Capcom employees, Seth Killian and Christian Svensson responded to some Super Street Fighter 4, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Capcom vs SNK 2 question posted on Twitter and the Capcom-Unity forums. Here's a quick recap. Can you combo a normal or special into pandora activation for a hard-hitting combo? Kinda like a one-time meterless tag cancel? — Infilament
Seth Killian: Nope, as it is currently, you can't combo into Pandora activation.
Since 3rd Strike SF III on XBLA and PSN is having a great sucess in sales will that increase the posibilities of having Capcom Vs SNK 2 realease on XBLA and PSN with a similar treatment of that of SFIII? — Antares
Christian Svensson: SF3 has been out exactly one week. We've got a lot of updates and such coming to SF3 still. It'll be a while before we're ready to talk about what could potentially be next. [Editor's note: This post was made 3 weeks ago.]
Are there any plans to bundle all the Costumes together for one low price, like how it was done on Steam, for XBL and the PSN? — Zenny Lee
Christian Svensson: No, there aren't any current plans. Maybe when and if bundles become possible on XBL marketplace we'll consider something like this on consoles but that's still probably some time well off in the future.
Will there be a special edition or limited edition UMvC3? If so, how would we be able to get it? How much will it cost? — vadistech
Christian Svensson: The Capcom store may be working on something for this but we aren't preparing anything for broader distribution.
Chances of a Fight Club event ever coming to Iowa? — Sonicsage
Christian Svensson: I'll never say never, but slim. Chicago is likely to be the closest we get.
Since so many of the characters on the Capcom side are coming in from the SF4 series, will we be getting their alternate costumes along with them? — Inphinite
Christian Svensson: We're not prepared to discuss these points yet. Soon enough though.
Why are Shuma and Jill DLC for the new game when they're obviously going to be on the disc and there isn't any cross compatability between the two versions of the game? You're adding 12 more characters to the game and those two aren't included? — Inphinite
Christian Svensson: Other than the issues raised above, another reason is that we don't want to upset the folks that DID buy Shuma and Jill in vanilla. Those that bought them before, will be able to carry them over to UMVC3. We've been very clear on what is and isn't included in UMVC3. As with anything else, as a consumer, you decide if you see value in the base product or the additional options that exist for it.
I would be pissed if they added them free, after I spent money on them
who are these elitest morons who keep asking questions about 3's shut up about that dead sorry game...
Allowing you to combo into pandora would kill the game, please capcom, look at mvc3 and tell me its a good idea to combo into pandora.
For cvs2 i think capcom needs to talk with snk. It was a great game but we wont see that come back for a very long time.
I'd love to see CvS2 on PSN and XBL! At least they might consider it.
Why are Shuma and Jill DLC for the new game when they're obviously going to be on the disc and there isn't any cross compatability between the two versions of the game? You're adding 12 more characters to the game and those two aren't included? - now what an inappropriate question to ask how dare he even talk in that manner without putting himself into shame? a lot of disrepect...i mean bitching sitting in your own room is one thing, but telling it to Capcom emplyee and one of the central and respectful Capcom faces is just a lack of education in my book...*double facepalm*
"we don't want to upset the folks that DID buy Shuma and Jill in vanilla"
how dare he! it's the least CAPCOM can do to ALL the people that bought MVC3 to begin with. 60 bucks, then 9 months later they release an expansion pack. for 40 bucks
Re: Pandora Mode - Not being able to combo with PM is EXACTLY the right move. This is shaping up as Ono looking at X-Factor and changing it from "must use" to "use wisely...heck, you still might not want to use it." The best thing for it would be to be a rarely seen gambit because of the risks. If it goes unused, then whatever.
@11 And that leaves the people who bought MvC3 and Shuma/Jill...where? They somehow also didn't "buy MvC3 to begin with" and aren;t as entitled as you feel you are?
This is the best solution. You didn't buy them, you're not out of ANYTHING and are still getting the same UMvC3 as everyone else with the option to get them. Or don't get them, since you apparently don't care to buy them for the first game (which is totally a cool decision, it's up to the consumer). If you did buy them, your purchase wasn't in vain and you're still getting the same UMvC3. Nobody loses.
HOW ABOUT THIS!
If we show a receipt of any kind to the store we bought it from. Target Best Buy, etc.
We can exchange our copy of Vanilla MvC3 for a Jill/Shuma voucher upon purchase of Ultimate MvC3.
Or a voucher for any 2 DLC characters. Old or upcoming!
It's a reward from Capcom for a new game coming out so quickly after Vanilla
@13 Unfortunately, apart from that being extremely complicated, even if they don't do it we're still going to buy it. And then we'll buy Hyper Ultimate 2012 Championship Tournament Two Worlds Warrior Edition too.
Pandora is a stupid idea, without the ability to combo into it, seeing how fast it drains the health, you might as well play a patient game, if you are about to lose to activate a pandora for a comback in desperate situations, it will kill you in less than 0.1 sec without you even done anything...I saw the video, it drains hp extremely fast, I can only see it as a stylish finisher for a combo, thats it.
the way i see the jill/shuma situation is that if you paid for them you've been able to use them long enough to get the $10 worth while others have gone without. i paid for jill and shuma 9 months ago because i didn't want to wait, but the time has come for everyone to be on equal terms.
capcom doesn't care when people complain about how they do things that they gain from, but all of a sudden they're scared people will complain about something that they WON'T gain from? how convenient!
wow...are the few people that bought jill and shuma that selfish, that they would feel pissed if WE all got JILL and SHUMA in UMVC3? seriously!?
still dumb for capcom to not include jill and shuma in UMVC3. just give a free costume code for the jill/shuma purchasers.
>Free costume code
Do you know how hard something like that will be to acomplish? Its not being selfish. Its being fair. And it is alot easier to handle. If you paid money for something, and then somebody else gets it for free, i'm sure you'll have the same attitude.
You know, my group has a campaign for people who complain about stuff like this. You guys say "DLC cost too much! Wah Wah Wah!" Well, my group has a campaign for that.
Do you know what it's called? It's called...
GET A DAMN JOB!!!!
This has been a public service announcement brought to you in part by: Kazama Hadou and the ACK Wildboyz Committee.
@23
If you want them THAT bad purchase the dlc. It would be ripping people off if they gave them as free characters when others payed. A free costume pack isn't worth as much as characters. How would you feel if you payed 10 dollars, and then someone else gets the same thing for free? Most people would be pissed
@22, so by your logic if i paid 100% for something a year ago and now someone else pays %50 of that they're only supposed to get half of said product? i'd hate to see if you ran a used car lot... 1998 ford mustang gt only $24,999!
you selfish bastards feel like you are getting ripped off for 10 dollars that you paid months ago.
DLC doesn't even cost much as you guys say, so why you keep bitching about 10 stupid dollars?!
it would be easier for the community as a whole if we all have the same tools when playing MVC3.
people didn't buy jill and shuma because they cost "too much",
it's because jill and shuma were bad characters at the bottom tier of mvc3.
JILL AND SHUMA WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE DISC SINCE VANILLA RELEASE!
But they weren't finished as characters when Vanilla was about to release. Capcom made them DLC to still provide them. But they were on the disc, even though incomplete but they were on the disc.
Capcom f↓cked up in the first place and HAD TO make those characters DLC because they maybe chose a too early release date or were just to slow to finish them.
Now they make US pay for two characters who were already planned to be in Vanilla.
I'm actually pissed that they're still NOT f↓cking unlocked on the motherf↓cking new disc.
Everyone who bought them early had like nine months to use those characters and enjoyed a complete roster. Those who bought the characters like 2 weeks before UMvC3 was announced had still like 5 months to use them. Any1 who bought the characters after the announcement, is stupid and deserves to get smacked in the face anyway.
capcom management Q&A
Q: we can sell characters already on the disc, but won't people complain?
A: F those people!
Q: if we re-release this game we'll make $, but won't people complain?
A: F those people!
Q: if we include the entire roster with the new release instead of charging more people for it, won't some people complain?
A: maybe those people have a point.
@29 jill is one of the fastest characters in the game and has a move that covers the whole screen. Not bottom tier.
/if they are bad charactrs, then you shouldn't have an issue with them not being in :)
@30 No one is "making you" buy the characters. If you want them, buy them. If you aren't willing to buy them, it's your loss.
@31 my point is that things de-value with time. look at games like fallout that get a GOTY edition with $40+ worth of DLC on the disc. if you want to play it all right away you pay full price, but if you're willing to wait a year you get a discount.
@29
Naaaah you mixing it up. Being selfish would mean we wouldn't want ANYBODY to have Jill/shuma. What you should of said is that everybody who didn't buy Jill/shuma and wants them for free on UMvC3 are CHEAP. The only people who are bitching are the people who didn't buy Jill/Shuma and are wondering why the people who actually bought bottom tier characters are the only people getting them in UMvC3
Dude I'm not going to buy Airbags to my car just because they "didn't make the release" of the car. They should give it to me with a humble "We're sorry for not installing them."
>_____>
It's not about what it is. It's about the policy from the companies these days. And you id↓ots just accept it and buy the crap they offer.
Srsly. Wtf?
i'm not whining because it isn't free. i DID pay for both characters as soon as they hit the PSstore and i barely even used either of them. still it wouldn't bother me that now 10 months later other people finally get to enjoy them without having to pay. and quite honestly i find it hard to believe that that many people have are gonna get that upset over the little $10 dlc that people are getting for free when anyone who didn't pay $60 for the game (or beta if you will) can now get the full version for only $40. looks like you complainers are missing the big picture.
these angry scrubs who got scammed into buying IN DISC, bottom tier characters will not let go of their PRECIOUS purchase that matters to them SO DAMMMMN MUCH.
technically JILL and SHUMA weren't even downloadable content. you can't download what's already in the disc.
I know for a fact that JILL and SHUMA players would be happy that they both get INTO UMVC3 for free as that would definitely increase the numbers of JILL and SHUMA users, which for now is definitely not that many.
@41
The only people who are getting them for so called "free" are the people who actually paid for them. In retrospect nobody is getting them for free. But the people that didn't buy it because they were to cheap to pay for them in the first place expects them, hell, demands them to be free all of a sudden. That doesn't make any sense at all. It may not bother you but it bothers other people. I honestly don't care. I bought the special edition and got more for my 10 bucks then just the two characters. And I still get to keep them in UMvC as well.
@41 If they didn't buy the original, then they can pay the $10 AND still pay less than people who bought the original game. All up I payed $60 for the original and will be paying $40 for UMVC3, plus $10 for Shuma and Jill. That's $110 in case you can't do math. Now I am pretty damn sure that paying $50 for UMVC3 and the DLC is still cheaper. If people want them that badly, they can shell out the extra money. If not, then they have nothing to complain about.
HAHAHAHA at these angry bird looking b*tches who want Jill and Shuma free because 9months have went by?? You will continue to whine and you will continue to deal with it, you penny with a hole in it pintching scrubs!!!
If pandora could be activated mid-combo. X- Factor, SFXT Edition.
If you guys saying Jill/Shuma should be free seriously can't understand why that would cause problems then you need some help. Someone said that anyone who would be upset about Jill/Shuma being given away free after purchasing them is selfish. But to be willing to marginalize the people who did buy the DLC and make them feel ripped off just so that you can enjoy the characters without having to pay (the same amount of money as they did is) for it is EXTREMELY selfish! What's so difficult about paying $5 for extra characters? If you really want them, buy them. If not then don't. But don't sit around crying about how you should get it for free simply bc UMVC 3 is coming out. <yeah I finally registered on this site just to post in these comments to respond to all the cheap, selfish trolls who think they deserve stuff they never paid for>
@VegaBisonAbel Oh so you just HAVE to get them for free. You will not let go of your PRECIOUS $10 that matters SO DAMMMMN MUCH! Is that it?
In all seriousness though, my question for you is: If you think the characters are crappy low tier characters, then why do you want them SOOOO bad? Or do you just whine about any little thing?
@andrew2high Think of it as adding salt to a wound for no real reason. Will the addition of Jill and Shuma be the deciding factor for a lot of consumers? Highly doubtful. Will more people purchase them now that the game has been rereleased? Highly likely. Will more people feel cheated if the price is lowered? Obviously (look at the Nintendo 3DS situation for example).
Correct me if I'm wrong...(and I may just be trolling here) but I believe there is a saying for people who want it all easy. Quite popular actually. It's: Stay Free. Thats why you're whining anyway right? You want characters you probably won't use, for free, so stay free.
Bottom of the line? CapCom has lain the pipe on you already and told you that you won't be getting Jill and Shuma for free. That's not something that'll change. Suck it up and buy em, since your complaining won't change anything or simply stay free. Time to go improve my Shuma tech.
Capcom Vs SNK 2 probably falls into the same problem they have with freedom regarding MvC3; there's another company involved.
I feel like CvS2 was a great game, but part of me feels like Capcom would almost prefer to keep the gem buried, as their recycled sprites put up against SNK's redrawn sprites still kinda have a jarring effect. It's fairly bearable as long as Morrigan isn't involved, I guess.
@64 Then you must of not been a big fan of Jill. Yeah her S.T.A.R.S. incarnation was fun, but I enjoy this jill just as much as MvC2 Jill. The only problem with jill in MVC3 is her low damage out-put, which I may add isn't horrible. Just not good, and has trouble getting in on keep-away characters.
I really wouldnt mind if everyone got Jill and Shuma, I got 'em in the special ed. UMVC.
Honestly, things like this happen often, sometimes not completely for "free" but things like discounts for things you payed full price.
Im just thinking of it as "I wanted them early on bad enough to use my own money, now that months passed and theyre free, then whatever. I could have simply not of gotten them early on. Made my decision early on, no regrets."
But I dont care what happens, I want CVS2 on XBL/PSN!
If they put the DLC in UMvC3 for free then it would hurt Capcom's DLC plans in the future. I mean, who would buy DLC characters in the future if they know that when Capcom releases a new edition of their game, which they seem to do to a fault, they can get it for free?
Usually GOTY editions of games come out a year or so after the release of the game, which, in most cases, the game has already sold the majority of what it is going to sell. UMvC3 is not a GOTY edition of MvC3, it is a new version of the game that is coming out 9 months after the release of the original.
Seriously people, did Super Street Fighter IV include all the DLC costume packs from the vanilla version of the game? Same with SSFIV AE. Capcom does not include DLC with their updated versions of their games... deal with it.
bring da fight club Back 2 Chicago Hardcore Under radar Gamers Are Here
I am a customer, and I bought Shumie and Jill day one, and still I believe wholeheartedly if got them for free from now on, I really wouldn't mind at all.
People should be equal in this matter, only separate in terms of skill and rankings and unlocks.
Of course, no one else think like this and get angry. Money comes, money goes.
Yay for Pandora not being a cancel of any kind, now it's almost 7% possible for you to win with it in a real match. :D
