Over on Capcom-Unity's Ask-Capcom forums, members have posted a thread asking if Capcom would be open to small title updates to fix potential changes that were too harsh or if any unintended interaction between moves were discovered. It's really unknown at this time. As you know, many of the changes are rather significant both at a character by character level and the overall pace of the game and general strategies. We'll have to see what the response is.
Guile's Sonic Boom clashing with MechaGief's Green Hand will cause your X360 to red ring on the spot with the 2013 update. lol
I'm waiting to try out the new update, I've still been entertained with the game either way.
The fact that he wouldn't just reply "yeah, probably" leaves me shaking my head. They are THAT afraid of past interviews being used against them by consumers that they just won't ever give yes or no answers anymore. I can't say I blame them, but he's in a way saying that if there is problems caused by the patch, they MIGHT fix that? That's kind of lame, despite their hard work fixing the game for free.
Who the hell is asking this already? Looking to cry.
As good a news article as any to post this on. Happy New Year EventHubs staff and everyone!
When does the update come out? (just purchased the game)
I asked this actually. And my reasoning was that SFxT has been full of unintended issues (Raven's c.HP loop. The Jin swag kick. Lei's Orchid Palm infinite.) as well as the fact this balance update is a pretty heavy overhaul but features extremely strong changes to characters and system mechanics. Many characters who were only barely top tier got hit hard by nerfs (Julia, Cody, Rufus, Ryu) While characters who were either already top tier got better, or were a high mid tier character got strong buffs on TOP of the top tier getting nerfs (Law, Kazuya, Jin, Heihachi)
This is all fine. However what this "article" failed to do was post my actual question where the last thing I said was "or is the sheer scope of 2013 intended to be a sort of finale where any further issues will just have to be lived with?"
update is out 1/29
I so can't wait. Law flash kicks, Steve armored combo starts, GIEF. and I got DLC money LETS GO
@10 SFxT 2013 had to happen because of the negativity surrounding the series....... Capcom obviously went all out to shove the game down our throats and you can imagine just how much money they have wasted on releasing patches if each patch cost the usually stated 40K. I can imagine them releasing more patches if people still aren't receptive of the game, since they seem to see SFxT not just as a big title but as an experiment into the direction the SF series and fighting games should take.
@16 the 'big system changes' came after players had the chance to play 2013.
I don't really take any players comments on this game serious except for a select few. Sethlolol being one of the I think ryan hunter too. Those guys play SFxT everyone else plays SF4 or the basics and boosts. 2013 comes around that's getting blown up.
i think its a bit too early to talk about this or even mention it. its giving permission to the babys to cry for every little thing once the patch drops. i know they probably really want to make up for what they thought mightve been a disappointed, and it was to a lot of people, but there needs to be a limit to how much they baby us. they might try too hard and end up ruining a good thing.
@18... you are the idiot... yes it does cost around 40k to submit stuff to sony and MS, that is not including dev costs either.
Also no where in this post does it even mention costs, it was commented by a user. But then what do we expect from some one who's main game is Smash ( the bastard child of the FGC that no one likes )

@18... Yeah everyone is right mate, 360 submission costs about 40k for updates and patches and it can always fail submission which again costs for a re-submission...
CoNr is right on the money ha... Well anyway everyone has put you straight so...

This game was like a black hole...it sucked money out of both the consumer and the producer. Very interesting.
Is Capcom trying to dig their own grave or something? People aren't gonna buy more of the game with the patch.
- The on-disc content is still locked unless you buy it online; it's large you buy a large pizza, finding out that 2 slices out of 8 are missing and that you had to pay the delivery boy extra to get them.
- The gems are still truly outrageous; people actually claimed that the first versions without the gems were better and now it's worse. Ayano says that he would need to rebalance the roster if gems are removed, but if he did all that for that patch, surely he can for without the gems.
- No comeback mecanic; this might be a bane to gamers, but there's nothing wrong having the opponent turn the tables in his favor when he's about to get KOed. It keeps the other player on his toes. Furthermore, connecting a team super... doesn't feel more powerful than a solo super, when it should hurt like a UMvC3 lvl. 3 Hyper Combo.
- Pandora's uselessness; it's a gamble mecanic ONLY useful in mid-combos. Miscalculate and you're dead...
- the lack of variety in combos; jabbing your way to victory is rather weak.
- the screwing of X360 users; not only don't they get Mega Man and Pac-Man, they also can't play local team matches online on the same account.
- the utter lack of power for the guest characters; I know that guests aren't allowed in tourneys, but this game should have given the guest characters better stats, like giving all 5 the same HP/defensae as Ryu or Kazuya for instance.
What Capcom has to do to get more people to buy it is simple: add more characters (Alex & R.Mika, C.Viper & Rose, E.Honda & Hakan, Miguel & Zafina, Lee & Ganryu, Bruce & Feng), more stages and just fix the obvious flaws: the gems, Pandora, the 360 problems and the underpowered guest characters.
The issue at this point with Capcom is their are flaws that never should have even made it on to the final product in the first place, and CLEAR balancing/mechanic flaws.
Yet are surprised by our hesitance towards applying ourselves to the game, and as opposed to putting an honest attempt at fixing it they keep doing patches then do this "if things go well we'll do another one".
However they need to realize that if they put an honest effort in and fix this crap maybe people would come back to it. They can't expect us to put our hand out first. They need to come to us with something as a peace offering OPPOSED to just pulling this "we fixed our f*** up for you, be grateful" attitude.
somebody will be fired after the dust settles.
ono will remain because they are not paying him because he is crazy.
capcom will make a new streetfighter so they can make money. they will put every character in it and all the fans will not be happy and the internet will explode.
Let them try... Game's do need this overhaul.
But... Don't be fooled. There wont be any new characters or stages.
All the budget was spent first time in the production plus a
third set of costumes was cancelled due to "poor" sales.
Game is a trap. You get what you see. Nothing more.
I hope this time will be an enjoyable ride...
I have to agree with 28 when it comes to underpowered guest characters. Toro and Kuro being underpowered is not an issue, however, the others definitely are. Cole and Mega Man could easily have 1000 HP, and Pac-Man could have even more. Speaking of Pac-Man, they were EXTREMELY lazy with him. His moveset is really the bare minimum. At least Mega Man has a couple of unique special moves, but Pac-Man is just extremely simple design-wise. They give him a few interesting things in 2013, but not enough. Him and Mega Man would really benefit from some command normals, Pac-Man could even have some kind of command grab or something, and have Marduk damage on his normals (+10 across the board).
What bothers me the most though is Cole. He's a really fun, unique character, but his HP is just too low for him to be viable. A good combo and a few pokes will take him out.
I'm pretty positive Capcom is doing this for the people who actually still play the game. They couldn't possibly hope to gain higher sales just because they are patching the game. Casuals aren't going to go out and re buy this game just because a patch came out for it. My guess is that they want people to actually take this game seriously and give it some sort of tourny life. So to the people that think capcom is trying to "milk" more money out of us with this patch should just take a step back and think alittle more about the situation they are in.
Happy NEW year EVENTHUBS staff and members! Wishing us all the best this 2013!
Regarding the article. YES, let's play the game first before asking these silly questions. I'm sure Capcom worked hard in working on this patch. I am going to give this game a try once again.
Jesus, people wanting a third patch before the secondary patch (before the inital was even was released) without even seeing how the original patch affects the metagame and overall balance.
Times are looking grim for FG's.
@37 and 36.
No my point is people act as though we should be grateful they patch this. When no they should be grateful we have given them our money even though they continue to disappoint by putting out lackluster products.
@41: Yeah, you should. They have no obligations to make this patch, yet they do it anyways to please the people who already bought the game. And what lackluster products are you talking about? SFxT is the only game that somewhat falls into that description.
Still only one small problem with this patch, make dlc characters free of charge and refund everyone who was gullable enough to pay for them and it'll be perfect.
The problem isn't the game, it's the kids who buy it and expect a true StreetFighter experience. It's like buying DoA and expecting VF out of it.
You can tweak and update and whatever, but a dud is a dud - period. Capcom is just trying to get some consumers happy. They should scrap this project and start what everyone is really wanting - a SF update.
This update is just an admittance to the opinion that the game sucked in the first place. And to think an update is going to fix everything is retarded.
peace OUT.
Why cant Capcom have an "Harada" attitude?
Its blatantly clear that the FGC The update system itself have turned a lot of people into complainers and now its like no one wants to learn the ropes if its not perfect.. smh
@40 Its not looking good at all bruh..
SFxT was a failure since the gem-system was announced, the wacky loop-/juggle-combos, obstrusive graphic-effects and bad netcode did the rest, even when some people didn't want to hear the truth.
Capcom should focus on SF4 / SF5 instead throwing money into a bottomless SFxT barrel.
#46 - the original didn't suck. It wasn't a dud. It was unfinished.
Capcom's corporate officers pushed the game out the door six months too early because Capcom is broke from bad business decisions over the last five years that don't even have anything to do with fighting games. That people are already trolling this update before it's even out, is just a reminder that the petulant members of the FGC want this game to die because they want it to die. It has nothing to do with the quality of the game.
Meanwhile, the people who have actually tried to understand the game, comprehend it (including some pro players) have supported it through thick and thin, and they are the ones reporting that the 2013 version is in fact mostly what everyone's been waiting for. The trolling will continue however, because the simple truth is the community got a bug up its butt about the game, and has decided to destroy it regardless of whether the game is good, bad, or ugly. Look at the people in this comment section mindlessly repeating memes like "Capcom is lazy" even though that makes zero sense in context of this article or even related to the 2013 update, which is anything but a sign of "laziness".
The FGC's biggest enemy is not Capcom, or any game developer or publisher. It's the FGC.
at #49 championship_edition- and that's the truth everything you said was right on the money, though capcom being broke from whatever i don't see that happening, they gave away over a lot of money for tournaments, and v2013 is free along with street fighter x mega-man, but then again all the DLC and the gems that was put in the game that you had the option to pay for kinda proves that point, here's to looking forward to v2013
I'm sure if they gonna be make updates after SFxT 2013 it will be like Super,Hyper,Ultimate (choose one) SFxT with all those DLC (disc locked content) characters unlocked for a full retail price. They did that with MvC3 and SF4 so I'm can bet there will be another SFxT update. I know Capcom practices too well.
Im looking forard to the update, problem here its that everyone that complains about the game havent played it or just played it barelely a week or so...Save yourself the time and avoid posting that you hate sfxt, it might get a negative effect on the franchise, no money = no updates even for AE or even UMVC3.
@51
I don't think they did that with either of those games.
Regular characters unlocked, yes. But nothing else you posted applies.
@54 Well both of those were just pretty much updates for vanilla games at full retail prices.
Neither were full retail prices. And neither came with DLC the previous games had.
@56
Dude, you not knowin what the hell you talkin bout.
@51 for that to happen they must be convinced first that people WILL buy those updates. Hard to imagine they will when SFxT is still receiving so much hate and even ignoring that the game sold much less than vanilla MvC3 and the SF4 games did.
Spoiled kids...
Always complaining.
I'm in my 30's and i played a lot of bad fighting games in my life and definitely SFXT is not one of them.
It's ok if you dont like but please just shut your F* mouth and let the game alone, there's a lot of people who still playing the game.
Just move on and make a favor to yourself and for the internet...
You should be well aware buy Capcom's fighting games procedure:
They ALWAYS lunch BROKEN and UNFINESHED games and after a While a "2nd or reviewd version" when the "reviewnd version always was to be the real game.
They do that. And YOU (myself manytimes) fell for their #$ยจ%#; praying and thanking Cashcom realising REALLY needed PATCHS or "new" versions when in many times, they are just trowing perfum in the poo...
@61
You're that old and you don't know the difference between a terrible game and a terribly rushed one?
SFxT was terribly rushed and in some ways this makes the game terrible from a gameplay standpoint. Not saying I'm one of the people that think that because I still have the game but let's not act like it's the gold standard and doesn't deserve the criticism it has gotten.
