Tokyo Game Show, Japan – September 15th, 2011 – Razer™, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, just announced a program to co-develop the ultimate arcade stick for the Xbox 360® together with the arcade stick community. The arcade stick, developed with pro-gamer feedback, is currently at the prototype stage. For the finishing touches, up to 200+ specially selected top-seed Street Fighter™ IV pro-gamers, influential modders, and members of the arcade enthusiast community will each be given a Razer arcade stick to test and provide feedback to further improve it to perfection, whereupon the final design will then proceed to production.
Since the company’s beginnings in ’98, Razer has continually taken pro-gamer feedback and validation during the product development phase to ensure that the design for every gaming product shipped is the absolute best for the competitive edge in tournament-grade play. But in an unprecedented move in the gaming hardware space, Razer is now reaching out to the entire arcade stick community to help make this yet-to-be-named product the best arcade stick in the world. Their feedback will be a huge influencing factor in the design of the final product.
“Razer is for gamers, by gamers. We’ve been taking feedback from our professional players on products for years and now we want to open it up to the community. That’s why we want every arcade enthusiast and modder’s input in the development of this special arcade stick,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President, Razer USA. “In this way, it’s not just our arcade stick; it’s the community’s arcade stick. Together, we will create a weapon that delivers the best fighting performance for every gamer and allows modding to the individual’s exact specifications. We’re not just asking people for input on the paint job, we’re after serious hardware feedback.”
Members of the arcade community worldwide interested in participating in this beta program are encouraged to contribute ideas at www.razerzone.com/bredtofight, along with a short description as to why they should be selected for prototype testing. Registrants can also nominate other people to the program. Up to 200+ successful applicants worldwide will receive an arcade stick prototype delivered directly to their homes.
Razer will be launching this non-retail arcade stick closed beta community program at Tokyo Game Show, the heart of the professional console fighting scene. Select pro-gamers and key modders will also be approached very soon to begin beta testing the prototype.
A massive fail already for making it 360 only .
If thy cared that much about delivering a top of the line quality product , they'd aim for something both other big sticks names never provide , and yet done on a regular basis by amateurs : a ps3/360/pc stick .
I only use madcatz sticks because they are the best money can buy......PLUG. Cut the check madcatz lol
This could work out if they do what worked well with the TE but make it have additional features. The option to be compatible with HAPP sticks would be nice.
the qanba q4raf stick on focusattack.com comes with dual mod 360/ps3
wheres my $$ for the plug?
I don't really see anything creative or unique on that to be worth buying, unless they're planning on significantly undercutting madcatz. Odds are it'll be the same price or more. Probably just an effort to get in the market cause there's money in it.
We'll see.
Brilliant marketing. That's probably the press release word for word. As for the stick ]\\\\cccccccccccf ( < the cat wrote this bit by walking straight across my keyboard ) I would say I don't really have any complaints with the MadCatz sticks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_oxk1...

Another stick manufacturer? Video gaming is starting to become like the music industry. You throw a few names around, some hype around something underground, and all these mogul idiots start milking every single grain of soul from it.
This looks exactly like a TE stick, so that's -1, there's already a lot of good sticks out there, -1, people are really going to fork up another $150+ for a piece of plastic with some buttons on it... Again? Please.
This looks exactly like a TE stick. +1
there's already a lot of good sticks out there... and now here's another one. More Choices +1

Are you some kind of retard? Not everyone out there has an arcade stick.
I've been waiting for something like this for a while now. A simple black arcade stick that won't cost me 200-300 dollars from some custom stick shop.
I can honestly say I'm happy for this. I finally have enough steady income to afford a TE stick. Considering the new SFxT TE sticks look like cheap fisher price toys I know who I'll be shelling out a bill and a half to.
I like the button layout. More american styled than any other stick out there except an arcade-in-a-box maybe.
But I can bet you already this being a razer product means it's going to be incredibly overpriced.
I'm kiiiind of a Razer whore so I'm pretty much forced to convert to one of these :(
@17 Helgen if Razer makes this product comparable to the RAP VLX premium and as easy to customize I don't really see the problem. More choice and it may actually cause other manufacturers to lower their prices (or stop repainting sticks and actually include some other features) on sticks. Knowing Razer though, it may as well be overpriced already.
I don't understand what your little rant was for though, if you don't want a product, don't buy it or even better make your own stick. Nothing is wrong with more companies taking notice of the FGC and that it's a relatively untapped market, just goes to show how strong the fighting game genre and community is right now.
Knowing Razer, this is going to be fairly-priced, and given the current competition's use of high-quality parts, there isn't a whole lot they can do in order to jack up the price.
Besides, I'm more worried about the quality. The Razer Onza is, hands down, the best console controller on the market currently, and it runs ten bucks cheaper than first-party offerings. The problem is that the first run of the product was littered with defects. I sent mine back a couple of weeks ago but just got a replacement that, out-of-the-box, is far superior to the one that they rushed off the assembly line and sent to me the first time around. Here's hoping the stick turns out well. Maybe they'll even offer their HyperResponse mouse-style buttons like the Onza has. That might be pretty interesting.
be nice if we could get a stick made without this 8 button preschool sh!t
Ugh, that default layout.
Lay it out like the TE SF sticks are, and I'll be interested.
