Wonder what the most popular games are in the fighting game community? Check our stats page

Wonder what the most popular games are in the fighting game community? Check our stats page Hot on the heels of our Fight Tracker announcement, we've also rolled out a brand new stats area here on EventHubs, and a large part of the effort of getting this thing going fell on the shoulders of TheUncharted. Currently, you'll find a breakdown of the most popular fighting games in our community, which is updated about once a day with current numbers.

The games at the top shouldn't be too much of a shock, but if you're curious how much of an audience new titles like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Dead or Alive 5 or PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale have attracted so far, this is a great place to look.

We have a ton of plans for expansion of the stats page, and just like the Fight Tracker, you're going to see many new bells and whistles rolled out over time. Exactly what these are and what they'll entail is still being kept somewhat under wraps, but as soon as they're made available to the public, we'll be announcing them on the front page.

This is just the start of a very bright future for fighting game fans here on EventHubs. We're just getting warmed up, and you're going to see even more incredible stuff from us here. Stay tuned.

while it's a very neat feature, it's not something that needs a hotbat-short cut imo. It's okay for now, but after a few weeks, it might be better off in a sub-menu to give space for other useful stuff.

Also, no surprise here that SF4 dominates. I thought it would do even better tho. Might be due to EH opening up from Capcom only titles.

I hope we get the same with characters somewhere in the future :p

Yet they didn't trade sfxt because they actually were waiting for the fixes like everyone else and still played online because they still enjoyed the game, and didn't give Harada a cent of their money. In reality all the haters and whiners complaining about capcom and sfxt are the company's biggest supporters, and this ehubs tracker shows it.

Since this site is based in USA, the overall Eventhubs user base would have a lot of USA users. Anyway, SSF4 being at the top is no surprise, as well as UMVC3 being in 2nd place. I'm a bit surprised about 3rd Strike being in 4th place but, come to think of it, that game would be played by the hardcore players and only a very small number of casual players would play 3rd Strike. However, look at SFxT, currently in 3rd place. I'm pretty sure that some people were saying that 'no one plays SFxT'. You can't argue with the facts now, people. Too sweet!

SFxT is "up there" (33% is decent for a current title I suppose) mainly because it is has a huge amount of fan appeal from being a crossover title with a roster of characters people love.

It's impressive to see 3rd Strike at 25% despite its age.

TTT2, I'm a little surprised it's not higher. Any ideas why it has suffered?

KoF13 - I'll go ahead and say that 16% is respectable for a game that isn't featured much.

Persona 4: Arena - Probably far more popular in Japan than it is in the US or Europe.

Mortal Kombat 9 - Kind of a bad game. Not really living up to the hype/expectations.

Skullgirls - 10% is impressive for an indie.

SSF2THDR - Old, so it's low, but I'm not surprised it is rounding out the top 10.

MvC2 - Old and broken (though that's why it's still played I think).

BlazBlue - Another Japanophiles only title?

Soul Calibur 5 - No idea about this one. Why has it tanked so far?

SSBB - See SSBM, except you randomly trip sometimes.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus - No idea on this one either. Too old/Japan only? Anyone have ideas why this isn't still a big player?

SSBM - The party game they stripped 80% of the game mechanics out of and tried to call it a fighter. Doesn't really belong on this list. SSBM fans: by all means, have your fun, but don't expect to be taken seriously in the FGC at large.

VF5 - Too old to be higher on the list.

DOA5 - T&A only sells so much. Sad to see a new title fall this far, but it really doesn't merit being any higher than this.

SSF2T - Older than a large percentage of the FGC, I suspect.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale - Someone tried to turn Smash Bros. into an actual fighter. Did not succeed.

Tekken 6 - Probably just old, plus competition from the current Tekken title. Anyone got any insight on if T6 was a bomb for some reason?

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - Good game, but the cast features a lot of obscure characters, leading to a lack of continued interest outside of Japan, I imagine.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD - Old, and really, really obscure. Goofy characters. Solid gameplay though, shame to see it so far down on the list.

MvC Origins - Massively overshadowed by other Marvel titles.

To be fair, I'm not surprised seeing this since most people on this site do play Capcom games. The lower rated games actually have a far greater fanbase along with other reasons, so it's for certain no one should broaden this as the entire FGC like most are doing now.

Besides that this is pretty sweet of EH to do this, to see what games are popular in this community. It would be awesome to see these kinds of improvements to the site gradually.

This tells me that:
- Capcom needs to update SSFIVAE.
- Capcom needs to update UMvC3, by twisting Marvel's arm if necessary.
- Capcom needs to drop SFxTK in favor of SSFIVAE and UMvC3.
- Capcom needs to consider 3rd Strike a rightful sequel to SF2 instead of a missed attempt.
- Namco needs to amp TTT2 to make more appealing.
- SNK Playmore should make either KoF14 or Samurai Shodown 7.
- Atlus and Arc System Works need to release extra characters for P4A.
- NetherRealms needs to focus on Injustice to make it surpass MK9.
- The Skullgirls team needs to be get back on track.
- Capcom should remake more HD-sized 2D games.

People who play AE/Capcom games are attracted to this site.

Comparing each game sales to the size of each game community would tell if Capcom game fans are the just the loudest/most active online.

Then finally comparing these stats to the one before would tell how well EventHubs is reaching the "FGC".

@#56 SJ mentioned it well: Tekken fans visit TekkenZanpakuto, MK fans to TestYourMight... 'capcom' fans visit EventHubs

The lesson is for EventHubs to not make its traffic seasonal or rather limited. It should try to reach and represent a better junk.

People are begging in the TTT2 section for frame data. Where's the love? If I'm a Tekken fan, why visit this site.

Stats are stats in the end: thanks for sharing.

If you do the same at dustloop BB will be first, P4 will be 2nd, GG in 3rd, then Capcom fighters down the line.

As a Third Strike player who also plays SFIV, this is great news! Third Strike is alive and well. Excellent! It explains why I can always find matches on Xbox Live.

People are taking these stats out of context & underestimating how large the "FGC" actually is.

This is a poll on an American website, that just recently stopped being exclusive to Capcom fighters. It's also a miniscule sample size of players even for the FGC of America. A high school prob & stats class would even be able to tell you these results aren't reliable. Just saying don't take this too seriously.

@92
Thought KOF would have had a bit more love. MK sounds about right.
SSF4 no doubts about that. UMVC3 was quite suprising.

Not surprised by the results.

But not enough Persona love.

Not gonna lie, I was disappointed with TTT2 sales myself, especially after the FGC did nothing but bash Ono and praise Harada nearly every day until the game's release, saying they would support it because of all of the service. Unlike most, I kept true to my word, and pre-ordered. I would have paid so much more for TTT2 considering its oodles of content.

Im not surprised TTT2 is under 3s, everyone talked that game up like it would remove SFxT when it ended up falling under the bus, even with its great release and free dlc, whereas SFxT had the worst release for a fighter yet, along with poor dlc options and really poor PR. I still like SFxT, and I still main the game, and every single day that passes I feel more and more like its worth it that I stuck through the FGC's hate machine.

I think that the Eventhubs community and therefore the Eventhubs fight tracker is biased towards capcom games. Tekken and MK players, for example, are still probably more likely to frequent other sites. That's not to say that Tekken still wouldn't finish beneath SF and Marvel. With Eventhubs including all fighting games now and with great features like the fight tracker, I expect more and more non-capcom fans will find their way over to this site.

Are you all stupid? Did you read how this data is collected? It's just based on whether or not you rated your skill in a game on the Fight Tracker. I rated my skill for ever fighting I ever "played" not am currently playing or play. So basically everyone rated their skill in AE even me, even though I don't own the game or travel to tournaments, same thing with Marvel, I rated my skill in it but I don't play it seriously. That's where this poll is BS.

That's why you see SFxT and 3rd Strike up there when no one actually plays them.

The Real Order is;

AE
Marvel
Tag 2
