Capcom employees, Seth Killian and Christian Svensson responded to some complaints from fans about Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition, regarding the online matchmaking and DLC options. Here's a quick recap.
Any news on 3rd strike patch for the broken online matchmaking? So frustrating not getting a game even with 40mb line :-( — Jonnybeadle
Seth Killian: We're trying to wrap a lot of issues together for upcoming patch. Should be good.
I don't understand why there can't be actual content added as DLC (music and colors don't count) Such as, the stages from the previous games... — Burning Typhoon
Svensson: Point one, who said we've divulged everything that's in the works for DLC on SF3?
Second, as for the DLC we are offering, as always, if you see value in it, please purchase it. If you don't, by all means, don't purchase it. It existing doesn't diminish the value of SF3:OE in the least, which is already one of the best values for money on XBLA or PSN.
I think what's going on here... is he's saying he doesn't find value in the current DLC.
And he's asking about ideas he's giving for DLC he considers more valuable. — Storm
Svensson: I totally get it. And I'm saying, somewhat cryptically, "keep giving feedback and perhaps at some point we'll have something he finds of value."
Sources: Capcom Boards and Twitter. Tip from Fawaz.
Does anyone think Sven was kinda mean to Burning Typhoon? :/
This just in:
New Generation and Second Impact stages as DLC just confirmed for 3soe!!!
YAY!!!!

There's nothing wrong with the motions, it's just that you need tighter execution than in SF4. Heck in most other fighting games the execution is a lot less lenient than SF4.
I don't see how people can possibly complain about 3SO, it's an amazing game especially for $15. It's worth way more.
I swear people just cant be happy with it. We asked for 3rd strike online. We got it. Everybody neeeds to stfu about the dlc. if you don't want it don't buy it period. I for one am happy that i actually can play 3s.
@2: Firstly, no. he told him the truth. If he likes it, buy it. If not, don't buy it. All of the offered stuff is cosmetic and in no way necessary, changing to, or detracting from the game. That's the best kind of DLC, next to free DLC. It's why I hate ANY character DLC (unless it's free).
Secondly...isn't Burning Typhoon being kinda mean to not only the people whow ant the extra colors and musical pieces, but also the creators of the music and colors?
How do music and costumes somehow count less than stages as DLC when they are ALL cosmetic window-dressing and icing on the cake that is the game?
FEEDBACK FOR CAPCOM:
We do not find value in the current DLC offerings for you fighting games, ESPECIALLY color and costume alternates.
They are overpowered, and often not worthy because most people only use a few characters, and there's little point of picking a look that only few others can see, also that don't even show up in the replay.
It would be like design cars in Forza Mortorsport and only be able to showcase to a few people, and not even in the replay.
SUGGESTIONS for worthwhile DLC (I don’t expect Capcom to come with everything or anything in the blink of an eye, just throwing out a few ideas):
Anything that enriches the gameplay experience (modes), that encourages creativity and sharing, and stuff that encourages community interaction.
E.g.:
1. More online options and ways to customize the sessions and matches;
2. True in-game in-depth character dynamic character guides that encourage practicing set-ups, character match-ups, and strategies (reversals, frame data, etc...) [this should be designed for to be managed by the community, so all of the information, challenges (record inputs), and demos (replay) would be voted, and categorized according to characters, offense, defense, rush-down, zoning, skill (beginner, intermediate, veteran, expert), authorship, and date of last update;
3. Online training mode;
4. Customizable stages with in-game props and items (maybe like Forge);
5. Color editing mode;
6. Community ratings (players would rate each other according to the style of play);
7. Clans based on style of play/character choice/skill/dedication, improved Team-battle mode, or simple identity;
8. Character-specific story mode (origins, development, ending)--the presentation could be like a motion comic, text-based adventure, include key fights that we get to play or watch, ending based on the ideal storyline for the character or the canon main plot of the game—it is a fun a way to allow the story to be told from the point of view of one character, instead of the basic overarch that makes certain character well developed, and others futile (cheesy is fine, futile is not.)
Again these are just suggestion off the top of my head.
You should fix your ability to do motions and not do the easy input crap that SF4 has. d,d/f,d/f = lolwut shoryuken.
I would like the old stages to go with the old music as the New Generation and Second Impact stages are way more atmospheric, especially Dudley's.

Nobody is happy period, until they get what they want. I hate it when people whine, cry, bitch, and moan about it.
People complain about capcom so much it's ridiculous
Everyone wanted a new MVC game they got it a new SF game they got it
3S they got it SFxT seriously who doesn't want that I can't believe people still aren't happy glitches which can be fixed OMG NOoooo!
Heaven forbid someone doesn't get there character for the people who don't complain non stop then kudos to you because honestly capcom really tries to make their fans happy but hardly get any appreciation for it as a capcom fan I really think they have been on their A game giving us great games and hopefully a new Dark stalkers game which we all know Ono is down for :D
Capcom is actually very good at listening to fans, but is very bad for milking our supple nerd teats for dat fight money.
i like how capcom holds back content when releasing a game then a few months later decides to release the whole thing again with charactors they probably already had made when the first one came out yea im talkin about mvc3 as for streetfighter 3 theyre doin the same thing they could of released there little extra dlc in the actual game and the package would of been that much better...cant blame em tho i am gonna get umvc3 and the super version of sfxt cause you know they makin that as for dlc colors and whatnot common capcom gotta work a little harder to get my money im not complaining just how i see it
Hey, here's a suggestion for DLC: Downloading pre-existing versions of some of the casts. Like 2nd Impact Sean...
i love capcom i am not whinning and complaing i just think the fans are losing faith
If you're going to do that, they might as well just release Second Impact. The only way to fight the awesome brokenness of the Second Impact characters is with more Second Impact characters.
Please cap com don't listen to these 09ers leave 3s alone no dlc at all it's the perfect SF game. I've been a valued Capcom fighting game fan all my life but if they add any thing to 3s online this will break my heart. It perfect you greedy a** 09ers need to go away no dlc or balances patches please you new people are killing the fighting game scene and you all don't even realize it. Every time you cry because you get beat by a character you don't.
It's only shortsighted of Capcom to have not just came out and stated what they planned to be DLC. General rule of thumb: People tend to get their hopes up too easily because the "C" in DLC stands for "Content".
The "content" is expected to make the fans feel -content- with the offerings provided. Providing something that satisfies everybody is hard to do, especially hard if the company offering isn't exactly trying to be upfront about details that might as well have been included from the start judging by the timeframe of release.
But Capcom has a habit of screwing themselves with the SFIII series anyway and there's not really much sign of them learning their lessons at all. At least there's An AE patch and SOME of UMvC3 to look forward to.
Syirine, stop being lazy with your inputs. This game actually requires that you know how to 2-in-1 (buffer) properly. Crouch attack > DP is not a braindead motion like it is in SF4.
lol at generalizing 09ers if anything even some of the old school prefer stuff from the the first & second versions of 3s like the voices.
Wait a sec, anybody seen this yet?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3D2Wf...
Thought it was pretty dumb until I saw the collective offerings. I bet half the entire fighting game community would kill for this, especially since it's hard enough to find a physical MvC2 and CvS2 copy on top of multiple Akuma controllers.
Figures I'd find something like this right after I bought a Hori stick. Wasn't worth it.
Forward, down + mk, d/f punch. That will get it for you every time as long as you do the d/f punch part quick enough.
The only character that had a better voice in Second Impact or New Generation is Sean. I do not miss Michael Jackson Alex or Geriatric Sounding Ryu, OR "Ehhgisu Leefurekutah!"
That's how you had to do it before SF4. What was happening is that because there is little input leniency, the game was not recognizing you doing a shoryuken motion from full crouch, since you didn't hit the inputs exactly. It saw a super motion instead due to the fact that you probably went from holding the stick down to sliding it forward (qcf) and then inputting a quick shoryu motion, which will look like a qcf with an extra forward input. Given that, it's going to assume it's a super motion over a shoryu motion.
dlc is there to add new things to a game if it sold well. adding colors old musics and gameplay vids is not new content and should be included in the game to begin with. this game is meant to be as arcade perfect as possible so it should not have new content included so dlc is not possible in this game. i guess that sums it up capcom is selling you half a product so that they can sell you the other half seperatly. capcom you just messed up again.
The game is pretty much arcade perfect from a gameplay/feature standpoint. It is as close as you're going to get to owning a 3s cabinet. The new colors/music don't make the game less arcade perfect because they weren't in the arcade version of the game to being with.
i havent said anything about gameplay. i just said that dlc is not possible in this game unless capcom has sold you half a product and wants to sell you the other half seperatly. old themes and colors should have been in the game and not as dlc.
Maybe you don't understand what arcade perfect means. They gave you an arcade perfect port as advertised and now they are advertising DLC which you don't have to buy. I hate Capcom's nickle and dime policies too, but they didn't pull the wool over my eyes this time. I got what I paid for and it was what they told me I was going to pay for. It's not like I'm playing Dungeon Fighter Online or Exteel or any other free-to-play but the game is gimped until you start shelling out money on microtransactions game.
i dont care if i have to buy or not. the fact that they sold me half a product doesnt change. everytime i buy a fighting game from capcom i feel like i bought an unfinished game. and it bugs me that they keep doing this. but no instead of taking the upside they are taking the downside i hope people relize if nothing is going to be done about this it will get way worse. i hope nobody will buy these dlc you wont buy this dlc if you care for the future of fighting games
In this particular case, Capcom sold you exactly what they said they were going to sell you. There is no SFIII:
4th Attack-name. This is all there is unless they rebalance it and sell it, which would suck. Capcom pulls sheisty stuff all the time with their games. I don't condone it in the slightest, but in this case they sold me a full product and told me everything about it, including the fact there would be DLC for download later.
@45: Half of...what? The whole game is there. There's not going to be any more characters. There's not going to be a rebalance.
Everything everybody is complaining about with this is cosmetic junk. People crying about wanting old stages are crying about cosmetic junk.
i dont know if you realized it but capcom is getting a bad rep. you cant deny that this dlc should have been in this game not as dlc. yes they said that it would have dlc but if people are complaining about it they shouldnt have done this. and everyone knew that capcom was gonna milk the sh** out of them once they anounced dlc. but capcom denies all complaints i dont understand why people keep buying from them.
well said dark yellow.
Yeah there is nothing wrong with the inputs granted you do them correctly, it seems "broken" as there are a tonne more input shortcuts in SF4 which makes it feel that way, give it time, you'll notice it improves general execution.
@19 yeah i've recently played darkstalkers on a emulation round a friends who loved it, not a bad game would be really interesting in the next gen. Saying that if we demand it, the usual lot will come along and be like "oh looks like CASHCOW are up to their usual games, milking us dry" lol
@47
i agree with you but if people keep suporting it will littarly become half a game.
Oh, and before anyone asks, source: http://twitter.com/#!/AlexValleSF4/st...
Ugh, the sense of entitlement from Typhoon was disgusting. There's no need to be a rude prick towards the people who helped bring the game to PSN/Live in the first place--and new stages are just as frivolous in terms of gameplay, frankly. Really don't get what the hell his problem was.
@47
ooh i just agreed with you with the thats its not litarly half a game. maybe 80%. but i dont see whats wrong with old stages being in the game.
@13 Why not add Killstreaks with that list of DLC requests?
@55: No, it is the whole game. This is the game as it was when it came out on consoles plus replay value (aside from what's inherent in any game centered on fighting other live people) in the form of the Vault, Trials, and Challenges, plus the new stuff in the Vault consisting of (generally considered bad) music remixes.
The DLC (older game) music and colors are additions. Cosmetic additions. Additional backgrounds would be cosmetic additions. All if it (potentially, in the case of backgrounds) is completely optional with no ramifications on the gameplay of the base game.
But it's not less of a game because it lacks things which all previous versions of it also failed to contain, IIRC, especially not at a lower initial price point than the previous versions and with continued support on the tech-fixing end.
I am not saying Capcom doesn't pull crap (paid character DLC is always crap, no matter who's doing it, IMO, and that's just one example) but this isn't the case here. The lack of providing you the additional cosmetic content you want, stuff that was never in previous versions anyway, is not an incomplete game.
@57
they should just put it all in the game if they would gonna bother puting the stuffs in anyways because this is a rip off. and if anyone says that it isnt then they are lying. colors could be included takes no time music easy this shouldnt be dlc.
also online why does online mode not have 1 vs 1 player match where u fight 1 player and can hit the rematch. why can i only choose between 8 lobbies?
@57
i dont realy care so much because its crappy dlc. but we are getting less of a product that we where suposed to get.
@58 1) Set your lobby to have 6 private slots, invite who you want/wait for opponent, play, finish match, behold instant rematch button.
2) Dunno, I get an extensive lobby list when I look. Getting a ranked match is a pain in the rear, though.
Regardless, BOTH of these issues are the sort of thing they already say they're looking into, and would get fixed for free if/when a fix is found, Regardless of THAT, these are both seperate issues from DLC. Coders are not the same people who decide what's best for DLC, as they're busy trying to fix things, not deciding superfluous items.
@59: It's crappy DLC. So you're not buying it. That's fine. You don't have less of a product because they're *cosmetic and have no impact on gameplay.* If they came out with old backgrounds and bought those, you'd still have the same game just with backgrounds you like.
And "supposed?" You got what they advertised forever, a nearest-to-arcade perfect console port of Third Strike, GGPO enabled, with a plethora of options, trials, challenges, and content in the vault. Barring the bugs (which happen with every game in history and are looking to get fixed for free), you got what you paid for, which is far more than what has ever been released for this title.
@61 It's been said time and time again they are not rebalancing the game, it has too much of a loyal following, balancing it will just divide the community up and the game will lose interest. Look what happen with HD remix.
Sorry man but the game stays as is.
@60 i tried that but nobody join me i think its because of the noooby 8 lobby limit. just because it is crappy dlc that nobody will be missing its still incomplete. it doesnt matter if its usefull or not the game is incomplete.
I don't mind the DLC stuff. Hell Arcsystems charged me for 12 new colors for all characters. I was totally cool with that until Continuum shift came out and none of them freaking worked anymore. Yet they had another set of colors to "buy". If Capcom wants to offer DLCcolors then just make it something kinda cheap. Its just palette swaps..not costumes. I would be pissed if they break it up in packs of 4 characters. I'm not sure how much it will cost..but more than 5 bucks is really pushing it. As for the music. I'm totally down for it. Whatever you want ..just don't want to hear those remixes again.
Nice to know. I hope they release the stages soon.
