I'm done with the game, unless any of my friends come over to play it. I've finished it with everyone, got all achievements, done all trials.....sigh!
It was fun while it lasted. The matchmaking was annoying as hell.
@1
It's your loss. It's such a nice package. And for $15.00 you can't beat it. It's too bad you folks were Brainwashed by 10 years of Japanese tournament videos.
It's a bit different in the real world. Besides, I'll bet half the ppl saying "No Re-Bal, No Buy", don't have the Exp to know wtf they are talking about anyway.
If you had a clue it would be because your an Old school player, and you would have bought it anyway because you know how good it is.
The ppl that cry and didn't buy. They are the new players that simply listen to what they've heard. "Three characters blah blah blah".
Sad.
I'm sorry for the guy that posted that he is done with the game, I understand his position because the online is rather annoying. I am going to give this game a second go once the patch comes out and if there is not any drastic improvements than I am through with this game as well.
Dudley? Probably because the entire SRK board that never played 3s decided to see what it's like to have him be good. Everyone online is Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Chun, or Yun and that's basically how it was in the arcade and that's fine. People who complain about rebalancing are whatever. There is a point in there somewhere, but there also isn't since the amount of characters that people in Japan play and are competitive with is way different than the numbers in the US. US players don't want to put the time in to learn the other characters and that's totally understandable; however, I doubt most Chun's and Yun's that are online really use the character to the max potential, so there isn't much of an argument to begin with. Capcom honestly didn't release the game to cater to people who are brand new to the game. Besides, brand new gamers would drop it anyway because you have to freaking execute moves properly without easy mode shortcuts for everything.
3so was really lackluster, no input display, crap match making , most if not all the "extra" content was ass, only good things were the filters and original game -_-
I <3 this game! The downsides for me are the hard to find ranked match, no input display, and no separate control for music and sound effects volume. I hope they add hitbox display.
For those of you calling for a rebalanced mode, just chill out. This will never be a tournament game, so what does it even matter?
What makes input display so important? There is no plinking.
Awesome. I hope I can get some matches now finally. I love 3S!
Scrubs just love making excuses for why they lose. Tier Lists being a great excuse for them, even though tier lists don't matter at their low skill level. Even if the game was rebalanced the whiners would still whine. There would still be a character on the top for them to whine about.
Lol @ people wanting a rebalance for a game thats been out for 10 years already and that hadn't been rebalanced or re-released until now.
Every pro fighter calls this the perfect game already why would you want them to potentially ruin the game ._.
I'd buy III strike in a heartbeat and I'm a new school SF player. :)
My reasons for not getting it have nothing to do with rebalance, because III strike is not about casual gameplay.
However, the amount of annoying/game breaking bugs was pretty off putting. Once most of these are fixed, I'll check it out.
@MALDA Keep destroying them. I'm sure soon they'll quite out of frustration and you'll be left with pros (who in turn will destroy you). =P
3S is a good game. It's not my favorite and I don't even consider it to be a Street Fighter title in all reality but whatever.
3SO however is awful. This patch is much needed but I feel it's already too late.
Day 1 the majority of my friendslist were playing the game... then they all gradually stopped.
Maybe they just don't prefer the engine and are too accustom to IV but I really think it's simply because the game was a train wreck. Not even specifically talking about ranked... Endless battle was awful too. People losing their spots in line. The game just standing still forcing you to create a new lobby. Black screens for fighters forcing them to start over...
For all the hype and all the talk they really screwed up royally and I doubt the majority of people will even bother coming back.
No one is denying that the online aspect of the game is absolutely horrible. I don't like a lot of things about SF4, but the way they did their online for the most part was very nice.
@Darkyellow
its input display -_- I'm using it to check my inputs...
The awesome thing about 3SO.....it made try to parry again in SF4 AE. I initially had that problem when I first played SF4 vanilla :)
For what? The only thing you need input display for is to see if you plinked or kara'd something that's pretty hard to tell whether you've done it or not like karashoryu. Everything else you can honestly just tell that you did the right input by seeing what's one the screen.
@Darkyellow
If your failing a certain motion I would like to think you'd want to see what it is your failing also just because the move comes out doesn't mean I'm doing it right I mean I didn't realize how often I was using the shortcut for HCF until I played older games.
@iloveolives
Not trying to sound mean in the least but what the heck were the ten years that proceeded this relaunch was about then? It was played throughout those years and this may be surprising but it even had some tournaments here and there. So if they decide to bring it back for a major tourney, it should not be surprising. I mean regardless what any of us say, a game that has survived that long has obviously done something right, even if some gamers of today do not agree or see it. I think once, if ever, the street fighter IV series gets up there in years of playtime, then the arguement of which is good and which is bad would make more sense... Unless... This game gets another ten years... lol.
It is different from the street fighters of today, but what do you expect.. its a decade old.. and it was stated many times this game played differently so everyone knew what to expect. As for rebalancing... If they did that, it would not be arcade perfect anymore. But from what I have heard of HD remix and how you do not really see it played at tourneys anymore...I guess maybe messing with at game that had many years of success... Is not a great idea. If it aint broke, don't fix it.. And none of them are broke.. Maybe newcomers just need to be "fixed" <3
Not to sound like a dick, but I played 3s and SF2 before SF4 with its retarded shortcuts so I don't have those problems, so I never really thought about that.
How about we all stop blaming on tier lists for our losses? I mean damn, you guys sound like a bunch of tier whores. I mean if you like using Chun-Li, then use Chun-Li! If you like using Yun, then use Yun! Nobody is stopping you.
Damn, everyone is just so damn insecure.
@Darkyellow
you don't sound like a dick you just sound ignorant of the there are other devices you can play games on, not everyone has started out on a stick so having input display helps a lot when learning something new, I started playing on a stick during ssf4 and before was using pad on older games and now I'm thinking about picking up a hitbox but am practicing on my keyboard since I don't have the money to spare yet.
3so is not to bad,when i was playing ranked i play Sean so i think I've only played 5 chuns total there is,More kens thin anything.But the ones that give me the most trouble are the Makotos and the Akumas lol so tuff to beat them but i still have fun trying.Well hope this patch fixes a lot of the problems that people are have in and hope they can try to enjoy this game.
Rebalance? Can anyone smell another SF2THDR? Remember how popular that is online?
Though but seriously, they should make it like SSF4:AE, with an option to switch between both versions. One for people to pick between those who want to play the og version like me and darkyellow and rebalanced version for the tier followers/complainers but im sure we'll have another SF2THDR on our hands if they make it complusary to play as the rebalance. Basically as it wont be the game the fans actually remember which was the same problem with turbo HD remix
@darkyellow A input display should have been included at the minimum though. They said they wanted to appeal to new players aswell as the cult following, and with the SF4 shortcuts and leinancy, they need to learn how to get it out their systems. There were a few fine details plus exta features they could have included
In my mind 3S is the greatest fighting game in history 2d art amazing the system flawless I bought 3SO the day t came out and I have more than got
My 15 bucks out of it this game is the only fighter I have ever gave a 10
The way the SF community defends SF3 likes its some sort of God is childish, silly, and makes me laugh. :)
People who dont respect the things that 3S brought to fighters were probably born in the 90's
@faQU:
Walk the walk and stop playing completely. Stop posting while you're at it.
Chun - Mostly button mashers, no threat. I'm beating all the Chuns I meet in 3SO with Hugo, for goodness sake.
Yun - LOL. I played 3 good Yuns so far that used Geneijin, 1 used it well. Over 99% of the Yuns I played used SA1orSA2.
I doubt you even played 3SO. If you did, you'd be complaining about Shotos, mostly Kens and Ryus.
@faQU
welcome to the scrab club, if you happen to play SSFIV, I introduce you to Ken or Ryu where dp mashing, jab kara throws, cross tetsu all day will pretty much own anyone below average skill level, if you happen to play 3OS, well then just give up.
Yea and for people saying there are only 2 good characters or whatever I bet you give a highly skilled player Sean or twelve and he will spank that a** in the right hands any of these characters can be deadly like all capcom games people just don't put the time in get whooped then complain nerd this buff that rebalance that's some bit** sh*** man up
@27 - Spoken like a true newfag who has no idea what they're talking about.
@faQU
No, it's not surprising that Kuroda or Kokujin or YSB or Genki are not good at SF4. SF4's system is almost the polar opposite of SF3's. There are so many mechanics that favor defense, any 3s player would have a hard time adjusting. What are you trying to say? The only thing you're saying right now is that you're an idiot that hasn't realized that people who have played SF3 for years can't adjust to SF4's system because it is completely different. Is that really so hard to imagine? Living in Japan means nothing. I went to Japan and beat scrubs at Big Box in 3s and I'm not great by any means. If you really wanted to beat the best of the best you'd go to Gamespot. Also, on a completely different tangent if you look at SBO teams for 3s they are completely different than what you would see in the US. The fact that team RX was RX (Urien), Roshi(Yang), and Sugiyama(Necro) and they got to grand finals shows that we are quick to dismiss chars because of the tier list. Again, what's your point?
#48
I was commenting on your opinion about chun and yun, why you change the subject by bring up Kuroda, SSFIV and all these other bs about who you use or where you live? You could learn a few things from those japanese players like shut up and just learn the damn game instead of bitching about chun and yun.
He brings it up because he doesn't have a real argument that he can articulate so he changes the subject.
@faqu
Also you do know that in 3s alot of characters have instant stun combos right, and unblockables right? with the combination of the parry system its pretty clear to say that any character has decent chance to win.
I dont hate SF3. My life just doesnt revolve around it and around letting the internet know how "great" a video game is. :) I'll leave that to some of you.
SF3 is garbage !! I have enough of this bull sh*t game. Let it die already please. Move on people. Go outside and see the new world of FG, but if you want to stay in your cave than so be it, I pity you !!
its alright game, no need to kill urselves over it, capcom is making the money, we are here bitching bout the game, just play and enjoy it. meanwhile i've met pros and newcomers alike, most pros use Urien, my Remy has been giving people mad headaches..lol..i have had people disconnect on me and text me evil words and rants...lol...the joys of online gaming...peace everyone..
I laugh at all these scrubs asking for rebalancing, there obviously in love with AE lololololololol
@heroscapper
why do you jump to the conclusion that people who plays 3s dont play any other games? Faqu says he dislikes 3s because of chun and yun, what are your reasons? don't like the game, move along, simple as that, whats with the hate and sh@t? and no dont pity me, with that attitude of yours, I pity you.
SF3 was/is fun
SF4 was/is fun
Who really gives a $hit beyond that. I played 3s for 10+ years waiting for 4. I love 3s!
But now I pretty much play 4 exclusively.
Both great games for different reasons. No need to bash it because it isn't YOUR game of choice.
@Aluppoj
I agree, sf4 is good in its own way. I don't think its an awful game but its shortcuts and leinancy of combo has made players to used to autocorrect.
Plus rebalancing the game would possibly isolate and even turn off its og fans, especially if there is not an option especially online to play as the orignal version. It would be like changing SF2....oh wait hahaha. When they talk about Chun-li and Yun of the online players skills, they pretend like they're all tournament worthy players when 99% is nowhere near. Ken and Ryu players have actually been the nearest to this personally, with Dudley, Akuma, and Urien closely behind them.
Saying all this, i dont know why they listen and get baited by the same posters. FAQU and Lyn never post no creative critism and just resort to trashing anything and everything. Trolling is getting easier for them.
@61
Agree on all points.
To add to our discussion. My views on Short cuts, input leniency and auto correct aren't the most popular ones. I actually think all of the above are really cool features!
Hear me out.
At the base level: I was coming from SF2 and 3. So I'd input all of the moves properly. So short cuts had virtually no affect on my game. Maybe a few small adjustments on my two in ones.
At the Advanced level: All three of the systems I listed above become advanced tacktics. If you learn to manipulate the SC, IL and AC you can use them to your advantage! In many cases you can even create combos that could NEVER be performed without them.
Example: Guile's FK FADC Ultra 2. This combo utilizes input leniency. Without it this combo does not exist.
Sol good. Just saying.
You hardcore purists (myself included) need to understand something. Short Cuts perform one major function.
It opens the game up to casuals. I've seen ppl that couldn't perform any moves in SF2/3 enjoy the heck outta sf4.
Are these players really a threat to us at an advanced level? No. It just means they'll have more fun playing. Actually buy the game. Make Capcom money. And by default, get us Hardcore more games and content.
See, it's a good thing.
Besides, I don't see Poongko dropping combos and yelling about short cuts. Or any pro for that matter. If short cut are still bothering you after three years I'd say you may be the problem.
Up Your Game.
@Jerry
I'm sorry that your having that problem bro. I suggest you slow down a bit on your combos.
I've completed the Combo trials to 100% three times.
Vanilla
Super
And after my PS broke I did it again for the titles and icons lol.
Shortcuts give me no problems in real matches as well. If you watch any Desk combo video, or any high level tournament recap I'm sure you'll see that SF4 is an execution heavy game.
IMO, it sounds like you need more practice. And don't spaz the inputs after the first SRK. Slow down.
I can't really say.
I'd imagine your heavily mashing the second input. Causing the game to read a "Shortcut".
I main Chun Li now, but used Ryu for the first two games. So I have experience with what your saying.
Super into Ultra is really easy. Sorry to say that, and I'm not talking smack. I'd say you go into the training room and practice it until you correct the problem.
You should be finishing the second quarter circle for Ultra just as the Super makes contact with you opponent.
SF3 has strict execution on button inputs. But so does SF4. And more important in SF4 is the timing of the button inputs. In SF3 you cam go freaking crazy fast with your inputs. Everything connects. SF4 has a Tom of 1 and 2 frame links. Sometimes slowing down a bit is the key.
Hope this helps.
I'v been playing SF casually since 97 and it wasn't until IV where I started getting serious with the series. That being said, I love IV but I never really got a chance to play 3S. But as soon as this version came out I understand why ppl have been asking for it. Both games are great in different ways. I love the parry system in 3S (though I'm not very good at it) and hope they re-visit that mechanic in future SF games, hopefully then I'd get a chance to parry with Cammy :)
3s is fun when u play it for just that...fun. but not when ur trying to reach the highest levels to play in tourney.Cuz at the highest levels 3s is a 3 char game (5 at most).which the parry system is partially responsible for but mostly cuz of poor char design in terms of chars damaging options available after a successful parry.
the parry system is a double edged sword.it can defend against any attack and prevents the chip kills 3s fans all say makes older sf's inferior.but on the other hand it also makes nothing safe and seemingly makes traditional zoning take a back seat and reduces the game to footsies,hit confirms,meaties and grab mixups.ranged fighting is also more or less non existent.
3s is an aquired taste not suited for everyone. but I must say 3s is far from the perfect fg(neither is 4).only reason ppl never stopped for 10+ yrs is cuz it was all we had for 10 yrs.Once a new game came along the majority of the player based jumped ship and only the fans that couldn't let go and/or adjust to the new system remained.even now with 3sO the majority still lies with what's current as it will always be.not cuz its better cuz that's a matter of opinion but cuz its current. there's no such thing as a perfect fg only one ur best at.
Region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching, region matching;
*Catches breath*
REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING, REGION MATCHING.
No, I'm not trolling, but that how serious this game needs region matching!
@37
Born in the 70's. SF3 was the game that made me stop playing Street Fighter until recently. Not saying it's a bad game, but your "born in the 90's comment" is just ignorant without saying exactly "what" it did actually bring to the fighting game scene except a bunch of elitist jerks from what I've seen.
I hate patches. They just give companies reason to put out incomplete games, and then dangle the possibility of the games getting fixed via patches.
This game needs:
regional matchmaking. Im tired of seeing red/orange connections from people in other countries.
Player matches need to be totally revamped. Only being able to have 8 person rooms is plain dumb. Yes, you can use private slots to limit the number of players in the room, but that's just a crappy workaround.
Searching player matches is terrible. Everything you refresh you get the exact same results. The player match results screen shoukd tell you which characters are banned and whether the room is pro style or not . I can't stand pro style. Why the are the rounds 60 seconds? So dumb.
I'm done ranting, but there's plenty more to complain about.
shoulda featured a rebalanced mode... i will never buy!!
