History of Mortal Kombat series, PS Vita announcement, Ed Boon interview

MKSecrets.net has continued their history of Mortal Kombat series, with part 4. If you haven't been keeping up, this is an excellent set of videos covering this franchise's various highs and lows.

This piece starts off with the original Mortal Kombat motion picture, before moving on into the games that followed. You can check out parts 1, 2 and 3 as well.

Mortal Kombat 9 coming to the PlayStation Vita

IGN reported today that a portable version of Mortal Kombat 9 will be hitting the PlayStation Vita in the spring time 2012.

It will have all of the characters from the PS3 version, including Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain, Freddy Kruger and Kratos. Additionally, it will have added downloadable outfits and fatalities available in the PS3 version, including some brand new features outlined in the videos below.

Ed Boon says new Mortal Kombat game coming eventually, but also wants to work on other new IPs

Sitting down with GameSpot to talk shop, NetherRealm Studios creative director, Ed Boon, said that while he'd like to do another entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise, he also wants the company to do different games, genres and IPs.

He said that he'd be surprised if another Mortal Kombat game didn't happen, though. He also briefly comments on character customization in fighting games and that they were very pleased with MK9's sales.

Right before MK9 came out...I was waiting in line at Maccas...and these kids were talking about it coming out and talking about the old ones...

"...remember when you could turn Sub-Zero into a polar bear and eat your opponent..."

Dawg difference is Battle Fantasia ain't got a sequel/portable port/ anything coming out for it but I do want Eventhubs to cover it if it does come out because I'm all about the Texas Knee and the WI-L-DO!

Also anyone notice this is what people complain about that capcom does with their fighters....(playable charaters who were in the previous version, more offline stuff and other fun odds and ends like Big head mode and outfits).

It's a good feeling seeing MK news on the front page of EventHubs. Definitely a progressive move on the site's part.

And anyone with even a slightly open mind knows that MK9 is not trash.

As for MK, I played the first 2 but never rated it compared to SF.
