Can't help but feel all those c*nts that called sp00ky a sellout finally got to him. Asswipes. His absence would definitely be felt, and all the best to him in the future. I felt bad when Seb quit streaming and joined MLG, but this is a lot worse of a case

A sad day in the FGC, one of the best and reliable streamers around. I always enjoyed spooky because he had a "say it as it is kind of attitude" with his commentary and personality in general!

I can't say I'm too surprised though, being in the FGC and not being sponsored particularly if you're a pro gamer isn't really a viable or feasible way of living, it was bound to happen sooner or later, look at Gootecks?

(Drama, Lack of Enjoyment....Esports lol jk) I guess all we have left is UltraChen, and Mike Ross to entertain the masses. On a good note though, we still have Level Up (WNF,The Runback) which is considered by some to be the better stream. Good luck Spooky, you will be missed.

Wow, that is sad. Hopefully it was just only his own desires and not something like a lack of funding for his services. It seemed like something he would have loved to do for a living, but perhaps either he's just burned out or the compensation just wasn't there for how much traveling/time spent doing this work.

Can anybody else honestly think of anything more appropriate to say right now than a few hundred F bombs? Because that's honestly all I've got.

Spooky is an Invaluable asset to the FGC. Without him we wouldn't have the available, high quality streams that has lead to the FGC being the size it is today. We can only hope someone will step up to the plate that is as good as Spooky. Much respect, and I hope he is happy with whatever he decides to do next.

On a personal level; Vic, you are seriously the man who has stuck his neck out for the FGC the most these past couple of years. From the times we were playing Melty in your basement while you fiddled with stream settings when your streams were just in their infant stage, to you coming out to help the Anime game community get their faces out there and contributing to MBAA getting a spot at EVO. You already know. See you when I get back the the US brotha.

Truly this is a sad day.

Spooky is one of they guys who put in the most time and the most effort. Sure its good to be the guy winning tourneys and getting all the plaudits but without people like spooky we wouldnt have seen half of it.

He set the bar for the world in quality for streams. I can only hope he comes back after a break from the fgc being as active as he has been can only wear you out and shake your love for what your doing.

tbh i kinda think streaming should be ppv now so that guys like spooky dont have to live in poverty.

He's had a incredible streaming run thus far. I'm sure he'll still be involved in the FGC somehow. He's become so godlike at streaming that everyone wants him to do their event and it can be taxing on the mind/body to be constantly traveling and maintaining a stream on low sleep. Add to that the monsters constantly complaining about him "selling out" and the stream not being good etc etc.

Man, he'll be setting everyone free after EVO... including himself.

Spooky, PLEASE reconsider! Fgc without spooky is like..... apple pie without apples... or something :S. Ether way, we're all going to miss being "set Free" and spaming advice to call you when other's are having trouble with there streams. You man practically invented tournament streaming, stream monstering, and other STAPLES of the fgc. HUGE loss, we'll miss you alot.

Does anyone else has a feeling this is all twitch's fault? Spooky's quality at Own3d.tv was much better than what he was able to provide previously at twitch, yet his numbers went down greatly since the switch. It seems that the FGC has become too dependent on twitch.tv, an extremely disturbing though when that place is run by people who has an extremely low opinion of the FGC but were forced to tolerate us because we bring business to them.

Not even going to sugar coat this sh!t. Spooky leaving will leave a huge hole in the fighting game community. I know people who don't give a damn about fighting games or tournaments and still tune in to watch Spooky's streams because of the high quality picture, commentary, and of course high quality play. I understand that sometimes things don't go as planned but I really hope you reconsider Spooky. There are other streams, and then there are Team Spooky streams. They make you feel like apart of the community, something that other streams just can't figure out. It's not about being professional, it's not about being 'e-Sports'... it's about being a part of the community and knowing what the community wants to see. Spooky understood that better then most everyone... and taking that away will be hard to get back.

If Level up is the next to go it becomes a fgc recession, ten more years of life support. Unless esports up there game by allot.

I think Spooky is single-handedly why fighting games are what they are currently. Dude is amazing and the nicest guy ever in person. If it was about not getting respect or enough money, let it be known that I <3 Spooky and he can take my wallet and do whatever he wants with it.

And yes this probably has something to do with Twitch and that fallout. Spooky said on stream he is getting far less viewers and making far less money by streaming on own3d.tv, however the quality of streaming has increased tremendously. On Twitch, I could never watch a stream on anything but 240p, and on Own3d I don't ever have to watch a stream on anything other then 'best quality'. There is no lag and no dropped frames, unfortunately there are no viewers. People are too dependent on being able to spam Kappa and DansGames to properly support the person who made this all possible.

Years of doing a labor of love that doesn't seem to return as much back can cause one to burn out over time. I jumped into the Civil War stream at the tail end of the announcement, and Spooky sounded pretty steamed about it. And rightfully so:

- The constant tech problems at venues (especially when the places he travels to have low-tier internet).
- The amount of travel.
- The long hours behind the desk, which are even longer when tourneys are behind schedule.
- The refusal of stream monsters adapting to change and following his switch from Twitch to Own3d. (Can't believe so many people can't figure out IRC)
- Not being able to enjoy these events as a attendee (save for NCR where iPlayWinner did the heavy lifting stream-wise).
- Low-pay & little financial reward for all the work involved.

...and I'm sure there are many other reasons. This news was heartbreaking to hear, but with all the drama in the FGC recently, not surprising. TeamSpooky is the very group that got me into watching streams in the first place, when SF4 hit consoles. His hard work has brought us countless classic moments at numerous majors, not to mention, brought all the East Coast personalities in the FGC into our homes during Big Two & Guard Crush. Victor does this all, and never charged us a cent, yet I'm sure he spent much money out of pocket (as well as generous donations from viewers like some posting here) to evolve his craft into the excellent streaming he provides for us now.

My undying thanks go out to Mr. Victor Font and if he goes through with his retirement, I have nothing but the utmost respect for his dedication and what's he's accomplished. He deserves the time off, and I hope when Evo Season starts up again, he might consider coming back or being involved some way in streaming.

Spooky is the best and he has risen the quality of the streams to a very high level. I'm new to the FGC so probably streams are older than I remember but before Spooky streams were pretty bad. After saw several of his streams I told my friends "this guy streams are the best! he must stream EVO!" after that I even joined several chats and supported the idea that Spooky was the right person to stream EVO. I was so happy when they announce that spooky were going to stream EVO and more happy to see that Spooky was very happy and Arturo said "We began this in a basement and now he is going to stream EVO".

Spooky will always be the best! Thanks for all the good streams!.

I always made a note to watch events streamed by Spooky because I knew he'd wring the best possible quality out of it. Really, really sucks that he's not going to be doing it anymore--especially after finding out he's going to stream Evo. And this comes just after Gootecks' departure from the scene as well...damn shame.
