Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Filipino Champ's matches against MarlinPie and ChrisG

Cc.coL|Filipino Champ (Magneto, Sentinel, Phoenix) put up a few Marvel vs. Capcom 3 sets that happened back at EVO 2011 against AG|MarliePie (C. Viper, Magneto, Amaterasu) and LB|ChrisGNY (Amaterasu, Ryu, Wesker).

These are all first to 5 sets and feature some very high level MvC3 players going head to head, you can hit the jump for the ChrisG video.

Filipino Champ also has some SSF4 AE matches on his YouTube channel linked above, and the Cross Counter NorCal YouTube page.

Yeah he got WORKED. Then Phoenix, then 2 seconds later he won. His strategy is so obvious.

I assume we'll see more of the same in Ultimate

MarlinPie is A LOT better and a much smarter player than Filipino Chimp, but yeah, this is marvel where skill/strategy go out the window as long as you pick the right character

I'd be more interested in these pro games if they didn't always use the top tier characters (Sent, Maggy, Ammy, Phoenix, etc.)...there ARE other characters in the game; i guess it'll tone down when the balance changes are implemented in Ultimate. Other than that, that was some awesome C.Viper playing there, wish I could Vipe like that.

Almost no one played Okami.

Everyone calls her a guy.

But because she is a borderline braindead character, with the smallest hitbox in the game, and an easy f+H chain combo, everyone uses her.

clearly not as easy as you think being that most PRO players lose to her almost all the time. Let me see you beat Viscant, Clockwork, or Champ. I hate how he got destroyed almost every single round then phoenix comes out. West Coast always picks her as well. Hope MarlinPie, Yipes, and Chris G make it big in umvc3

Ammy is REALLY popular, rarely do I play more than 3 games max without someone playing her. Same with Characters like Dante, Hulk, Sent, Zero....Either way, Ammy is played a lot and, as far as I'm concerned, is a really good over-used character.

Clockw0rk will still be relevant simply because his Doom is godlike. If he doesn't use Phoenix, he can end his sick Doom combos with a hyper combo and do serious damage.

And yes that C. Viper was godlike

Same thing that happened to him in AE. He's going to bitch and throw a 1 yr old tantrum because he lose / can't be lame. If you pay attention to Champ's gameplay, he's really no different than other players who uses Magneto, Sent and Dorm. He does the same thing everyone else does unlike Combofiend's Spencer or his Shehulk or Task where he sticks out from the rest of the community. Without Dark Phx, Champ's done. Everyone knows it including himself.

@8 I wouldn't say that, they are both very good players. And I definitely would never say kyohei is a smarter player, Champ is a genius.. and he's a master at keeping is composure. Kyohei is creative and has very good execution. I'd say they matchup about even, I still think viper is just as broken as pheonix though. Marlin agrees.

People hating on P.Champ hard man...They didn't even notice how he won most of his games against chris G with minimal DP.

Champ is a pretty smart and composed play, don't hate him for the way he play, hate him cuz he's a d**k lol, but who isn't sometimes :S

Dark Phoenix was made for the West Coast. YEAH I SAID IT! LOL. Without Phoenix there is no way anybody from the West can beat any top tier East Coast players. Not hating on the West but but every top tier West Coast player uses Phoenix. The only ones from the West that I give props to is Combofiend and Justin (Even though Justin is from the East coast)

He did win those matches without using a lot of DP, but that doesn't mean she didn't have a rather large hand in his victories. Chris had to waste tons of meter pulling out Phoenix and doing Ammy's slow super in order to have a CHANCE of stopping DP from coming out. Basically, by choosing Phoenix, Champ forced Chris to burn all of his resources to kill a single character. Look at some of those "minimal" DP matches. Chris could have killed Mag or Dorm several times, but instead he was forced to burn a meter to bring out Phoenix in the hopes that he could kill her before she tagged out.

This was even more prevalent in Marlin's matches, where the already meter-hungry Viper combos ended with a pull-in instead of a character killing super.

I see waht yyou mean but you still have to give champ his props, in a couple matches he blew up Chris G with out him even getting a solid combo in.

And just like Chris G when Champ could of kill a character champ had to reset since he didn't want to burn the meter.

Regardless of game, Fchamp is just a lame type, whether playing full zone/turtle with Dhalsim or Phoenix/turtle with Dormammu. lawl
