BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma will definitely hit arcades in 2012, details about console version's story mode The arcade release of Blazblue Chrono Phantasma is set for the Winter of 2012. Andriasang posted an article today stating that producer Toshimichi Mori has assured players the game will be playable in arcades by the end of this year.

Mori also mentioned that a second location test will be held as soon as they have made adjustments to the current build. It is possible that this location test could come as early as this month.

Andrisang's article also gave a bit of information about the console version's story mode. Below is a piece from their post regarding Blazblue Chrono Phantasma's story.

Mori also discussed the game's story. Chrono Phantasma will continue the story from Extend, so he suggested that players go back and play through Extend leading up to release.

Regarding the home version (currently confirmed just for PlayStation 3), Mori said that this is currently just in the planning stage. Rather than individual stories for each character, they're planning on having three main stories. In the end, the three stories will come together and show the true ending. You will be able to switch characters as you advance through the story.

Don't care about arcade releases.
And they better hope they have more than the 3 characters if they want to be taken seriously.
We don't need countless updates of the game because they want to run a DLC scam on Capcom's level.

Good to hear I will buy this game no matter what because the online play is just amazing and I love BB series. So no need to buy P4A even if we have at least 7 months until the game release.

Aksys should just abandon the Blazblue series and start working on a P4A update...

Blazblue is okay, Persona 4 Arena is Godlike.

Man, I love BB, but playing P4A has made me realize just how slow BB is....I hope they speed BBCP up a bit.

yeah...I'll give this game a rental for a fair shot since i read promising stuff of changes, but BB series gave me the weakest impression gameplay wise compared to GG and P4A. Me not liking the BB aesthetics doesn't help either with that

Lol two ignorant statements in one post...congrats.

I suppose the game speed could be tweaked but it should be optional but not strictly for the sake of keeping up with a different game from the same company. Bang's Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan is one of the supplemental Distortions that should remain faster than the overall game speed.

@11 It's just a personal preference. It's a bit difficult for me to switch between P4A and BBCSEX because BB is so much slower, so sometimes my inputs don't come because I do them too quickly, not realizing it isn't P4A or Marvel, guess I just gotta train myself to get back used to it.

This is actually a summary of an interview done with Famitsu. Dustloop has translated it in the linked thread. (scroll down some, it'll be a series of numbered links)

http://www.famitsu.com/news/201208/13...
http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showth...

Here's a rundown:

-Japanese arcade release confirmed for Winter 2012.
-Game will be at TGS in September.
-There will be another loketest, but a date has not been decided on.
-Still no mention of an Xbox release.

-There will only be 3 story modes + a True Ending. You switch between several characters throughout each story as opposed to just playing as one throughout and all three stories are interconnected.
-Each story has a different boss.
-Bullet is based off of a beta design for Tager. Her drive is what Tager's was originally going to be.
-Amane was Tomokazu Sugita's (Ragna's JP VA) idea.
-Amane plays some sort of role in Rachel's plans.
-The Six Heroes and Sector Seven are both central parts of the plot. The Six Heroes subplot will be concluded in this game.
-Arakune speaks in coherent sentences now.
-Bullet and Azrael were both specifically created to have a major impact on the plot.
-Azrael was created as a character that actually has a reason to be fighting the entire cast.
-Azrael has a "deep relation" with both Tager and Kokonoe.
-Bang will play an extremely important role in the story.
-Chronofantasma means "the illusion of time."
-CP was originally intended to be the last game in the series, but they're having trouble wrapping up the plot and he mentioned that it probably won't be.

-The old characters all had their themes remixed. He noted that MOTOR HEAD, for instance, has a totally different feel to it.
-All voice clips have been rerecorded.
-There are currently about 12 stages. The only stage from previous games is Rachel's.
-Jin does not have a new outfit because he's not the kind of character who cares too much about what he's wearing.

-The console version will have a CS-like tutorial and an Abyss-like mode. Other features are still in the planning stages.

-Mu and Lambda are confirmed to not be playable... but he did mention that both would be in story mode...
-There is a currently-unannounced boss character.
-Of the three new characters, Amane is the most difficult to play. Bullet is the easiest.
-Amane's drill do lots of chip damage. (Mori mentioned that Amane cares more about dealing chip than anyone else.) He also cares more about hit-confirms than other characters.
-Azrael is slow and while his gameplay is intended to revolve around his Drive, he can still fight well without it. Mori compared him to Hakumen in terms of gameplay.
-Bullet's Drive throws are strike throws. (IE, they're blockable grabs that can be comboed into ala KoF)
-Overdrive is intended to be the offensive equivalent to Bursts. He noted that matches tend to end quickly once someone activates OD.
-Devoured By Darkness isn't the only super move that's better in Overdrive...
-Noel has a new Astral.
-Combos are shorter in this one as per fan request. Fans also complained that the game was too slow, so matches are supposed to be faster now.
-He dropped a hint (and nothing more) that Saya might be playable in the console version. This is not a confirmation!
-Some characters have been given more drastic changes than others. As an example, he mentioned that Ragna is mostly intact from Extend, but Jin and Arakune have both received extensive changes.
-On that note, he mentioned that they're trying to limit Arakune's Curse more.
-Stylish Mode is being reworked. He specifically mentioned P4U here...

@14
Thanks for the info. Nothing seems too unexpected so far and it's interesting to know Bullet was based off an old design for Tager.

I don't think I'm going to be buying this one this time.

To spend 40 on a 3 new characters and some changes to the characters/game when I just spent the same amount for the same thing about a month ago. :(

I like BB, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

This is an arcade release people, heck it might come out at the end of this year on arcades but the console version won't see it for atleast Summer next year.

Then there is the new characters that will be added, like Mu they will probably added console characters and then patch them in to the arcade. I mean Saya, Kokonoe, Jubei and Nine/Phantom have been the most requested characters for so freaking long, it would be stupid on Mori's part not to atleast add two of them.
