Why would they put up the Genesis version, and not their own SNES version? Unless the SNES version is already up and I just don't know about it?
All right, I just looked up their site. They did put up the SNES version of SSF2 at some earlier point. That's kinda nice of them to offer both versions of Super 2.
They made this ONLINE?! WOO!!
Time to blow the dust off the ol WII!
Can someone please CONFIRM they got this and it HAS ONLINE PLAY?
Anyone know if you can use a PS3 or Xbox pad on a Wii?
@11 wait, Smash 64 is in the vitual console!? Wow, I'm really missing out on the Wii. Anyway great news
Oh holy crap yes. I just need my Classic Controller back and it's time for some Nintendo!
@17 - lies, the cube controller is the best way to go for... well, pretty much any Smash. XD
I kid. I did download Smash 64 IIRC, but yeah, it's hard for me to play it over the later games. Still a classic though.
On topic, I'm amazed that there's a Wii VC game with online added, wtf. Rare footage of Nintendo online actually being used on a VC game?
Though I do wish they'd done this to the SNES version as well. >.>
You have to be a serious hardcore Nintendo fan boy that lives in a vacuum to purchase this game. There are currently multiple versions of this game that are superior with online functionality and a larger online community to play with than this inferior version.
so tired of the inb4's ur just assumeing someones gunna hate seriously when u assume u make an ass out u and me
@13
Its not, the lag just doesn't hurt as much as would in a FPS or Fighting Game; still, Mario Kart Wii FTW ^_^
I freakin LOVE playing that online!!
I'm realy considering buying this, played it a lot on my friends genesis (of course I had the superior SNES version :P)
The Genesis version of Super Street Fighter II did in fact have an online, through the use of X-Band.
I loved the Genesis version of this game. I owned it when I was young. It was awesome and now that it has online, it's even better.
Although Genesis version had more features, the sound and colors, and missing background elements was a turn off. I owned it, still good though, but prefer snes version.
In case you lot didn't know, the SNES version of SSF2 was released years before the Mega Drive version and the SNES SSF2 (as well as other versions of SF2) doesn't have an online mode. Mega Drive version of SSF2 is the first virtual console game to have an online play. It would've been better if the SNES version had an online mode though.
Did anybody buy this and can they confirm if it sounds as awful as every Genesis game did? I'm just curious if it's an exact port of the game or if they re-did the sound (the Genesis had horrible sound processing for those who weren't around for that era).
Anyone still wondering about this. Sound is still just as bad as the Genesis version. The lag is pretty bad when it's bad. But I managed to get one set in with someone that had a decent connection. Pretty much takes forever to find anyone to play though. Should probably make a friends list with anyone else that has bought this.
