Maximizing combos. Utilizing the game's engine. Great reads. Blowing up top players. Doing so with underused characters.
James Chen says it himself in the video.
Sethlolol isn't playing this as if it's supposed to be SF4. Actually PLAYING STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN.
@#5
I wouldn't call Law underused..Kuma, yeah I guess.
And those points you made out applies to SF4 as well.
Sethlolol seems pretty overrated to me personally: his style is pretty
alright, but those random launchers which cost him games annoy me.
Sethlol is the ONLY player in this tourney who was actually playing SFxT. Everyone else is just getting by with their fundamentals in other titles.
I see a glimpse of what SFxT can be when I watch him play, and it looks exciting!
Man I love watching Tatsu and Sethlolol play. So good!
Tatsu, Yukimura and Sethlolol were fun to watched.
Wait I just noticed this. Where's the Gamerbee footage?
RIP Cody.
Should have at least given him SOMETHING to offset the fact his c.LK is now a higher frame count and more unsafe than Hugo or Jack-X and the fact they added 106F to his moves overall (yes almost 2 full seconds were added to his moves, his boosts were stupid good and now are insanely unsafe even among boosts)
Let him cancel his far MK or far MP. Reduce the recovery on his HK Ruffian so that he can actually combo off of it like most characters can with their anti air specials (DP/Flip Kick/Uppercut/ect) or make his overhead have some comboability without a tag. Or give him a wall bounce off of a counter hit MK Ruffian. Give him SOMETHING.
I've spent close to 40hours in the training room just trying to find tech for Cody that will work with the changes he has coming and frankly speaking, the best tech I found was: Play Kazuya/Jin/Steve/Law instead because other than Cody's b-MP he ain't got much goin for him in 2013 :/
James Chen (or David, can't remember which) also said after he got eliminated that sethlolol getting so far in the tournament meant a lot to the SFxT fans because he was someone that actually is a student of the game and enjoys it. I wholeheartedly agree but also feel that Infiltration is a student of the game as well. Even though he did win using characters that will rightly get nerfed, he did put in a lot of time learning the game and what works in the current state of it. Same with Tokido (50,000+ PP!!!!). And of course, can't forget Tatsu and all the training vids he's put out there for the fans.
Basically, I do think this tournament was good for the game.
And I think the 2013 patch will do the game a lot of good too (Man, I hate Cody in his current iteration).
Also, when the game first came out I used the same team as Sethlolol but I couldn't get the hang of Kuma's slow-as-molasses moveset. So I give him even more props for mastering him so much.
#7 That's his playstyle. He takes leaps of fate in a game where it's already so hard to win by something other than time over. Overrated?? Not at all. He got that far because of the way he plays the game, with those raw launchers that weren't easy to read. And not sure where the SF4 reference actually gets into the loop but w/e. You want to call someone overrated? Point to the Rufus brothers (Justin, Ricky) and Combofiend.
#18 Nah, they studied the game (pretty well I must say) and played it at a top level for the same reason 90% of the people did: because of the car. We'll see how seriously Tokido and Infiltration take the game now that this tourney's over, and with v2013 coming out I'm not sure how obsolete their gamestyle will get. The real, high value note is that Seth, a player that actually enjoys the game and played it with a straight face since day 1, got so far, and that's actually good news for the dedicated, albeit silent community for SFxT.
WOW I DONT KNOW THEY INVITE PSY LIKE A HOSTER, NICE, UP GANGAM STYLE "SARCASM"
