Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition's patch delayed until after Darkstalkers Resurrection's released, no speed fix The Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition patch has been delayed by Iron Galaxy Studios.

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins and Darkstalkers all share a common code base Iron Galaxy Stuidos decided to delay the patch until after Darkstalkers Resurrection is released. Several fixes coming in the upcoming 3sOE patch came from finding glitches in MvCO and because of this they want to wait until Darkstalkers ships so that any bugs they find in the game, could potentially be fixed in 3sOE.

Additionally they decided to not do anything with the game's speed issue.

We have decided we are not going to do anything about the game speed issue. The reasons why are complicated, but the summary is the Arcade version of 3S doesn’t really run at a reliable frame rate. It can fluctuate on a stage-to-stage and character-to-character basis that we’re not confident we can properly reproduce, given that this is a port and not straight CPS3 Emulation. On top of that, if we did decide to hardcode some of these speed differences versus the Arcade cabinet, it would be extremely difficult to test as we’d need to look at every combination of character on every stage and make sure we didn’t make things worse for some of those combinations in our quest to alleviate the speed issue. Given that we’re measuring differences in fractions of frames in some instances, we’re not confident we can catch every little timing variation between the two games. Because of this we’ve elected to leave it as it’s been since launch.

Well that's pretty sad, due to already releasing an imperfect port we cannot make it better because it's too much work. Well at least some kind of patch is coming out and it's on SALE now :)

I'm very glad they gave us an explanation. Idk why people are hating, dude spoke the truth, can not fault him for being honest and straightforward. This is the kind of relationship I want as a customer of capcom: Explanations for decisions and the whole truth, even if it isn't what we want to hear.

I agree. capcom should be more often upfront with their fans and customers. we're not idots, we're not immune to reason - this only helps to understand and build a relationship based on trust. I feel respected that way and not messed around with, like with the SFxT DLC.

No double impact and new generation stages either. That's disappointing.

What is this game speed issue they're bringing up? Are people actually complaining that the game -doesn't- slow down where it used too or am I missing something?

I've said it before. Would rather wait and have something great then have something rushed and be terrible.

What they saying is that the Arcade Version itself has flaws. Arcade "perfect" is relative from the way I'm reading this.

Never noticed any speed issue.

From a historical standpoint this is kind of crappy. Because all of the original cps3 boards are dying. So if they cannot be replicated, the arcade version of SF3 will simply cease to exist. That blows.

Beyond that point, I have absolutely no problem with 3So. Really nice package IMO.

@11: Well there is CPS3 emulators but then again I'd rather play 3SOE. Also I thought that they "die" when a certain battery dies out and you can pay to replace them?

See, this is why we can't have nice things. They need to stop trying to perfectly replicate the arcade version, because the people who care the most won't be pleased no matter what unless you sell them an original SFIII arcade machine for the same price.

Instead of trying to do the impossible, why not try to fix some of the problems or add some new cool stuff like NG and 2I stages, rare remix soundtracks (SFIII NG arranged), or separating character themes so we can give Ken and Alex different themes.

Same goes for MvC:Origins, why not use the DC version as a base since it had more content? Sure some of the timings are different, but people are complaining anyway because it's impossible to replicate CPS2 or CPS3 exactly on anything but CPS2 or CPS3.

I can't stand this port. I had way more fun on PC GGPO till Capcom released this on consoles. Less was better. Please don't screw up Darkstalkers.

This is what I call an answer.

How Sven usually gives answers:
"I don't know that's why I have no idea I am just being vague that's why I can't tell anything so nothing I can say for certain for now..."

I have been playing Third Strike for a while now and I haven't noticed any slow down at all while playing. Then again I never played the arcade version, so I guess I wouldn't know the difference, but there doesn't seem to be a problem from what I've seen.
