lol the sfxt vid was nice!!!! hearing justin's and max's views on the game made me smile and want to troll on some haters loooooool sfxt is like cvs2 and sf3 looool no gimmicks loooool the haters are gonna go wild loool i actually cant wait to see some of the comments!
the game is here and it has a hardcore following and some casuals and newbies, but the game being what it is hasn't appealed to the masses, it is what it is, but im so happy to hear that its more pro sided than noob sided!
long live sfxt... mark my words this game will be a flipping monster when capcom have AE.V12'd it up
I think SFxT will become the new SFIII with time... Everyone hated at first because it was different, but it will become a legendary game in the future. When I read comments that say that the game is easy and good for starters I just know those people never played the game. Yes, Capcom did a horrible job with it BUT that doesn't mean the game is bad at all.
@Grevier its never too late. The game has an active online community.
@5
DLC didn't kill the game, you aren't forced to buy the DLC, it isn't like you weren't able to continue to play once DLC was released. Some people considered the on disc DLC was offensive and dropped the game, others weren't fazed by it and continued to play without paying a dime for anything.
Max said it all. I've been defending this game for awhile and Max puts it perfectly.
It's a new engine, may look and smell like SFIV, but it's not the same. There's going to be glitches and things like that with new engines. SFIV, MvC3, and hell lets go all the way back World Warrior, are perfect examples of new engines being introduced that had issues but over time became refined into what we know and love.
SFIV evolved into SSFIV then into SSFIVAE. And we paid for those revisions.
Then there was MvC3, 9 months later, we paid for another revision, UMvC3.
With SFxT, new engine, new problems, but this time around, we're not paying for a new revision, Capcom is going to patch it for free over time. We may not get new characters because of that, but the issues will be fixed. We're not getting a Super or Ultimate SFxT, the issues are going to be fixed by patching, not a new game.
@8:
"you aren't forced to buy the DLC"... that actually is true but when you think about it, you're kinda forced to buy the dlc. the very idea of having characters as dlc is wrong. this is actually the main reason I didn't buy the game...it's not because it's on disc dlc, it's just that there shouldn't be characters as dlc.
I actually bought all the costumes in SSFIV:AE because I love the game so much that I felt like capcom deserved the extra cash.
I always said that I will buy the FULL game at a reasonable price...and that's probably gonna be when Super Street Fighter X Tekken is released.
The comparison of SFxT to SF3 isn't particularly apt. While SF3 may not have had a blanket comeback mechanic, many of the top tier characters in that game had their own individual comeback mechanics. (examples: Yun had Genei-Jin, Chun-li's favorite super art was stupid powerful and she could stock -two- of them. Makoto only had to open you up once or twice to easily win.) The top tier characters were broken just enough to make such comebacks reasonably possible. The parrying system as well allowed for more back-and-forth play. It mainly boils down to parrying and the non-standardization of super moves in SF3- characters that had really good supers(super bars were different based on each super art, and this could be a big advantage for some characters) generally were top tier, and mainly because they could make a good comeback with those moves.
So even in this game that "didn't have a comeback mechanic," the best characters were those that -could make a comeback better than others-. The pros may feel more "in control" in a game like SFxT, but that's because there's -less to worry about-. Comeback mechanics like Ultras in SF4 are an extra hurdle every player, even the pros, have to keep an eye out for on the way to victory. The threat of one mistake costing you a lot of health keeps the game interesting and prevents good players from just sitting fat and happy on their mastery of the basics. This makes the game more challenging to play, and more fun for spectators.
The reason this is absent from SFxT is the game is far too heavy on the defensive side. Supers don't do enough damage and meter is consolidated to one source, so you can't stock up a major attack while also using your EX moves as you should be doing. The game's original comeback mechanic, "Pandora mode" is a joke- it is both not particularly powerful and -makes you lose- if you don't get a victory in the short amount of time it gives you. Even the long team combos, while they do decent damage, aren't enough to bring about reliable comebacks, since the opponent can just switch character and have a full health bar to work with while also allowing the partner to recover some health back. The game is far too heavily weighted on defense, there's not enough ways to do a ton of damage and really get a strategic advantage after getting down on health.
The pros will like it because they are more in control, but this is only by virtue of there being less for them to worry about.
like Chris responded I cant believe that a student able to make $5934 in a few weeks on the computer. did you look at this web site (Click on menu Home more information) http://goo.gl/lp65Z
#11 said it so well =)
This game was an abomination because it represented out and out arrogance from Capcom a complete step backwards from the way it approached the community in the dev of SFIV and MVC3. I think this reason is the main reason why fighting fans like myself avoid the game to make a statement.
However, I did pick up SFxT and the "being in control" feeling is a total question mark from me. The timer issue was awful, the character balancing is a joke, the long combos do pitiful damage output and the hype factor is really missing. Then there's gems. Unlike groove select or ISM select, gems didn't really do much to refine skill as much as it getting in it's way. I know, I know, no fighting game is perfect from it's conception but really - growing pains aside tuning wise -, the refusal to budge on gems, the lack of hype and the DLC chars/fiasco (not feeding the trolls here) and I personally, don't think this is SFxT.
Once again, I had the game. Sorry Max + Wong but Capcom VS SNK 2 it aint.
No one was saddened to hear Street Fighter x Tekken was taken out of Evolution.
lol...Everyone will forever be butthurt by SFxT one way or another. The butthurt legacy they'll call it.
only noobs wouldn't enjoy watching this. i'm watching how two players adapt to each other's style, mix-up and set-ups. noobs only see the moves being done over and over again.
the game has come backs, but its not as simple as a fadc ultra, you have to land at least 2 or 3 openings and hit heavy, the come back feels more worthy and you have to work to get it.
long combos dont pay in damage as it would be no fun if you hit one combo and drained a load of life, you have to work for your combos and know how long to juggle for, for damage and tag potential, this is not marvel people lol
pandora is very specific, as it can lead to a instant kill, they made it very strict, you have to hit confirm it and timings can be very tight, its pretty high end play but it is not useless.
a simple poke or counter can lead to a nightmare lol you have to be very carful, just imagine one footsie can lead to 300-500 damage (including grey health) that is something to worry about but you have to work for you poke unlike in sf4 where you can land a fadc ultra pretty easy and even a match out, in sfxt you have to confirm poke, then manage your meta and then probably have to rush in and do it at least one or 2 more times for a comeback and the opponent has the option to raw tag, so much going on lol so long to explain.
game is very sick, reading some of people comments lead me to believe that some people do not know how to play the game, and for that i can totally understand why you wouldn't enjoy the game.
I find it very interesting that there are 4 vids of different games posted, yet most of the comment, if not all, are about SFxT. To me, it shows that most people still care about this game.
@ 11
The difference with SF3, is that those character's "comeback mechanics" are part of their overall strategy and gameplay. When you play a Ken/Yun/Chun you know that their gameplan is to get meter and land that super, you expect and prepare for it.
SF4, you have whole other strategies that change around until you gain that Ultra meter. It's not necessarily your goal to get your ultra, once your opponent still has it, you have to watch out for it. But even the pros still get surprised and will get caught by it.
Max's right, in games like CVS and SF3, I feel alot more in control compared to Marvel or SF4. When I play someone who isn't that good, I know I pretty much have the match in my hands. For example, in 3S, I know my opponent has to land that Chun super or that Yun genei-jin combo, but my opponent may not have the experience to play Chun in the best way to land that, or have the execution to do a Yun genei jin combo and even if they do manage to land it, the match is far from over, they need to repeat those several times in order to win in most cases. Whereas in SF4 or Marvel, sometimes just mashing that ultra out at an unexpected time or activating that x-factor into basic combo is all that's needed, just one can end the match. On the other hand, when I play someone good at 3S or CVS, I get BLOWN UP.
I've read countless posts on how people despised Capcom's comeback mechanics at the time of SF4 and Marvel's release, now that SFXT is out and it doesn't really have one, people are complaining that one wasn't really included and that it needs it.
@Max I could give two turds about this game. It sucks in it's present state. (there are worse games out there.) What ever capcom "claims" they are going to revise they need to be doing it ASAP. They didn't notice the clock issue? The videos imo are boring for this game IMO. I have the platinum trophy and am done with it. (i don't enjoy games a broken as in not polished state, unless they are fun. SfxT was FUN. KEY word WAS. the issues ruined it. imo the gems were a bad idea and the pandora should have been, been fixed. When they fix it if its soon ill give it a try. if its next year or some bs then no. if they have fixed some things they need to patch that and get back to work. don't "save up all fixes" for a mega patch. fix as you go. like i tell people when there broke, "Get on your hustle!" Get to work CAPCOM. Show and prove. Combo vids are nothing. Desk stuff is cool. If you like this game play it. if you don't don't. Just don't tell me why I don't like it "anymore" justin wong like it so and so like it. So What! i use to like it but it "played out" which is a shame IMO. Is this why seth left capcom. Im not even trippen bout the money spent. Just didn't get jo jo bizare and we even. (i got it off game share lol) Keep makin vids Max there are some people that LOVE this game and i don't want to piss on their parade!
