Another Excellent Painting! You're awesome dude!
Nice painting, but This is based Alvin Lee's Street Fighter legends sakura cover.
I can appreciate fan art for what it is, but copying it from another artist and ESPECIALLY reselling it for money, I cannot condone. As a graduated animation and illustrative artist working at Ubisoft, this kind of work doesn't do it for me. Even the commentating feels a bit forced for laughter, but maybe it's for the younger crowd.
If you decide to draw your own design of your character and then paint it, I'll give it some props.
@ Rawblogics Dude try going to his website theLeftHandedMonkey.com and you'll see more original art than your hating ass can handle. And yeah you're probably to old and bitter to appreciate another artist! So what if he sells it! More power to him. You say ur an artist then you know how hard it is to make a living at it. Fool.
@ ryuhayabusa13 Yeah we all knew that already haha
@Yakaveli
Calm down their turbo. The first thing you learn in art school is to learn how to give and receive critiques. I am specifically talking about this painting, and not his career as an artist, so back up-off me before you think I am "hating" on him. And his collection, btw, is not overwhelming as you so implied.
I do know how hard it is to make it and I have. Don't sit there and lecture me about knowing how to appreciate art, son. It DOES matter if he sells someone else's original content, legally, morally, and most importantly for his career name as an artist. The least he could of done was credit Alvin Lee's work for the original pose and idea, and all would be good. Because once you cross that line as a plagiarizer in this industry, you're fuking done.
But no, he didn't, and you're on his jock defending something you are not even close to understanding. Learn a thing or two before you jump to someone's defense, Yak.
@ Rawblog Dude he didn't trace the damn thing. If u painted a damn flower is that plagiarizing god? Don't talk to me like im a child because you work at ubisoft haha. He depicted Sakura in his own manner with with Lee's image. No different than that damn Obama photo on t-shirts debate.
And he did give Alvin Lee credit in his description below! Omg. I didn't lecture you about appreciating art, I said appreciating another artist. He does this for his channel because they asked him to. Know the story before you "critique."
@Yak
Well you wanted to talk direct sht to me about being old and that I was a "hating ass". Plagerizing art is very gray and crappy area to get involved in, believe me I've had friends fall victim to it unintentionally and others who tried to get through school by copying. All this god, flowers, and obama, talk is irrelevant. He referenced a link, and not the artist's name, and yea, that might be picky, but from artist to artist (him) he should be more cautious. I understand his friends/fans ask him. I read that already, believe me. I just spoke my mind about looking out for your own ass, it's common knowledge as a professional and if he's ever to become one it's a good (and easy) angle to cover.
So regardless of his "story", and his "requests" for fan art, it's something he should look into.
Hell, contact UltraDavid and ask him, lol.
@ Rawblogics ALright, you know I don't want to do this back and forth thing anymore. You have your thoughts and we'll just leave it at that. Art is a very gray area when it comes to plagiarizing, I'll give you that. Peace out man. Hey best wishes to your artistic endeavors too. Good luck to the Monkey also. To each his own. Peace. Love. SSF4 :P
@Yak
Agreed! Well said man. And if you ever wanna play on Xbox:
XBL: L0giks
hit me up. :D

That's called 'drawing from life' and it's the most challenging thing an can artist can do. Turning a real world 3D form into a convincing 2D painting takes an immense amount of talent. Copying someone else's 2D painting is orders of magnitude easier since all of the work has been done for you.
i can see hes a good painter but holy mother of god those proportions!!!! he was so worried about getting the face right that he didn't even realize the proportions were all wrong. or maybe he did but just didnt care enough to fix it....which is a shame.
Proportions all wrong. Second face was better. And I'm pretty sure Frosted Flakes taste different now because ppl's pallette's (sp?) change as they get older. And yeah, the original artwork for this pose was WAAAAAY better.
crappy version of alvin lees sakura udon comic cover.. i can draw way way better then this guy lol
He needs to work on his proportions and anatomy. Copying someone's work or not, there's no excuse for bad proportions.
Personal style or not, it looks pretty bad. Disproportionate body parts can look good if it suits the theme/style; it doesn't for this.
I think the artwork is good. I think it's lame that he is copying another artist and not giving credit. He does not give credit on his website where he sells the artwork. It IS a big deal, because this type of thing waters down Alvin Lee's creativity.
What if you put copies of another persons song on your website, didn't credit them, and sold it for money? It's exactly the same concept.
I really hope he keeps going with his art, but at the same time, not crediting people is the worst thing an "artist" can do. At the very least he could have wrote "inspired by"...
Honestly I don't think the painting is that great but knowing that if i was to pick up a brush and some paint it would be hard for me to paint a stick so his painting aint that bad either. And for those of you out there who say you can do better than this than i hope your making some money off your hobby cause by the looks of his ebay account he definetly is.
Awesome art. : P
