I like better the second one, but I DEMAND Storm in there. The Leader of the X-Men needs to be on cover.
Also Chris looks weird on that cover, it me a minute to tell.
I don't like the big skull-head at the foreground on the second cover. So much DEATH. Give us classy characters on the forefront as an option as well: Storm, Chun-li, Ryu, Thorn, you get the vibe... but I understand that they SHOULD highlight the new characters on the cover, it's good for business.
#12 Phoenix Wright already got a free pass, now you want to give him the main spot in the cover too? Didn't Capcom promise a cover to Deadpool? I want my Deadpool only cover!
On a serious note, I'd love to see a simple background with tiny images of all characters, and simply UMvC3 logo in the foreground.
The first one is very, very good, but something rubs me wrong, Vergil looks like Cable there among other details on the style, maybe I'm the problem.
Shinkiro art is my pick, but I don't like the fact Hawkeye is the central figure or Hulk bragging about using the internets.
I don't know ¿maybe hiring Hiroaki? That might solve everything... and I mean... everything.

I say keep the 1st cover art, BUT... have the guy or team who drew the second one redraw it for them... Lol.
I like the art style for the first one, but the layout is too messy.
I don't like the style of the second one, but the layout is more tolerable.
Overall... I like the special edition box for the first game. That was one of the most badass boxes ever. Made of metal and 4 pieces of awesome artwork (especially the front cover).
Even though the concept of the first cover is better for MvC3 (more characters, more action), the art does not lend itself well to the Capcom characters.
...But I still don't see why Hawkeye gets top billing on the second cover. I would have rather seen almost any other new character aside from him in the center.
If Hsien Kos face was not covered by the stupid ESRB rating, i would love the second one...
I like the Mark Brooks one more because it features all the new characters and both Rocky and Nova have prominent spots. :)
@42: Agreed. Hawkeye's ass needs to be moved off the front of that cover and get his ass to the back or just not be on the front at all. Second one all the way through; I'm not dealing with another crappy artwork on my box cover. But...move Hsien-Ko's face or give us an artbook that shows her face without the rating box covering it.
I think the 2nd cover art is better.It's more of a serious look and vibe too it.The first one is nice,but its too colorful & cartoony :P So I say the 2nd one :)

Why are there no female characters in the Mark Brooks artwork? It's not enough that NONE of the new characters in UMvC3 is female, they have to be completely trivialized by not even appearing on the cover?

tell me people why its so important for cover art to have many characters because i don't understand LOL...i mena like its not that those are going to be missed from game so...dunno i don't understand, or that is because you're going to stare to your cover CD for like 24|7 non stop saying like "WOW what a cover art its amazing i Loooove it..." etc...
The 2nd one looks better by a long shot. I don't care really, I'm just ready to for it to be released.
^Exactly, the first one (not Shinkiro's) has lots of potential, is more eye catchy from far, yet it looks unpolished from up-close.
I go with Shinkiro's version.:)

The Brooks cover features ALL 12 NEW CHARACTERS and four of the most iconic characters in the game (Ryu, Wolverine, Thor and Chris Redfield).
1.) There are no new female characters so they aren't on the cover as a new character.
2.) There is no female character on the roster even close to the iconic level as the other four guys.
Nothing more annoying than feminists.

The second one is far more superior and capcom knows this, that's why it will be the main cover regardless of votes. I can't believe people actually like the first one better than the second, I am befuddled by this.
Look at Chris Redfield, he looks more like Chris Frankenstein, mixed with a little bit of elephant man! Are you kidding me?
Phoenix Wright looks like DJ Pauly (from jersey shore) with a suit and tie on. Are you kidding me?

first one it's not bad. just sorta seems like everyone is just... there. it is very active however. i fee like capcom has spoiled me. most comic covers you don't see so much activity and after years of seeing 'subtle' sneaking-every-cast-member-in-one-shot by the likes of shinkiro, bengus and etc. little things like character size has given me a jaded, biased opinion.
brooks work is great, but like comics [and anything without capcom really, less is more]
@78 yeah, I know that already BUT, the second one will be the main cover. Meaning when you go into the store to pick your copy up, that, being the second picture is what you'll see on the box. Then once you've got it, you can crack it open and swap the very best cover picture with the very horrendous secondary cover picture, which would be picture #1. It's just GOD AWFUL!

That Mark Brooks picture is seriously horrible. Professional? No. More characters? Doesn't matter. He's a better artist than that picture. Looks like the placement and colors were done by a five year old, and it looks like put zero effort into proportions and powerful poses.
Shinkiro all day everyday. We're never going to see a Marvel artist actually put forth an effort into any of this promotional artwork for the game.
I don't wanna be to hard on the first picture, it's pretty good as a stand alone picture but, it's absolutely dreadful when compared to the second picture. If this wasn't an competition then the first picture would be fine but, since this is a competition the first one loses in a 50 point blowout! 100 to 50! The artwork in the second picture alone is just incredible. Shinkiro can draw his ass off, he should draw all of capcom's covers. He did the TVC cover as well if im not mistaken, and that cover was quite epic too might I say. Brooks, keep up the great work but, in this situation you are inferior, sorry.
Mark Brooks version is a BIG PILE OF VOMIT! The obvious choice is Shinkiro's because of its obvious ascetics.

Its all just opinions and opinions can't be wrong BUT, they can be stupid and that's what we have here, stupid opinions from those who picked the first picture as being the better of the two. Anywho, im ready for some more reveals, new gameplay videos, a cinematic trailer or something... ANYTHING!
First one stinks. The second one is better, but some drawing styles (Hulk esp) are incongruous.

The first one looks like something my friend drew in art class... when we were 12yrs old in the 6th grade. I'm 27 now, shame on you Mark Brooks for such shenanigans.

Man, I've been a fan of Mark Brooks' art for years time but I feel like lately his faces are going downhill... like too much detail making them look old, pretty much the problem with Vergil. Definitely would pick Shinkiro's art though, I think its clean and polished and fits the look of the game.
I think people need to be more critical of Shinkiro's work. It's far too easy of a pick because of it's fanbase. Most of the people here are not comic book fans. Still, it's made for fun.
Shinkiros piece looks very sylized and clean, good use of colors and the composition is clean. Some of the problems i have with it as I do with all his work is all the characters look the same. Look at Ryu's face compared to Hawkeye or Wolverine. The eyes, the nose, the facial structure, it's like he uses the same skeletal reference from every KOF game. Shinkiro is not taking any risk in this one and playing it safe and thats where Shinkuro loses me. Again with the composition, it's very starwarsy, we've seen this before, i'd like to see him try something different here.
Marks does'nt have that stylized finish look that makes shinkuros pieces stand out but I love how different the characters are. Every face and skeletal structure is different and he takes soem chances with some of the harder characters like Pheonix Wright and Strider. The variety of colors is well done too and everyone actually looks like they are doing something and not just trying to look pretty.
Im gonna vote Mark because he took some chances and stepped out of his comfort zone and did a good job. I hope the rest of you guys step out of yours and judge the pieces with a different set of eyes. This is coming from an artist perspective.
#128 i understand what you're saying, but there're many different ways how you can make characters look different from each other than what those dude Mark did...i mean like really these tiny shrinked eyes, those ryu's expression like he's in some kind of disease...irespect your opinion and i agree that characters should look different from each other, but Mark didn't just make them look different from each other, but also he made them look retarded...
2nd by a long shot. I like the 1st for its roster of characters,but they look strange. But in all truth I wish we could get a different Shinkiro cover art featuring all the new added characters. Something close to the SE of MvC3 cover would be nice.

@128 i hear what your saying but i completely disagree,i like Marks work it has character,but to me Shinkiro takes the cake any day.To me Marks Nemesis and Raccoon look really cool but his more humanoid characters fall flat to me,while Shinkiros seems to really capture the esence of every character, look at his V.Joe,Phoenix,and Ghost Rider skull,very different skeletal structures all very well done,Shinkiros got the mad skillz.

Character choice-wise... interesting difference. The first one does have all the new characters which is emphasising how this is a new release, that's good. Also it receives special points with me cause "Phoenix Wright! <3". But where's my freaking women at? Especially Chun-Li!? A freaking VS cover without Chun?
Second cover overall, hands down. It's no masterpiece though, and that's not just me being salty about having no Objection Man =)
