lol really¿! Must be for some crazy reason. Watching the video now.
someone put the call out- this is a job for Ultra David@
Aw crud. I didn't see this coming. Be strong Spooky and I hope that you get your stuff soon or better yet, get new video equipment.
#13 said it best.
this is.... OPPRESSION.
Why not just go back to having Kings and Feudal Lords since the government can just do whatever they want to whomever they want.
Homeland Security is the exact same. To them we are all just serfs and peasants.
Is the government f--king retarded? How about they solve all of the other problems going on instead of confiscating sh-t from civilians? Is that their number one priority? Homeland Security, F--k you.
Homeland security ! Fighting game streams...in A-ME-RI-CA. Someone's been smoking serious $#!t, what's next weapons of mass destruction in Team Spooky's basement !
One of the best things we can all do is write / email our senators and congressmen about this and continue to show them first hand how crap like the Patriot Act and HLS is screwing up our society. Most politicians in Washington are slime but a few truly care and listen, and it only takes a few minutes of your time to do.
It is because of that stupid fraud Jaha and his non stop spamming based swag bull sh*t wannabe thug.
Jaha should be banned from the community from now on !!
#9: "America is not free"? ROFL... you didn't know?
You pay more taxes than the rich people, and (Millionaire) senators, mostly republicans, want more tax cut on millionaire to "create more jobs".
American people get arrested for having opinions on internet.
Heard of "Georgia work$"? It is a program to get you to work for free.
Right now, republicans are trying to pass a bill to remove the minimum wages... in order to pay you even less than $7.
And worse of all, Obama is signing everything like a dog =(
Seriously, at the moment, we lack info to make up an opinion... but it definitely sucks.
Apparently this is extremely common and standard practice for anyone returning across the border with any electronics. Do a quick search and you'll see tons of results. It's a huge waste of time and manpower to do a blanket search on absolutely everything. Other than the legal standing of probable cause, there is the practical element of having way too much data -_-
Man, this is ridiculous.
I've been following the fighting scene thanks to great guys like Spooky, because I can't travel around and I don't even live in the US, so it really annoys me that a guy who work so hard for the scene has his tools of trade seized like that "FOR NO REASON"...
Because no matter what they say (as if they'd say anything!), it was for no reason for me, damn.
I dont think this is Udavids area tbh hes mostly into copy right. If i were american id be kinda pissed that people are getting stuff seized and not returned. Theres another name for that theft.
@#27
If only that would work. There are no politicians who are good people. The second they start being politicians, they stop being people. They're a cancer upon American society - reaping all of the benefits, doing little actual work, and oppressing those they have been charged with representing. The politicians are what is wrong with this country.
To be quite honest, I'm more terrorized of US politicians than I've ever been of Al Quaeda or any other terrorist group.
#38 This is wrong, but what made you think people would go as far to call it Nazism or fascism?
@45
Cause its not like eh to be as levelheaded as they are being
america has been terrorizing its own country ever since 9/11. al qaeda at least claims allah as its reason for their actions. can't say as much for america. oil? seems too obvious of an excuse. freedom?? as if al qaeda could ever take that away.
it's like when a school bully gets humiliated publicly on the playground, he'll viciously come after each and every single one of you just to reinstate his role as an impenetrable force that feeds on fear. yup. ah, america. just like bullies, america will be NOTHING when high school is over.
how does it feel to be the youngest country?
@yes4me
well going by what you're saying really proves what I said about the US health service "Land of only those who can afford to live there" and with their gun crazy ownership laws "And the home of the not as brave as they like to think or have you believe"
But yea thats lame as hell! so much for going after the real bad guys
If you guys actually do support spooky you can donate here
Actually under the Patriot Act what HLS did to Spooky is 100% legal. The Patriot Act makes it so agencies like HLS can detain people, items, pretty much whatever they want without a warrant and merely on the basis of suspicion.
Sorry to say to Spooky: civil rights have nothing to do with this situation. It's all about a bill which was introduced by George W. Bush (and extended by Obama) that monitors and restricts ALL citizen's rights in this country.
@48 zombiebrian
well, i mean, isn't the dept of homeland security confiscating property beCAUSE of 9/11? you were allowed to bring a bottle of water before then, right? i'm just saying that the dept of homeland security is over-reacting. what connection is there between sp00ky's streaming equipment and terrorism? don't they even conduct interviews with the accused anymore before they steal your sht?

Oh, 4chan... I wonder if we should call upon the masses for raw pressure now. heh o_o
The paper most likely states that the property is his and they are simply "revising" it. So their is nothing spooky can do, they will return it to him. But unfortunately they don't return it. Government jobs like state-border patrol have really bad follow through and are the systems are devised to reward low moral ethics.
They won't send the stuff back, and they won't even start reviewing it ever. If Sp00ky calls them on the status of it, they will simply say that its still in review and to wait, or call some other turdhole who will say the same thing.
@trannypolicefu
hahaha that sounds crazy! Very much like a "Dude! What the **** is this ****!" moment right there lol

I'm not saying Spooky did anything wrong here, but isn't it possible that maybe he accidentally caught something on camera that might be important to national security? I'm not gonna sit here with almost no information and act like I KNOW for a fact the government took his equipment for no reason. Maybe someone at EVO was a terrorist casing the event to blow it up next year and Spooky accidentally caught him on camera.
Who knows? Certainly not any of you. I understand this sucks for Spooky and I can sympathize with him obviously, but it's possible that they took it for a reason based on a single person he may have filmed for a couple seconds at a large event.
@ 64
that was a hacker. it wasnt a joke of spookys or anything like that. they took care of it though.
The USA allows people to have guns, but comes down heavy on gambling , as anyone who has followed the full tilt poker debacle since black Friday will be fully aware of. Now I see this BS has happened to spooky, WTF? What is up with the American law system? I am no expert but it just seems completely irrational.
my bad this happened in canada, didnt catch that from reading the intro.
@81 Just a person of interest. Doesn't even have to be a terrorist, could just be someone who knows a terrorist or has had contact with one, whether they know it or not. There's literally a million possible reasons why they may have taken it.
I just have to say that the PSN SF3oe Update is making things worse!! Ive never had a match in slow motion/ frame skipping before!
Uhh now the gamers are mad because they dont get streams anymore. Its your own fault for not fighting the patriot act in the first place. If people would have thought about what that deam thing means in the first place it wouldnt be like this. Anything else then burning cars on the streets would have been unexaptable for a political move like that. Yeah, start to think about politics when it bites you in the backside, but not a second earlier.
THAT IS SO F-CKED UP.
Nice Amerikuh. This is how you combat terrorism. FU HOMELAND SECURITY.
UltraDavid help!
@87 I don't think DHS would go through the countless hours of footage spooky had while he was a the border. I think what probably happened was that they were suspicious of all the equipment he was carrying with him and when they questioned what it was being used for, they didn't understand so they decided to confiscate it.
That just my guess, but considering how they gave him paperwork that didn't give any explanation, there's no way of knowing.
What the hell does streaming video games have to do with terrorism? This just looks like a form of harassment to me. This sucks Sp00ky. Sorry.
Spooky, if you need to setup a drive, I'm willing to donate. It seems you won't be able to get your equipment back. Godspeed Spooky.
@#60 You'd have to be part of some law enforcement agency in order to abuse the Patriot Act. It's not a matter of principle since for some reason HLS had reason to believe Spooky's equipment or Spooky himself was suspicious so they acted within the boundaries of the Patriot Act.
@Soren It's true property could be confiscated prior to the PA, however the act allows agencies such as HLS to take such action based on as little as "a gut feeling". Based on Spooky's account of the incident, his equipment was detained through abuse of the PA; the equipment was confiscated, he was served a notice and that was that. Detainment of property prior to the PA being instituted would most likely involve warrants and detainment of Spooky himself for suspected illicit activity.
I'm not an expert on law, but I can recognize the Patriot Act when I see it.
We are with you spooky. Very sorry to hear about this.
