Two major tournaments are taking place this weekend. MLG is hosting their Summer Fighter Arena, which is an invite only event with many of the top players in Soul Calibur 5 and Mortal Kombat 9 facing off for $6,800 in cash prizes.
Capcom is also hosting the next leg of their Street Fighter 25th anniversary tournament in New York, New York, which will be running SSF4 AE v2012, SFxT, SF3 3s and SSF2T HDR.

MLG Summer Fighter Arena

The run down: The
MLG Summer Fighter Arena will take place on August 10 at 4 p.m. EDT to 12 a.m. EDT. $3,400 will be up for grabs in each game, Mortal Kombat 9 and Soul Calibur 5. This is an invite only event, limited to only a handful of the best players in each game. This is being ran on PlayStation 3 systems.

Who's expected to show: NSydia|Keev, Kayane, EMP|Perfect Legend, Pig of the Hut, EGP|Tyrant, REO, Hawkeye and more.

Who to look out for: Keev and Kayane have been consistently strong in Soul Calibur 5 lately, consistently vying for top placements in many tournaments. Hawkeye took top honors in the
previous fighter arena so he's another player to be on the lookout for.
Switching gears to MK9, EMP|Perfect Legend comes in very hot off of his second consecutive win at EVO 2012, but he'll be challenged by other EVO top 8 finishers, Pig of the Hut (3rd place) and EGP|Tyrant (7th place).

Streaming duties and details: MLG will be offering two streams for this tournament. The main gameplay stream, and then a Dr Pepper Ultimate Access stream with behind the scenes coverage and interviews through the event. DMG|Juicebox Abel, EMP|Tom Brady, Bibulus and coL.cc|Gootecks will be providing commentary and handling hosting duties.
25th Anniversary Street Fighter Tournament - New York City

The run down: The next leg of the
25th anniversary series of Street Fighter tournaments kicks off in New York City, NY, August 11-12, 2012. The official start time is 10 a.m. EDT, but the venue opens at 8 a.m.

Who's expected to show: Capcom doesn't have a public registration list, but many of the top players on the east coast are expected to attend.

Streaming duties: iPlayWinner X Team Spooky is the official stream team for the 25th anniversary series, and will be bringing the action home to viewers via Capcom Unity's
TwitchTV page.
