I am hearing that the AE last chance qualifiers have been a joke so far.

Cabinets are slowing down, malfunctioning, and even freezing.
There is intense glare on the screens to the point where you can't even see lifebars.

It seems they have a lot of issues like rain or the glare on screens lol, and they also have a lot of lag and sometimes freezes.

@#1 Yeah, if LCQ are that bad I can't imagine the actual tourney being any better.
Makes you wonder if they even tested the setups before the tourney, or if it's just a case of not having any other choice.

I read that Wongs team couldn't qualify the lost in the first round due to the cab situation and they couldn't do anything about it. Ryan Hart recorded that match in which when Mike Ross played the cab slowed the hell down also complaints of glare due to the sun making it hard to see *slow clap*.

@Boshy well all time I can't say I don't know of the other SBO events and there history so for know PZ takes it.

And I laugh, here is proof of an arcade cabinet lagging. Thank you Tougeki.
When I rated my SSF4 experience as X360->PC->Arcade->PS3, people thought I was tripping, saying that arcade cabs can never lag.
I wish I could watch the stream, I currently have extremely horrid net.

Grimmjow316 said on August 3, 2012 at 7:57 p.m.

The cabs are lagging because they didn't check them after moving them outside so it's more fail of the organizers not checking if anything was faulty.

The arcade input timing is actually the same as the PS3's, 360's is actually the one that is "off" if you use arcade as standard, but people just use that to dog on PS3 since there are more 360 owners in US I guess.

There was a youtube input lag test vid for PS3 vs 360 using a madcatz stick which fueled the console wars, but there was another Japanese vid on Nicovideo testing Hori RAP vs Madcatz TE and there was lag on Madcatz.

I remember last year Japanese players at EVO also reported the lag on different stations are different due to maybe capturing equipment.

So there are many factors on "lag" but as players maybe we should just train our muscle memory to the the same input timing for our combos? For these "pro" players maybe it's a better idea to train on different stations/settings if they want to win so badly.

PS: I'm not trying to defend SBO for how badly they are running it btw, just thought I throw some real info out there

spotlesseden said on August 3, 2012 at 8:28 p.m.

@JustSTFU

yeah, you are right about PS3 vs 360. People tested it, 360 is the faster version than ps3 and arcade.

But tournament lag issue is on the tournament organizer. SBO is messed it up, they should test it. I guess SBO is dead after this year, they don't give a damn,

people shouldn't complain about evo's lag. There is no capture device off stream. They know evo uses ps3 like 8-9 months before the tournament. If they don't practice on PS3, that's on them.

Arcade is not the same as PS3.
Arcade is in-between Xbox360 and PS3, with Xbox being the fastest.
This is according to Latif, and I've heard many people say the same.

If it was the same as PS3 the Japanese wouldn't be using Xbox for their Offline tournaments.

urien said on August 3, 2012 at 9:21 p.m.

it depends on persons.i personnally think that if youre not a plinker ,the worst version is the arcade one.i cant manage to punish jumpins and drop combos frequently.for xbox everything smooth, and for ps3 its damn unplayable unless you are a plinker.
i have the three version .for SBO haters stay free,SBO wan never about money ,but about pure skill.and frankly nobody think usa will win anything, but the opportunity to play the best players in the world.the two weeks in japan arcade is more worthy than 10 years in xboxlive.
mark my word, latif ,dieminion and pr balrog will be unbeatable...
im sure they will bring alot of OS,mindgame and pure new beautiful things.

@18
You read US forums where people play on 360 and dog on PS3 every chance they get, I read Japanese forums where people play in the arcades and the argument was settle long ago way back in Vanilla.
I played in many different cabinets and PS3 during Vanilla when I was staying in Japan, I know my experience.
Latif, well you can dickride him and I'm not a famous player so I can't argue with that.

This is just gonna end up to be another stupid pointless argument of who's got a better E-dick so I'm just gonna end with what I know for sure and not what other people said.

I still goto different gatherings and play on both 360s PS3s.
The truth is after a little play time you just adapt cuz your muscle already memorized the timing for links and combos. The difference when you push the button or start that sequence is so small that your body just adapts naturally after a while, cuz that's just what humans do.
Some people are gonna complain (Not saying this SBO situation) when they lose anyway and blame it on whatever they can. But tried and true on both systems they will lose and drop combos, miss opportunities etc all the same.

Anyway, originally posted cuz I was guessing maybe it was the arcade/360 timing difference, but from reading more news seems like there are really slow down and freezes. The other teams have to deal w/ the same bad situations too though, just sayin.

@#21 By many people, I mean top Japanese players.
Tokido, Kazunoko, Daigo, etc. all say this.
There's a reason Daigo plays on nothing but PS3 2 weeks before EVO to get used to the PS3 timing difference.

Man between all the red tape you have to go through and the lack of options for people outside of Japan to watch it even if they're willing to pay, and this it does seem like the logical conclusion is SBO is trying to kill itself. Kind of a drag.

You know, this is the ONLY thing that's ever required 3D Secure off of a credit card to buy that I've ever come across in all these years. I even have to completely explain what it is to my bank since they've never heard of it, same as last year. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Stupid nicovideo.

@21 I agree 100%. imo i think it all depends on what you are most accustomed to playing on.honestly i have absolutely no problems playing on a ps3,while it isnt as fast as 360 imo theres not THAT much of a difference between the two, thats just me though.i say just stick to what you are most comfortable with.

Not that it really matters but the some team names for SSF4AE are wrong:

"Team Ahh" with Kawaguchi/Kuroken/Y should be "Team PuruPuru"
Momochi/Haitani/Uryo's team name is not "Team Topanga", it is Team "Koduck Army with Uryo"
And to be grammar police Team Win should be Team "Always Wants to Win"

Puru Puru means "jiggly"
Koduck/Kodak/コダック is the Japanese name for Psyduck from Pokemon (or Kodak the film brand which the pokemon's name was played off of)

Didn't happen. Review the news stories about it on this very site. One guy filmed some YouTube with himself pressing the buttons manually and claimed that was definitive. Mechanical means of testing for input lag have failed to show any.

And this is for SSF4, i wanna see a 10v10 in 3rd strike, blazblue or tekken... Japan > USA and this will stay like this because of the arcade play. Deal with it.

USA has definitely leveled up a lot in AE. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial. Even the top Japanese players say that the top US players are in the same level.
The difference is that you can count the best US players with your hands, but there's at least 50 Japanese killers.

With all that said, US c*cksuckers blame it on one-game format, but a loss is a loss. Accept and move on.

lol where were the japs at evo? there was only a handful that went and the majority of them made top 24, despite there being over 1,000 USA players, and oh this year once again USA fails to make top 8 like they always fail every single year lol
SBO has had single elimination since it started, and only you 09'ers complain about it because you're so used to the stupid double elimination that US tournaments do. Whats wrong with single elimination anyways? You get mad because a team is eliminated when they lose huh? Guess what? DONT LOSE and you win, its simple...if you lose then thats it, you're out and shouldnt be allowed a 2nd chance aka double elimination. Dont like the PPV? Then go to Japan and watch it, you yanks cant have everything your way.

Japs always won Street Fighter games in EVO since 2003 (or SFIV game since 2009) except 2012 and 2012 is the first time USA passed 1st ROUND in SBO for SFIV but some 09'ers here still blaming on sinlge elim rules and keep saying US reached Japs level.

You guys keep pointing at SBO'issues like the sun, the cabinet, Banana Ken, blah blah, blah,... to defend your losses while ignoring that PS3 at EVO is the biggest joke ever.

I'm not defending anyone, just want to say that some people talk too much and never accept their lost.

Team USA did extremely well today, sadly there are tons of idiot behind them.

Japanese at EVO are often eliminated by Japanese or other Asians at EVO. Daigo lost to Infil and Xia-whatever. Sako lost to Kindevu and Fuudo i believe. The list goes on.

That being said, at a fist fight, bring your fists, and at a knife fight, bring your knife. Another words, if you know it's one-and-done, play that way. In double-elims 2/3, play that way - no excuses. One could say 2/3 is too short (like Ryan Hart said once). No point in arguing format - it comes down to WIN or LOSE.

I do believe Infil's Akuma was impressive at EVO but you'd be a rider to say he's better than Eita, Tokido, or -6 based off of a few weeks of level up. I'd definitely put him in the mix, but i'd like to see some extended matchups from him. and YES, i know he blew up Poonkgo for free in the recent tourney - impressive.

Arcade cabinets have 2 frames of lag so doesn't that mean the game should have 2 frames of lag. Well, PS3 has 2 frames of lag so PS3 being at EVO is great. If you're a great player you should be able to play on either console and not just bitch about it. The best players of each game still won.

You make it sound like Infiltration has not been looking amazing at this game for the last few months with Akuma. I predicted him to take EVO and I'm probably in the majority. A lot of people had him pegged. The Japanese had not been dominating the Americans in AE this year the way Infiltration has. There's no doubt in my mind, the best man won EVO in AE 2012. You could run EVO all over again with the same guys and I'd bet Infiltration would probably take it again. If Tokido was better, he would have won. Plain and simple.

"You'd be a rider to say he's better than Eita, Tokido, or -6 based off of a few weeks of level up"

You're joking right? Besides Tokido what have the other two ever won? And saying Infiltration has only improved his game just recently is pure bs. The guy has been consistently winning tournament after tournament for almost a year now. Don't get me wrong, the rest are all extremely good players as well, but Infiltration has the full package. Vortex set ups, Demon set ups, footsies, relentless offense, solid defense, and amazing reads. Tokido lacks footsies, -6 has pretty bad defense, and Eita plays very risky guess games.

@73 Seeing everything just black or white might be easier but in reality tournaments placings do not truly show who´s the better player. Sure, most of the times the ones that get to be on the grand finals are very good but since there´s randomness involved on who you fight against in the brackets, they should always be taken whit a grain of salt.

For Example: Player A, B and C are the best players in a tournament. Player A is better than B and B is better than C. Due to this random factor, player B is going against player A in the first part of the bracket so player B is eliminated if its single elimination (at this point i know many eventhubs posters would start saying player B is wash up/should retire) or is send to the losers brackets if its double elimination. Then player B faces player G. Player B should beat player G but since Player B uses T.Hawk and Player G uses Blanka, Player B is eliminated.

What exactly is your point? Everybody knows your dopey example, a 4 year old figures out this logic. I never said "The best man always wins a tournament." I said "There's no doubt in my mind, the best man won EVO in AE 2012. You could run EVO all over again with the same guys and I'd bet Infiltration would probably take it again."

In THAT tournament, I have no doubt, Infiltration was the best man there. His play has been so tight and flawless, perfect spacing, timing, and OS's.

The Japanese favoritism is strong among American stream monsters, but the skill gap is not what it was. I think they're still better, but not by much. Infiltration, however, is on another level right now.

I think anyone can win at any time at that level, especially when both players are rocking vortex type characters that can turn it all around with one knock down.

I just think it's nuts to insist that -6, Eita, and Tokido are better Akuma's at this point. In a major tournament with lots of different matches and double elimination (where you can't run into one dude who has a favorable matchup against your character and takes you out), I just don't see any of those guys doing what Infiltration is doing right now. I mean, he didn't drop a single match from Top 16 to Finals. 3-0'd Gamerbee. 2-0'd Eduardo. obliterated Daigo 2-0, 2-0'd Dieminion, 2-0'd iPeru.

Tokido came out of pools in losers dropping to a Canadian and then lost to Mago (didn't even make Top 32 I think). Eita didn't even survive his pool and the people who eliminated him were not Japanese as lots of Japanese favoritists like to claim happens at these tournaments.

EVO isn't everything, but those showings say a lot.

@73 lol You must be one of those "look look! I told you so" boys. First of all, Yes, he put on the best performance at the tourney. I'm glad he won. THat being said, WHICH tourneys has he been winning?? Are you saying he traveled to Japan and won a few tourneys? Or Shadowloo- where Eita won?? Gimme a break. The players were concentrating against other players and counted him out - Daigo mentioned PrRog. Rog mentioned Daigo. Like Fuudo the previous year - no one tagged him. Now, he's tagged.

My thing about being one of the best is, Can you keep it up even though you're tagged? Tokido has. Eita and -6 have. Can Infil keep it up once his style is studied (focus-dash-attack)? That's what I'm saying.

Back to SBO... if US don't get Marvel, let the salt pour down. lol I hope they do though. It'd legitimize the SBO. Otherwise, SBO would be known as a crapshoot.

WTF is this "tagged" stuff? Are you saying people don't know how good he is? Did you see how salty Rog was when he got blown up in the Season's Beatings Grand Finals? Somehow, I don't think Rog forgot that, and I don't think anyone else did either.

If you're in top 16 at AE 2012 at EVO in WINNERS, you're "tagged" and players are going to do their best to beat you. Nobody underestimated Infiltration. Like I said, A LOT of people picked him to win. And it wasn't an "I told you so" moment because, again, I think I was in the MAJORITY. I heard more people predicting him than anyone else.

I don't think anything can truly legitimize SBO until they do double elims and start doing worthwhile streams. Last year's was god awful, and I'd bet this year's is no different. Some of the pictures coming out of Japan of what those cabinets look like and the shape they're in, it's not good. They would never do this, but switching to console, going double elim, and maybe having someone like Spooky do the stream would go a long way for them and they're small fixes.

wow @ all of you complaining, you do know that everyone was affected by these problems and not just the US players right? oh but wait, this is a chance to turn our attention away from another sub-par performance, im sure the Japanese players weren't happy about it either but dealt with it and what happened, the team that was the favorite actually won

yes the tourney was badly put together, but that's what happens when community members are not involved, even MLG was a mess before they recruited some FGC members, SBO organizers are obviously too stubborn, but to all of you talking about quality, SBO is just that in terms of level of play, the tourney has the highest level and that's why players go there regardless of how bad the tourney is run, no one forces players to go to the tourney, and yes the single elim format is harsh but hey, everyone knows what they signed up for, same goes for those who complain about EVO being on PS3 when everyone knows what it is

#87 to say everyone was affected by these conditions doesnt make a difference. it doesnt make the results fair. The truth is no 1 will play or take a game serious under these conditions, but when it happens to be 1 of the biggest gaming majors, what can you do? The players will be severely handicapped, YES all of them, but you can't take the results seriously as this is a different bug infested game they are playing.

with that sad i havent read much on what exactly is wrong at SBO, but FROM WHAT I KNOW, you might aswell discard the tourny this year. or consider it an online tourny
