More Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gameplay for Vergil, Iron Fist & GameSpot preview

A couple of new official Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 gameplay trailers were posted recently, showing a bit more of Vergil and Iron Fist. Hit the jump for the other video, and also an overview of both characters from GameSpot.

GameSpot also did a preview a few days back of both characters, which runs through some of their normals, specials and hypers, and builds a bit on the character demos Seth did.

Here's a snip.

Specials

Judgment Cut: This attack pulled Vergil back on command a short distance before creating a circle of cutting either near, medium, or far away--similar to Dormammu's Black Hole attacks. We found this attack was best used to pull ourselves out of range of incoming strikes before countering with cuts.

Rising Sun: The light version of this attack launched Vergil into the air to perform a jumping kick twice at a forward angle--like Yun's dragon kicks from Street Fighter. Vergil could also teleport-cancel out of this attack. The medium version spun him through the air in an arc and would bounce the opponent off the ground for a follow-up attack. Finally, the hard version had Vergil dash across the screen (through the opponent) before creating a wave of cutting in his wake that would draw the enemy toward him.

Trick: It was a teleport. And unlike his brother, Dante, Vergil could position himself in front of, behind, or above the enemy.

wow... Firebrand's speed boost with x-factor looks like it will be pretty damn annoying lol

and I almost forgot hawkeye was in the game already... that poison arrow did some pretty good damage overall... i wonder if his the status effects stop when he's hit... hmmm

oh and i think thats the longest Arthur combo I've ever seen lol

in dmc3, vergil could actually teleport beneath enemies after launching them, i wished they would implement that in umvc3 and add a new level of shennigans and combo variants, although i know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense

its at around 1:53... you can see him start and you see it come out. but the camera is not on him the entire time... but you can still hear it

It is soooo beautiful how Vergil's air hyper is complimented by Strider Hiryu's Legion. Another thing Hiryu's Japanese voice is so awesome, thank God for the dual language option.

Ironfist will most likely be on of the new characters I will try and pick up as well as Hawkeye for keep away tactics.

lol at the excitement about OTG shield slash. That was posted on a change log since UMVC3 was announced. Anyways very good gameplay, it was actually more impressive to see the underused characters than the new ones.

Did anyone notice how little damage that Firebrand combo did?

Is it just me or was Dorm able to teleport right after his finger shot? =S It seemed like he got instant recovery on it; as a Dorm user, this excites me. ;D

Also, I'd really like to see Phoenix Wright... Nice to see players that know what they're doing, by the way.

I wanna see a Vergil, Wesker, Akuma vs. Dante, Chris Redfield, Ryu match. I think that would be dope, it'd be the villains of devil may cry, resident evil & street fighter against the heros of the same franchises.

I WANT TO SEE THIS DEVIL MAY CRY VS RESIDENT EVIL VS STREET FIGHTER MATCH UP. Somebody make it happen at the upcoming fight club or at NYCC.

@ 54 I think Frank will be one of the most unique character in the game, his TVC move set is interesting with him being able to summon zombies from the ground and from out of the air. He could even use the zombies as projectiles by grabbing and throwing them. His "zombie in a shopping cart" projectile is pretty sweet too. He can even reflect projectiles with his bat. Of course I know you know this already but I'm just saying... I think he's gonna be fresh.

The only thing I'd say was bad is his speed, he was clumber-some, he moved slow/sluggish like a tank only he's not a tank. I would expect capcom has improved his speed and gave him a few more tricks.

I wanna take credit for calling it if it happens but, for some strange reason I truly feel that Frank's mega buster hyper will actually feature Megaman. Like how Antman is in Hawkeye's lvl 3, instead of Frank transforming into Megaman and doing the mega buster, Megaman himself will run onto the stage, aim and let the buster blast off. To our surprise, I think this will happen and if it does remember I said here first. I just hope my foreshadowing comes true. Because it would be nice to see the Blue Bomber make an surprise appearance by way of Frank.

Virgil is looking so broken it's ridiculous. He can't be zoned out like his brother, with the oroborus swords & teleport he'll have of the most broken incoming character mixups in the game, start combos from 3/4 screen playing offence or defense. An anti zoning character screen filling super complemented by xfc in the air. A version of his sword super which forces you to block any where onscreen by attaching delayed projectiles on your head while you eat telaport/assist mixups. Capcom just doesn't care anymore

Sorry!, but that logic is retarded, there're many other things that makes a fighter a good character besides the fact of people using him for being OP to get a easy win. The fact is, no matter how powerful Capcom makes this character to some of us he still won't fit the game, we would still think he is a waste of a slot and still think that any other character is better than him. We think he is trash because he is a stupid character who's only gimmick is to say OBJECTION! and we know that people obsessively requested this character to giggle like little school girls when he does so.

come on no one needs to complain. Yes i can understand the anger of certain characters that deserve to be in UMVC3 but just think of the future of the MVC series. who knows what they'll do with characters in the future. kinda glad that old and new characters get to shine for now. maybe gene from godhand and venom will return someday. just not yet. patience is a good reward my friends :)
