate in US is higher. They may have more poverty rate but that does not equate to stress. They live fair or below fair but they surely have less stress compared to the american population. Sht, we have americans here who live great yet they stress more than the average person.

#29
Default avatar
Akro said on February 3, 2012 at 12:42 a.m.

Anabolichris, stop putting Japanese people on a pedestal. If we're talking about suicide rates or things like that. Japan is amongst the highest along with U.S. and other "modern" societies. The more advanced the society the more prone it is to stress.

#30
Default avatar
Akro said on February 3, 2012 at 12:44 a.m.

This also applies for countries in poverty.

#31
AnaboliChris's avatar
AnaboliChris said on February 3, 2012 at 12:45 a.m.

Look at the article with Tokido...someone was surprised at how "Friendly" tokido looked. I was amazed at that comment because that tells about a person generalizing about the "Pro's," saying that most "pros" are not friendly. Well since we reside in the states, then I can conclude that, that person was referring and comparing tokido to the state side pros.

#32
AnaboliChris's avatar
AnaboliChris said on February 3, 2012 at 12:47 a.m.

The more advance a society is then the more it should know not to stress, #30.

People are too concerned about other things when they should be concerned about more important things. Thats what "poverty" in 3rd world countries teaches people

dude seriously? people age more because of stress? talk about urban legends.... o_O

people age faster because of the amount of food intake and because of damaging influences like (uv)radiation etc.

I don't know where you got your info mate or actually I probably do, you heard some scientific research but you do not know the full implications of it. does stress influence bodily functions, yes, is it in such a way that it significantly influences the aging process.....no way mate

anyway OT: i'm realy wondering what daigo actually thinks about sfxt and if he thinks it will surpass sf4 as the main fighting game. hope he will give his honest view on the game soon

Some translation, not sure if correct :P
=====
from 11 min to the end

Q-do you think it's faster than sf4?
A-yeah,in fact, the attack and confirmation, the reading are faster than sf4

Q-so, you're using ryu, what about other character?
A-some close combat fighters like zangief, the faster the better

Q-so what do you think about the game?
A-it's sure a capcom-base 2d fighting game, and some old system some new system
i think it'll be a good game, but i can't give more comment since i do not play that much

Q-about the tag mode? feel something different from sf4?
A-not experinced this kind of fight, you have to consider many aspects, the switching, the attack, etc

Q-gem system?
A-the time to activate is important, and differs from characters
Q-so we both use ryu, but different gem setting, the game will be very different?
A-yeah

That low forward fireball is a plenty effective here. Time will tell if Daigo will develop flashier combos.

But if people get blown up still by the tried and true low forward -> fireball, they can't really complain, can they?

It's another game targeted at the American audience. They love their nonsense fighters over there. Hell, they'll somehow make a big tournament scene over there revolving around this game.

This is the run down. Qualifiers will take place in the U.S.A. with the chance of appearing in the grand finals in Thailand. All of the usual "TOP" American players appear, minus Mike Ross who is on location at Gootecks' flat filming another episode of 'Excellent Adventures'.

Latif wins the whole tournament but states that he can't go to Thailand because he's got other, more important things to do. They then pass the task on to the runner up. He won't go because he can't get time off of work! The next 30 people can't go for various reasons ranging from not having a valid passport, to suffering from agoraphobia.

The end result - Mike ROSS ends up going, even though he didn't appear in the tournament. Gootecks and Mike Ross fly off to Thailand and film another web episode of Cross Counter, guest starring, Bob Venom, better known as Li Chi hung, a fisherman from Thailand who passes his time beating the local competition in fighting games in the Thai scene.

It's in the genetics. Asian people don't age fast, same as black people. Daigo says he is 30 but he looks like he is 25. Compare these 3 actors Tom Cruise 40's, Jackie Chan 50's and Denzel Washington 40's. Tom Cruise is the youngest but he looks a lot older than the other two. Poor white people

Your list is correct. But you are missing one important FACT!

Asian and African skin has a larger content of oil in their skin. This is why Caucasian skin wrinkles (ages) faster.

This is the one factor that has NOTHING to do with personal habits. And a Major factor in why as a rule Asians and Africans appear younger than Caucasians.

That's not to say that ALL white people look "old" or "older". There are exceptions to every rule.

The irony to all of this bickering about age/race/looking young is that culturally in Asia, people like to look OLDER than they are. They aren't obsessed with trying to look 25 when they're in their 30s, that's much more of a Western phenomenon. It is considered an insult rather than a compliment to say they look younger than their actual age.

For Japanese women, what you just said is almost the complete opposite of the truth. There are Japanese women in their thirties wearing schoolgirl outfits and pigtails and keeping teddy bears on the bed because the marriageable men have their heads turned by seventh-graders doing compensated dating. if you think tom cruise looks older than jackie chan, you are crazy
