Stan "Artgerm" Lau is an artist Capcom has been calling on a lot lately. He redid the artwork for Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition and Darkstalkers Resurrection. We wanted to highlight some of the pieces he's done over the years, along with his official Capcom works.

You can scope out a gallery of random items below, and see his official works for Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition and Darkstalkers Resurrection after the jump.

Amazing artist, yep. But i just don`t love how characters looks, just miss the old art "style" from capcom games. Omar Dogan in a new rival school game art? no, please :/

I prefer the old art style... like anime, hope Capcom don't use him to make artworks to Street Fighter Alpha 3

same here maybe the old style really defined for me the impression on these characters

even though these look really good, his interpretation always felt kinda off

(and yo that's some BIG eyes on sean..)

Love this guy's art. Pretty surprised to see folks who dislike it in these comments, but nobody around here ever seems to like anything. I've been in a few of Artgerm's streams. Very chill and meticulous artist. So glad Capcom's had him aboard lately.

Artwork is good, I prefer Bengus or Akiman, but I've no complaints about Artgerm. I guess I miss the old school. :(

Dude draws good titties.

The middle-period (97-99 plus CvS2) SNK style is still my favorite FG look, though.

I like how he draws the women with ACTUAL MUSCLE TONE. They are fighters, after all.

In their games, Capcom seems to be the only dev to do this right...NAMCO!

This guy is great. I'm a bigger fan of Shinkiro, but I couldn't argue with someone if they said they prefer Stan Lau.

That Morrigan in the sky is the best piece I've seen him do and that's saying something cuz I think he's pretty good.

Personally, my favorite artist Capcom's employed is the one who did the Tatsunoko vs Capcom art. Wouldn't mind a feature on whoever that is.

#18 - This art is the furthest thing in the world from "awful".

Anyway, great stuff. Lau has a good eye for capturing just enough of the style that the characters were originally rendered in, without merely copying the Japanese artwork or its style. His character renditions for 3rd Strike Online are particularly fantastic. In terms of raw technical ability, I would say Shinkiro is currently a little bit higher in rank. But Stan Lau is nothing to sneeze at. His stuff is still better than 90% of what you'll find among professional game industry illustrators.

kinu nishimura will always be my fav capcom artist. Also theres an artist by the name of Kandoken (Steven Mack) on dA, which you can tell his art is influenced by Kinu and Akiman. Ive tried to get his art posted on here but to no success. If you guys want to check him out heres his dA
