3rd strike at EVO lol. I wish, but probably not going to happen. Still Gootecks is my hero for uploading these.
Can someone explain to kme the love for SF:3s it seems like its a really unbalanced game but its got this devote following.
@5
Really Unbalanced... based on? Theses vids?
You want to compare it to SF4 which needed rebalancing 3 times...so far.
Go back to Kindergarten KID!
I think some folks who haven't played it extensively tend to look at tournament results and assume the game is unbelievably broken, and pass it off like a game with nothing new to offer players. It's unbalanced but its not broken, people should realize first off that there is a difference. 3rd strike is such an open ended system even the toughest situations can reversed in your favor with the right amount of skill/reads. 3rd strike generally favors the more experienced players and there is a huge amount of depth you can get out of the engine. This and the fact that people have been playing it for years is a big reason people love the game despite realizing it has a few balancing issues. People have been playing it for 12 years and are still finding new things in the game.
Plus it has Alex. IMO the best SF character to date.
@6 He was asking an honest question dude, its responses like these that give us 3s fans a bad rep. Play the game, find someone who knows how to play it properly and you'll see why people are in love with it (with all its faults) if nothing else.
@5 i think everyones reasons are different. I'd agree that the game is unbalanced however. Chun, Yun and Ken are extremely top tier whilst people like Sean, Hugo and Q are extremely low tier however the rest are very viable characters with the right mentality, gameplan and luck. The fight system was and is the most advance fight system in 2d history and i'd say even in fighting game history. The parry system makes virtually everything reversable as long as you read right, and can make people like q, hugo and sean still viable. The whole gameplay is painfully addictive and is alot more attacking based in comparison to other SF's.
The animations compared to other 2d games are so smooth due to so many frames which makes it look like a gem. I do like the roster (whilst i'd say some are hit and miss and i like a bigger majority of the SF2 cast better) its weird and more in you're face, who or what is Q? School girl ninja? hell yeah etc.
I also think it holds a flame to my heart as it was the era (sf3:3s and MVC2) which i started to realise i loved fighters over any other genre and finally was getting pretty good. Also can't beat 2d sprites.
They're just mine im sure everyone else has their own
@5
You must be new in the fighting gaming community if you ask that question, kid.
@videos
I like all the love 3S is getting from the release of 3SO. It is so much fun to watch this matches, and Gootecks is really putting an effort to promote the game. I appreciate your work there, Gootecks! Keep the good work!
I wish there could be a third strike post without someone complaining about the game, if you don't line it don't play it and don't post about nobody owes anyone an explanation of why we play these games. I don't wanna sound like a jerk but every 3s post has a comment about how bad the game is, it is annoying. It makes 3s players snobbish
@GamePirate420: "Really Unbalanced... based on? Theses vids?

SFIV received three iterations primarily due to sales success. SFIII received multiple iterations primarily due to lack of such success.
Which game has better balance is arguable, but given that virtually all SFIII majors come down to a small number of characters and Capcom did originally plan to rebalance it before they determined its likely return on investment left no room in the budget for that, you can argue the SFIV series has overall been a bit more fair. That's something we can at least say they are continuing to work on.
But as usual, people mock someone like @BUYACUSHUN for asking a simple question instead of answering the question. If your superior experience leaves you somehow unwilling or unable to address the subject in which you are supposedly an expert, of what value is said experience?
Support the 3s community and show everyone we are strong

It's disgusting/sad (it's also kinda funny haha) how a lot of ppl in the community feel like they are manly or badass just because they play 3rd strike.
Don't get me wrong I don't say anything against the game, it's just these guys that I find ridiculous. #5's question seems pretty legit to me, looks like he honestly wanted to know something but was instead answered by a bunch of real men who have nothing useful to say. At least he got a couple of genuine answers.
Who doesn't enjoy seeing Yun take a beating?
Jokes aside, I tried SFIII after IV (the first SF I played) and MAN, these guys must be GOOD. It's awesome to watch but no way in hell I'm pulling any of that stuff in this lifetime. I'll stick to IV.
But I do highly respect SFIII.
Lolol someone said Alex was the best SF character to date. The embarrasment LOL.
Just because he's low tier doesn't exclude him from being the best.
The characters that are unbalanced are the bottom 4 and the top 2. The middle 13 are all viable. Besides, you're rarely going to play anyone who can play Yun and Chun to their full potential.
For a game that didn't originally benefitted from Youtube, Online Play, DLC and patches, 3S surely aged well. Broken, unbalanced? Call it as you like but which game wasn't ever? Tiers? Break the mold. We've already seen that it can be done. It's called skill.
inb4 So why didn't Crapcom reinvent this game this time around?
While Chun Li, Yun, and Ken are ranked as the top 3, in my own personal opinion, I believe Makoto is the best character in the game. One karakusa grab can pretty much spell death for an opponent. The only thing she really lacks is a wake up moves.
Most advance fight system in 2-D? Maybe... but this game died for me after Anniversary Collection, I loved it on Dreamcast and thats probably where it should have stayed, however I do like to watching the matches always some random comeback...I just don't like playing it anymore sorry 3s baby I out grew you!
@12 - sorry but a majority of 3s players became snobbish the second they played sf4 (maybe even long b4 that).The game is great, but it is also broken at the highest levels. only when both players are scrubs is every char viable. In both the US and japan most if not all tournies fall down to the same 3 chars (with a random makoto & akuma thrown in).
When one of the best 3s players in the world (MOV) says the game is poorly balanced and that chun should be banned the so called balance (due to the parry system) 3s players defend is nothing but a crock.
I agree, "3s players defend is nothing but a crock". Main chicken! Thanks gootecks!
