Hey, we don't want worthless/useless characters either. Terrific.
Also, undiscovered technology in what? The original MvC3? Cuz that's gonna be irrelevant in 2 months. Y'all made that reality by releasing this game.
And that downloadable mode will be free initially, but to use it you'll have to pay money. Shadow Mode 2.0
Oh god here we go... This is the part where a lot of people complain...
Since Thor isn't getting any useful buffs in Ultimate that I know of he will still be a worthless character even though I will still try to make him work in the game.
Not getting this version of the game. Complete waste of money. Sorry capcom. I'll wait up for SFXT
[:
Hsien-Ko would like a word with you, Niitsuma. Isn't she also your favorite character? Kind of odd that she's not even viable (more of a playable cameo) and he comes out saying some sh!t like this.
Here comes the parade of entitled whiny gamers wanting stuff for free that they don't deserve. Also, felicia, wright and shuma aren't worthless. What game are u playing?
@8, I wonder what your face will look like when they announce Super Duper Street Fighter vs Tekken some times after the original release.
If I was capcom I would make this game. Then wait another 10 years. Tired of b***ch a$$ crying. WE talking about Marvel... not street fighter... but Marvel. Not the game that has a hoard of yun yang players, but Marvel. The game that we can choose any character we want and still have a chance of winning.
(We don't want worthless characters) So that's why Hsien-ko is so godlike...oh wait.
#15 every character has bad matchups.. shuma might be good against certain characters like sentinel and hulk for his multiple hitting air normals and specials but against a wesker or wolverine he's dead meat.. he has too many bad matchups to make him viable
So pheonix wright isnt going to be a useless character?
Frank83 could you please tell me how Phoenix Wright plays. Capcom hasn't put up any videos yet and haven't even talked about his playstyle. Only you, Seth , and other play testers have really had a chance to learn about him and I bet you could get a decent interview and increase your fame if you would spill the beans on him this early.
@ 24
Just read it. Taken from Tokyo Game Show stage show for UMVSC3 "According to Niitsuma, Phoenix fights without fighting. His standing weak attack has him showing the opponent some documents. His crouching weak attack has him looking for clues on the floor.”
It's just too lame
You guys are acting pathetic, if YOU cant use the character right, that doesnt mean their "Worthless", a "Worthless" charcter is like Servbot, Low health, low damage, THAT is Worthless.
Arthur,Joe,MODOK, Hsien-ko, you have to be pro's, How about we make EVERYONE an easy to use WHORE like Sentinel? will THAT make you happy?
@Frank83
Lame? Its called being creative, the way he fights is a bonus to his character, his actual attack/hitbox/recover/startup is what will be judged. Just look at Mr.Gameandwatch from Smash bros. everything he does isnt fighting, its just a copy and paste of nearly EVERY movement from the game and watch games and yet it worked.
@psycho2k9
Technically yeah, except its from the Ace attorney series.
In a sense, Wright will be a Joke character, but not a useless and pathetic one lie Servbot
They don't want any worthless characters. That does not mean every character is supposed to be completely off-the-wall amazing. It means that every character has their place in some way, shape, or form. Be it an on-point, an anchor, or as a simple assist, every character has traits that make them good.
@19 You still have a chance at winning in SF with any character even against Yun or Yang. People were bitching about Yun and Yang before they even got to play them if you're gonna talk about Balance Marvel is far worse look at top 8 MvC3 at any major lmao Dark Phoenix Rises! Plus Wesker and an invincible assist or Magneto I wanna see you use Arthur, Thor, and Iron man against my Wolverine, Akuma, Wesker then we can play SF I'll pick random and you can have Yun sound fair? Didnt think so :)
Oh boy. Can't wait to see whats gonna happen in this article.
Not popular =/= Worthless
You guys are f*cking ignorant if you think that just because they aren't popular/played in tourneys that somehow "automatically" deems them worthless.
No lie, EVERYONE didn't like Spencer before MvC3 dropped, right? (Ah, man, it's THAT Bionic Commando, he's stupid, get rid of him)
*Game drops*
"Hey guise! Spencer is so awesome! Watch this...BIONIC AAAAAARM! :D"
You guy are a bunch of hypocrites. Real talk.
My face when Phoenix Wright is top tier
http://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6...
@41
Thank God, I'm not the only one who remembers that. Oh, and let's not forget:
'OMFG that's the stupid Spencer with dreads, lame! Waste of slot!'
People also pulled the same crap with Shulk because 'We already have one hulk, we don't need two'.
#41 whom are you talking to? if you refer to my last message than i'll answer for me Phoenix Wright and Viewtiful Joe are worthless characters asnd waste of character spacem so it automatically categorize them as worthless for me...also i see you stick to my comment, but yet you support developer who have to be objective about what they say...oh well trolling developers and self-righteous are so popular and cool these days...if someone comes here and tries to voice their opinion you bash them, if developer say something is worthless you easily agree and praise...people are tools these days...and have no own opinion...
@#28 troll harder bro.
When was the last time hsien ko or arthur placed in a tournament other than last if they were even used at all?
Even if you are "pro" arthur/hsien ko, you'll still be steamrolled by most teams in the game because they JUST CAN'T COMPETE.
@ChunLi
What's funny about that is that they'll call Viewtiful Joe, Felicia, Hsien Ko, or whoever "worthless" then they'll turn around and request Megaman Venom or Gambit, 3 ACTUALLY worthless characters.
All I care about Is Phoenix all other characters are worthless in my book....mhmm Wish I could just play Phoenix alone with five bars from the start...
@ChunLi
AMEN
@Summoner
Its not people's opinions, its people who judge a characters appearence to not be in the game, and not their actual movesets,which is what the freakin games about
@48
Any MvC2 character that isn't God Tier is "worthless" because due to how the MvC2 system was...a copy/paste game.
Any character with a "MvC3 makeover" can become viable, that's the thing. Ryu and Tron were bad and had no combos in MvC2, right? With the MvC3 makeover, they "all-of-a-sudden" became good, viable characters.
People think MegaMan and Phoenix Wright are "useless/worthless" due to how they last envisioned them: "MvC2 MegaMan with no combos/Phoenix Wright "lol Objection""
MvC3, as a system, made bad characters good, and good characters, well, good. Any character can be made viable with the way that MvC3 was made.
@AerialScrew
You REALLY need to be good, Ultimate is giving them some good buffs, so hopefully we'll see more.
How am i trolling? calling anything worthless is a troll in itself
@46
By that silly logic I can say Dante, Vergil, Wesker, etc. etc. are worthless characters because I don't like them as characters.
A reasonable criticism of a character as "worthless" would bring up evidence that even in the hands of an expert a character has a very, very slim chance of winning due to poor character design; you know, OBJECTIVE CRITERIA.
Calling a character like Phoenix Wright "worthless" is just plain ridiculous since you have never even seen one gameplay video.
What are kids learning, or not learning, in schools these days? Geesh.
@43: Why does it remind me of Link from the Faces of Evil?
Why are people complaining about Hsien-Ko and Felicia and stuff? This article is about UMvC3. No one knows their worth in Ultimate.
@3 @13 I believe he said in Umvc3.. not vanilla so unless you have been playing them in umvc3, shut up! @3 Felicia is the queen of unblockables and shumas mystic ray assist is very good and he is viable and far from useless, watch p gorath play him. @13 hsien ko is far from useless, she's one of the best assist characters in the game. @47 llnd play hsien ko and he does pretty well, and Arthur is good in x factor with meter, so he's not useless. Give me 4 bars and level 2 x factor and ill make you rage quit. Just because a characters isn't whores that doesn't mean they are not viable. It just turns out that "pros" don't want to try hard so they pick the best.
This interview is BS. Until Capcom & Marvel give the fans what they actually want by fixing the gaping character holes (no Megaman, no Spider-Man villains, and other favs) and stop using this as a big ad for Marvel this game is a patch. Hardly the complete package they're claiming.
@EG2
"What the fans actually want"
Yea-No, there are different standards and different types of fans for MvC3, some people want someone, others think their garbage.
(LOL NIITSUMA THINKS MEGA MAN IS WORTHLESS! THE SALT CONTENT IS GONNA RISE WITH THIS ONE!
Next salt-inducing news article: Kuro and Turo and top tier!)
@63 WHY should it have been part of the original? As recently as BlazBlue, 12 characters could be considered a full game's worth of content, yet you say you should get it for free? Why would Capcom do that? Just to be "nice"?
sorry but vjoe,all 3 darkstalker chars,both dlc chars,authur,chunli,modok,spiderman,ironman,capt. america,thor,chris,x-23,haggar(only assist is good) and SSkrull are all worthless chars. mvc3 isn't as bad as 2 balance wise but it isn't too far behind. phoenix is possibly the biggest mistake ever put in a fg.
No useless characters huh? Well lets see... Haggar sure is coming to mind. He doesn't have his assist this time around, and that was the only reason he was played by anyone.
@67 why should we let them get away with less. They give us less modes but find a way to sell a ton of DLC, were Tekken gives us way more without digging into our wallets. Just because they brought back a franchise that people have been asking for for years we should just say "you sold us an incomplete game and are selling what would seem to be the full version in the same year....yea thats cool" lower price or not thats over 100 dollars and when you look at what we are getting its not worth that
@71 How is it incomplete? Just because it doesn't have more characters than MvC2? Does that mean MvC1, Xmen vs SF, and Marvel vs SF were all incomplete as well? Not to mention SFIV and MK. Who the hell are you to say what's incomplete? Vanilla MvC3 gave you 36 characters, more than 80% of Capcom's other fighting games. They only released 56 characters ONCE in MvC2 over a decade ago and never since or before that. Why is 36 characters all the sudden incomplete when MK can be considered complete with only 27?
lol wow so who was talking about characters I was talking about the game as a whole, no spec mode, S#it ton of gliches, lack of story (only because they said it was going to have one) They gave us less than any other fighting game that has come out and just because its capcom we have to be all up on their balls? Its not even a year and they are making us buy the game again and selling it with the stuff they said was going to be in the first one, and when someone questions that fan boys riot "WHY DO WE DESERVE MORE, CAPCOM IS AWESOME," if we keep letting them get away with crap like this you cant be complaining when they rush games sell DLC and then resell the game later as a "super" version
Dude, if you're buying fighters for things like story and spectator mode, I hate to break it to you, but you're not a fighting game fan. Sure those things are nice to have, but does that make MK a better game even though it has a much simpler combat system and reuses the same 2 models for every single character on the roster? -Shrug- If you think so, have fun with it.
Also, Capcom has been doing this forever. Don't remember SF2 champion edition? Turbo edition? Super SF2? SF Alpha 2 Gold? SF EX 2 plus Alpha? Super Street Fighter 4? Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade edition? Don't act like you didn't know what you were getting with Capcom and they somehow "Swindled" you with the same business practice they've been using since the 90s.
lmao.
you can never say anything on this site. xD
If you like the game some dum domssa will try ruin it for you. if you don't like it. another dom dom will also say something.
so how about all of you STFUP. Y' like what ya see buy it if not sthup.
mvc3u rules lmfao xD
Guys, it's a fighting game. There are gonna be characters that are gonna be used more than others. Sometimes for gameplay reasons, other times because people think the character is cool. More often than not, it's the latter. I can't tell you how many times people I've seen that have been practically crying with excitement that they'll get to have a team of Dante, Wesker, and Vergil. Because long trenchcoats and a rebellious attitude is cool to them.
man when capcom did that all those years ago there was a couple of big differences, one was no internet, and two was no DLC if you are going to release games annually why sell DLC if the purpose of DLC is to prolong the life of the game?
Things a fighting game needs
Versus
Online
Spec (yea its a must in this day and age)
What it doesnt need
Story (its not needed but I like it)
Comeback gimmick so newbs dont get owned
DLC (once again if you are going to sell the game in a year no need for it just pack the game with more content)
Been a fighting game fan for years but crap like this makes me want to stop being a capcom fan
No internet for SFIV? My memory must be off. Didn't Arcade Edition come out this year? And you STILL didn't see Ultimate MVC3 coming? C'mon.
What he said:
"We were able to make this game because Marvel vs. Capcom 3 sold so well."
What he meant: "We suckered you guys to beta test our game. Let's make a more complete version."
Then he said that Ultimate may not be the final version depending on how things go. Just put Mega Man X and some Spider Man villains in there, then maybe it'll be complete.
NEW! Spectator Mode! Capcom, seriously?
What's funny is if you ask people what would've made Vanilla MvC3 "complete" I'll bet you'll get different answers almost every time.
@54 While it's nice to be optimistic, let's be real. It's a fighting game. NO MATTER WHAT IT IS, there will always be characters that will be better than others. For example, let's look at Hsien-Ko. People are defending Hsien Ko from being a worthless character, and that's fine. But, as a person who has used her on my team PLENTY of times, I can say she's at a major disadvantage against the most of the cast. Consider everything that presently makes Hsien-Ko into a bad character: comically slow movement rate, pathetically slow ground and air dashes, low stamina, extremely high damage and hitstun scaling on normals and specials, no moves that generate a ground bounce, wall bounce, crumple or untechable spin, no OTG capability outside of supers, no moves that can be jump cancelled for combo extensions, a command throw with ridiculously short range considering how big her "grab attempt" is, a gong special that fails half the time against fast projectiles, a projectile special that can literally get her blown up every time it's used, and a pendulum swing which doubles as her best mobility option, but can't be cancelled after activation making her a huge, predictable target. On top of that, her golden armor hyper, easily her best asset, only last 5 seconds on point and she does not generate meter in this mode. Thankfully, some of the disadvantages I stated here will be nullified with the buffs she received in UMvC3, but even these are not enough and Hsien-Ko in her current form is at best a minor annoyance. Why do I still use her? Because I like the character. She's cute. :) But Capcom needs to not only buff her, but completely rethink the character. Either they need to fix everything that is wrong with her and keep Gold Armor as is, or leave everything that is wrong with her and vastly improve Gold Armor by doubling the duration, allowing her to build meter or maybe throwing on the same ability it had in Vampire Savior - any damage dealt by her during the mode can't be recovered, aka no red life. Maybe then she can stand a chance. Now aren't you happy I gave proof instead of just saying "She's worthless."?
Cap has his kite shield in his normal outfit?
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/user...
WOW this has me as a marvel fan getting pretty gitty
@83 Honestly I think all Hsien Ko really needs is to be able to cancel out of her pendulum swing like she could in Darkstalkers. That and perhaps a faster dash, and she'd be fine.
@54
"X-factor make bad chars gud. hurrr" FIXED.
X-factor makes any scroob character good.
@everyone else
Marvel Vs. Capcom 3... Giving scrubs a voice since 2011.
@Darkphoenixrises
Chip em to death.
@Hotdiddykong
I just want to make it clear that I am not unhappy with the roster of course there are more characters I would have liked to have seen and others I could have done without. The only thing I wanted to mention was the new business model capcom has been implementing. Its sad that we cant have a damn discussion about these types of things without someone on either side of the spectrum whining about something without hearing the other side. I was not happy with SSF4AE either, all these DLC updates and then characters and costumes makes me wonder if they arent (for the lack of a better term) "taking us for a ride"
I understand completely if you disagree with my views but we should keep it at a debate level instead of a fan boy battle. Right now the only reason people are putting up with capcoms stuff is because its from games they have waited 10+ years for, if this was a new ip or another company none of this would fly
the only worthless character i see reasonably is V-Joe, he's tiny, hella slow mvmt and moves wise, and deal thin damage, not even assists can cover all his grounds
thor felicia and the rest of them are reasonably viable, just no one out there has done the hwk on them to make them work
@83 You're preaching to the wrong crowd bro. 99.9% of the people that defend Hsien-ko's worth don't even use her. Anyone that actually plays her, knows her glaring weaknesses. Capcom screwed up with designing her plain and simple. Even if they would have taken Hsien-ko's vampire savior carnation and placed her in MvC3 she would be a stronger character then what she is now. Seriously how is she faster in vampire savior when it's a slower game?
And her assist isn't that great considering she can easily be killed before you get her armored up. Buffs won't help Hsien-ko in UMVC3 either, especially the pathetic excuse for buffs they've given her. she needs a complete re haul, us Hsien-ko players know this even llnd has complaints.
@74 you say all this these things but do you have valid proof that capcom said they were putting spectator mode or anything you said in vanilla MvC3. If you going to state something people need cold hard evidence for it. You can't assume there putting those things in the game from the gecko mean while you rant on saying that capcom promise us there where going to put it in even tho they didn't. If you can prove me wrong I want true documentations or a video saying that there putting these things in the game.
We don't have any current plans for new characters! *buzzz*
We don't have any plans right now for current characters *buzzz*
We're talking about possibly adding new characters *buzzz*
I haven't decided who the characters are yet *buzzzzz*
We haven't decided when to release the characters *buzzz*
.... Sears Catalog... *DING*
OKAY NOW UN TIE ME! I DON'T DESERVE THIS KIND OF TREATMENT! *Buzzz*
@99 well I could ask the same of you, when the game was coming out I read article after article about it. I also saw interviews with Seth talking about the game, now I dont remember what sites I was on or where that info is but if you ask people you will hear the same. But at the same time what current fighting game out right now (with online play) doesnt have this feature? Its kinda like having a fighting game with no local versus, which is pointless.
I get what you are saying about proof but it would be too hard to find and show you. And really what would it do show you a couple of things capcom didnt do would that change your opinion about them or just prove that what I say is true.
But if you do find an interview or video of capcom talking about how they were leaving these things out I will man up and apologize.
@98 I didn't say she was faster in Vampire Savior, I was saying that they should at least take some of the stuff from that game that made Hsien-Ko good. I don't know why they had to mess it up.
Ctrl + F "Felicia"
I'm giggling like a schoolgirl. You guys are entitled to your own opinions but as a Felicia player I love Felicia hate because half the time it's "I spent a minute in training mode and she isn't Wolverine or Wesker"
Continue bitching and what not
@83
From one Lei-Lei user to another, I agree with you 100% on those grounds, because you stated the truth like a fan of the game and not a child who goes off biased opinions.
She's getting a bit better in UMvC3, so here's hoping more for our girl. :D
None of the characters truly suck, most characters are viable at some place or another, and most of the midtier characters are still dangerous in their own rights, the biggest problem that MvC3 had was that the top tiers were too overwhelmingly powerful against 90%, so their was no point in picking say Trish(Who has great zoning, combos and can actually be a threat) instead of Magneto(Exact same strengths but better). And because its self-explanatory but i probably have to say it anyway. Dark Phoenix in X3. Nuff said.(Yes, cant let her get to 5, but one hit from a dante or wesker, bam, 2 1/2 bars left to go to 5, its not as easy as it looks to stop someone from gaining meter.)
@109
Hey, here's a thought. Screw tournament results. Sound good?
All tournament players play it safe with top-tier characters.
Like someone else said, just because a character doesn't feel like Wesker/Wolverine after 1 minute in training doesn't make them useless, they have a different style of playing, but it doesn't make them useless by ANY sense.
You're probably one of those people whom when they lose to a Cap/Hsien-Ko/Arthur they go "S/He is so cheap! They're so dumb."
Speaking of, all three of the aforementioned are getting buffed, so good luck with that.
@Chun-li
Hsien-ko sucks.
In your fairytale world she's prolly god-tier but she's awful where it matters.
She gets trumped on point and her assists are garbo without armor.
She has no approach options, retarded air-dash, retarded air game, retarded strings and her ONLY moment of truth is when you get someone in the corner of a stage with 4 bars.
She has piss-poor projectile damage and even piss-ier combos at mid-screen.
Her command grab does ZERO justice to the under-development she had.
Her reflector is f*cking pointless because the projectile is slow as sh*t.
F*ck you. Stop feeding lies.
Your giving these clowns too much credit. Hsien-ko was trash since day 1 and continues to be.
X-factor makes those types of characters "good" because X-factor is broken and is an escape from real skill.
@110
Trish is more viable or will be once DHC glitch is fixed.
That's Magneto only shine over Trish.
They both have Combos, Trish has great options for getting in, her pressure game is great, her mixups are great, Her assists are above average. There's nothing wrong with her as she currently stands and apparently got better in UMVC3.
Her only flaw along with Mag is that they die relatively fast.
And no, There are some very poorly developed characters and they were made to suck on purpose. Look at thor. Tons of health and horrible everything.
I could honestly say that if he didn't have the health.. he would be deemed WORST. Dude has no Assist but Spark and that assist is bad as well.
I never liked the idea of a tier list, especially for MvC3. I understand certain characters have more tools than others, but in a game like Mvc3, it's hard to call any character useless, when almost any character in the game can kill you in one combo if they just happen to touch you once.
The MvC versus games are rushdown by nature, if you take all the basic elements that make it what it is, then any character who has.
a) Good Damage
b) Very Fast and agile.
c) Good speed.
d) Long Combos.
e) Great tools (Invincibility frames, teleports, air/tri dash, flight ect.).
Add some glitches and shenanigans and these make up the Top Tier list in MvC games in a nut shell, some better than others. Niitsuma tried his best to make it difficult for these characters to dominate but he missed one critical part. The above points will make for a viable character no matter what system is in place (X-Factor, damage scaling, hit scaling ect.).
So when the team got created they started making characters like MODOK or Hsien Ko, or Authur, very different but sadly very weak. But they are only weak when compared to the current system they play in. Like I said MvC games are naturally rushdown friendly, always has. So the only way to balance it is to make projectile and keep away stronger.
So even if you Slow down Wesker, Wolverine, Magneto and Dante, they are still strong because the game lets them be strong. So it's safe to make defensive and projectile characters stronger. Hsien Ko, Authur and the others are gonna be much better in UMvC3 because of this.
Please add Mega Man X Niitsuma. He would definitely be an awesome potential to the game. If there's one character in Capcom who is the total opposite of worthless and is Overpowered with timestop, blackholes etc.... its MegaManX.
@111: So how good is your namesake in this game exactly, hmm?
@51 Lame characters with cool movesets are still lame characters.
@67 BlazBlue is a 1v1 fg. Marvel being 3v3 means it should have a nice sized roster.
Awwww guys, why so serious!?!?
C'mon lets dance:
Yes Totally agree with this post. Interesting. I like this blog too ;) http://www.tobaccoandcigarettes.com/
@121
Then, by your logic, MvC3 would be complete with three times the fighters, yes?
That makes it... 36 characters. Exactly the same as MvC3 had when it first released. Yeah, no, your logic is flawed.
@Tier debaters
Two points here: one, what tiers are should not influence how much fun you have with a character. Knowledge of tiers means nothing - you can intuit much from playing the characters yourselves.
Secondly (and I want to emphasize this), Tiers. Are. Not. Static.
Yes, Hsien-Ko and Felicia may be considered weak by today's standards. But what if we had a Fighting Singularity, if you will, where somebody comes along and plays either of those characters like they've never been played before? They'd shoot up the roster and suddenly be "good". But nothing will have changed - just the metagame.
This is the crux of the matter, in my opinion: too many people view the tier list as a rating of character strength. It isn't. All the tiers are is a measure of how effectively a metagame can be applied with these characters in a tournament situation given the current trends. It's how good people can play the characters, not how strong they are. I don't deny there is a trend towards strong characters = high tier, but it isn't always the case.
Finally, about spectator mode:
How ever did you survive without the Internet? Seriously, is watching people play a game by using a feature built into that self-same game really that important? It's like saying "I want to watch somebody watch a high- def movie in high-def". It boggles the mind that it's that important. If you're bored, you could always play the game and make your own awesome moments. I'm not saying it isn't good to have, but grow a sense of priority, people.
@126 my logic isn't flawed. How'd you come up with that? Lol. You can't compare a 1v1 fighting game to 3v3 when it comes to roster size. AE has a larger roster than MVC3. Seeing the same teams over and over and over againg becomes a little mundane.
As far as spec mode goes. It should be a standard feature. Sure they never said they were going to give it to us. But look at what they did with SF4. Once you implement a feature into one of your games it becomes a standard assuming it works well(gameplay mechanics excluded). This isn't 1999 so of course people are going to be shocked when something that has become a standard in a lot of competitive vg's is left out. Especially something as big as MARVEL.
Capcom be trolling like they don't have the funds to do sh*t. Lol, It's f*cling CAPCOM.
I just hope Thor get a really good buff (maybe exchange some power for speed and add a couple of new moves and normals). It can be a great character but Its options are really limited if you compare him with other characters.
@126
If everyone suddenly decides to put Hsien-ko on their team.. she isn't going to magically shoot up the tier roster just because.
She still sucks.
Pros:
Reflector
Super Armor assist
Great range normals and anti-air
Command Grab
Can combo off throw
Cons:
Low-damage output
Horrible assist w/out armor
Low-air game
No viable options
Shortage of combos
Costly of meter
Bad walking speed
horrible air-dash
Extremely tight traction which virtually disables wavedash
....
There's too much to name.
These obvious flaws do not "go away" just because someone is in competitive play a lot. That's just a lot of people trolling or being stupid.
In a matter of having fun; THE POINT STILL STANDS.
What the f*ck kind of scenario is this?
"Haha! Even though you owned my aSS every match because Hsien-ko sucks, I had fun. We should do this again sometime! :D"
When I lose constantly, You may have a good time but you're certainly NOT having a blast. but hey, maybe people like losing?
@126
...Three times the fighters on each side, three times the fighters in the roster. Additionally, you tried to compare the two in your post.
Also, I never said that it was a good idea to leave it out. It wasn't - if at all possible they should have put it in. But everybody seems to be wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth as if it's something that completely ruins the game when it really isn't. Sure, it's annoying as all get out, but it's not (or, at least, shouldn't be) the deal-breaker that some seem to make it out to be.
Finally, if Capcom are "trolling" as you say, what proves they're trolling? They're following a business practice they've used since the 1990s. Mega Man, Street Fighter, Ghouls And Ghosts... each one has seen countless retreads of the same gameplay and people keep buying it. It just seems somewhat ludicrous to me that people have only noticed this now. I sure as hell have, that's why I didn't get MM9 or 10 - just retreads of the originals with new bosses.
Also, I apologise if I came/come off as somewhat confrontational. It just seems that there is a lot of hyperbole being laid out there and I wanted to bring some moderation to the debate. Reading back on my post, I appear to have failed. Will you accept my apology Unknown?
@131
You don't get it. I'm talking about one complete game-changer here, some way of playing that is able to counter the other fighters and actually win - the MvC3 equivalent of an Aerial Atom participating in a V8 touring car race: something crafted in privacy, then brought out to dazzle the competitors on game day. A shift in the metagame that allows competitive play for the less known characters. It may be difficult, but it could work.
But that's for tournament play. If you're casual, why on earth do you care about metagame or such? If you're casual, you'll play who you like, not necessarily the top tiered characters. If that happens to be Hsien-Ko or Dan, so be it. I personally play Arthur and have a ball even if I lose because he's fun to play as. Same with Dante, although I tend to win more with Dante. My younger brother is the same with Amaterasu - he just spams the Sun Disc combo and Okami Shuffle every now and then and according to him, instant fun.
@134 To clear things up, I was commenting on someone else's post who tried to compare the two. And as far as Capcom's business practice, I understand they've been doing the same thing for awhile but maybe back then people didn't have the access to voice their opinions like they do now. Or maybe their finally starting to catch on to the bs.
No apology needed, bro. I have no beef with you, dude. This is the nets, lol. I don't take anything on here to heart. We're just two people voicing our opinions.
As far as proof that Capcom is trolling, I have no hard evidence. That's just something I sincerely believe. The creators of these games put a lot of time and effort into these games and my hat goes off to them but it's ultimately the suits that make the decisions and they don't give a f*ck as long as it makes money.. I believe they had Ultimate planned before Vanilla even dropped. Dirty business tactic. People either support it or they don't.
@131 Congratulations on basically just reposting what I already said and what has already been said. Now you're just talking for the sake of hearing yourself talk. I swear there are so many callous douchebags on the net nowadays. Look at my comment #83 and look at yours. Seriously people stop attacking people just to make yourself feel better.
lol wow just wow no one actually watched the vid you can tell be the comments. what niitsuma meant about worthless characters is trying to balance them all out so no one character is stronger then the whole cast but that every character is strong in their own right against another
@136 I think it was my post you were responding to earlier regarding Blazblue and MvC3. In any case, about Capcom trolling, I think that's just a case of them following the current gaming trends. I don't like the idea of DLC or holding back game elements for sequels either, but Capcom sure didn't start that. Developers have been pulling that crap for years now and to far more outrageous degrees than Capcom has. It's really just the nature of the business, and perhaps a sad reality that companies have to do that these days to stay competitive.
Blame sports games that release identical copies every year with only a roster update. That's where this model came from as far as I can tell.
You can say the "problem" is that people keep buying these minimal updates, but is that really a problem if they also enjoy it? I bought Vanilla MvC3 and now that the new version's coming out, I still feel satisfied with my purchase because I had fun with the game. I got way more time out of MvC3 than any other game I've bought this year, so how can I be upset?
#140 You do those change lists were lists based on the what people saw when they got their hands on the character in UMvC3 FOR THE FIRST TIME? They said things that stuck out to them the most. This isn't the developers giving the change list, dumbass. What do you think this is, Street Fighter? There not gonna say Felicia's crouching Hard has quicker startup or is -5 on block or any of that bulls**t. They only have 99 second matches until they have to give the controller to someone else so they don't have enough time to look at every move the character has and try to see what is different with them. Think before you make yourself look stupid.
@143
Then by all means, Hang on to that faith of yours as if it's the answer to everything.
But, when the game drop; please keep your salt off this site.
@140
My saltiness is from what was given to us from the get-go. We were promised balanced characters for the first failure.
Now they are singing the same song in your little ear and your smiling as if they are sure to deliver a second time around.
I can't wait til November. :D
@144 Newsflash, Lyn. Not everyone who disagrees with your opinion is a fanboy who blindly defends a company that doesn't care about them. Our main problem with YOU is the level of disrespect. I don't where you come off with this condescending attitude of yours, but it hs to stop. I wouldn't have a problem if you just said your opinion in an intelligent and composed manner. THAT'S FINE. It's your opinion, you're entitled to it. But when you start acting like a d*ck and insult people, there's something truly wrong with you. No way should you be acting that, especially over something like this. A fighting game? Really now. You've got to be kidding me. Stop being mean and stop being bitter. I'm not trying to be that dude that patrols around the site making sure people behave, but Lyn, it isn't worth it. I know you're mad about MvC3 not being balanced when they siad it would be, but hey, NO fighting game's balanced, especially if it's a series like MvC3. They just misled you. I'll respect you Lyn, but when you start insulting people for no reason, I will fight you every step of the way. Let's all just relax, OK? And hey, if after all I just said you still don't care, then I won't care either. I tried.
