Gamasutra has conducted a quick interview with Yoshinori Ono today. They discuss fighting game user interfaces, potential future games, merging the styles of two different fighting games and so forth. You can see a piece of the interview below and you can catch the rest here.
Gamasutra: In the case of Street Fighter x Tekken, you’re taking two totally separate playing styles and trying to merge them. How do you make this make sense for the player, in terms of gameplay?
Ono: This is a truly challenging task, to be sure. But it is said that the original Tekken team was influenced by SFII when they made Tekken, so there are many aspects of Tekken that do translate well to Street Fighter.
The Street Fighter team was able to use these translatable aspects as a way to connect the two series and come up with a rule set that would make sense to fans of both series. The team is currently hard at work perfecting these rules as we speak [laughs].
I think the gate of entry into a new game is particularly important. We’ve made this game so that Tekken players will be able to use a button input style that they’re used to. It’s our way of preventing people from stumbling their way through that gate of entry.
Tip from Dragon_316.
this wasnt any help at all here is a good question WHEN AREE YOU ADDING JIN ONO!!!!!!!!!!!
Ready Up's podcast which also has an interview with Yoshinori Ono for any one who's interested:
The interview starts around the 01:09:00 mark. Things of note:
Here's the link:

He hints that SFxT will have mini games like Tekken Bowl. Maybe that's what Sean's basketball meant in the character reveal trailer?
Sorry I spliced the link in the middle of my comment! D'oh!
@7
How so? I get the other pictures in the trailer but what's the link between Rolento and the basketball?
MARVEL VS DC! I really hope this eventually happens, just because I want a Bane costume for Juggernaut.
@8 The fact that the stage that was behind the basketball was Metro city,which is the same city that Rolento lives.That's the link between him and the basketball.
@10 Also it was Trollno trying to make you think it was Sean.
Well despite the Troll Flaming alex pic, Because of Ono we have street fighter back and we can expect more. Yeah Marvel Vs DC would only happen as easily as the middle east and US make peace. DIsney and Warner are too big whales who would never be willing to cooperate. Dc and marvel did have crossovers in Comics, but that was before they were owned by these major corporations.
@12: Yeah I am pretty sure that is next after SF VS Tekken. Either that or The Tekken version of the crossover followed by SF5
@10
Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up. Either way mini games like tekken bowl would be fun, especially if they are multiplayer.
@ 13
Guess you've never seen 'Who framed Roger Rabbit?' ;o)
@16 that must be the case or else he wouldn't have said it i'm sure
@17 I don't think Warner and Disney was as greedy back then. Stuff like that was possible and most of the Warner and Disney animators and producers were big friends back then.
Marvel vs. DC would be a licensing nightmare. Look at the influence Marvel hs on their characters in MvC3, if you put DC in the mix it probably would'nt even become Capcoms game anymore. Not as we know it now.
@16. Yeah Who framed roger rabbit was a rarity, back when there wasn't that much rivalry and competition. but those guys (Disney marvel and DC warner) are huge rivals. Do wish that happened if the higher execs who made decisions weren't stuck ups. Keeping fingers crossed.
@14: Nahh, SFV would be too early, the final edition just came out for the IV series (actually, it's not the last version, but v2012 is not a content update as far as we can know for now).
As it happend years and decades ago: Street Fighter came, saw, and conquered the fighting game community of the globe. A new SF game would be pointless, while the current is succesful, the online part is full of players. CAPCOM just let them (us) enjoying it :). Am I right? Please...
@ 20
Yeah your right. I remember in the making of who framed roger rabbit, the director said that both sides were very anal of it. Literally both sets of characters had to have the exact same amount of screen time, to the frame. Can you magine trying to balance a marvel vs dc game so that neither side is stronger?!
But, never say never. Who'd thought SFxT would happen? Like you said, fingers crossed!
"My personal dream is to create "Marvel vs. D.C." before I die. That would make me very happy! "
That is such a powerful statement. I believe in the power of Ono, do you?
Where there's a will, there's a way. Only the gears of time will tell for certain.
@21
sf5 will come for the next gen consoles. thats the best thing capcom does.
Ono said: "I would like to continue taking in feedback from players and incorporate them into an Arcade Edition version upgrade in the future."
I don't know if I'm reading too much into this but I think that means SSF4:AE won't be the last SF4 update, notice he didn't say "the" upgrade that would've mean ver. 2012.
@26 SFV is going to come around 2020, I guarantee it.
@27 He said that after AE they're not releasing any new SF4's, But he never said anything about DLC.
@2 Altho Jin is a given, Seth was in an interview and said jin would be revealed "sometime soon" however its been a few months since then. They probably have him done however they are probably having technical/programming difficulties or balancing issues. It will probably be soon, maybe even next two or the two after those
@30 I'd like to see Street Fighter Beta sometime soon (between 4 & 3 would be best).
looks like im gonna have no idea how to play with tekken characters.
